Micro Jig Grr-Ripper GR-100 Push Block

I noticed this morning that the Micro Jig Grr-Ripper models GR-100 (pictured above) and GR-200 are on sale. Normally they run $60 and $80 respectively, but for now the GR-100 is discounted to $49 and the GR-200 is reduced to $69.

This isn’t the lowest price I’ve seen them, but this time the deal seems to be running at several different retailers: Rockler, Woodcraft, Woodpeckers, etc…

Micro Jig Grr-Riper GR-200 at the router table

I purchased the GR-200 a while ago. For most operations, an ordinary push block suffices, but there are times when the ability to constrain the work piece in several directions at once, while still keeping your fingers out of harms way, is really handy.

The once thing I have noticed is that having only one Grr-Ripper doesn’t work well when you are ripping a long board on the table saw. That’s why I’m going to pick up another one using this deal. I’m going to purchase the GR-100 this time because I’ve never personally found a reason to use all the extra accessories.

Thanks for the heads up! I’ve got two on 100s on the way.

I’ve been wanting to pull the trigger on one of these, but I knew I wanted two of them, so it always stopped me from spending $120.

It’s not a big discount, but $20 was enough to send me over the edge.

    Amazon pricing is funny – buy a 2-pack of the base units for $99 or buy 2 x 1 packs for $49x 2 = $98

BTW – in our cabinet shop we used table saws mostly for cross cutting. For ripping we had an Oliver Straight line rip saw with machine feeding – much safer.

At home on my Unisaw (no budget for a dedicated rip saw) – I use push blocks – and really like these GRR-Rippers.

I’ve been thinking of getting the jessem table table saw guides for ripping. It seems like the best add-on outside of a power feeder.

It would cost a decent amount since I’d have to buy a new extrusion for my unifence to attach it.

          Those look nice too.

I took advantage of the $25 off per 100 that amazon ran on makita recently and bought a track saw to handle larger rips.

Still need the gripper to do finer work on the table saw though.

Its worth noting that the “GRR-RIP BLOCK Smart Hook Pushblock for Router Table, Jointer, and Band Saws” is a worthwhile purchase as well. I use it for my jointer and band saws rather than the cheap foam padded ones normally used or included. I don’t know if its on sale but it looks to be a few bucks cheaper than I had originally purchased mine for.

I got these and use them all the time. The hook is a great feature and well-designed. Got them on sale somewhere a while back, or maybe a woodworking show.

YEars ago they had a GRR-rip mail in rebate. Its a good replacement/option instead of using and setting up a lot of feather boards, and also for somewhat dangerous cuts where you’d need to push from both directions at the same time.

Its a good finger saving device.

Even on “sale”, it seems a lot of money for a piece of plastic.
