Happy Summer! Although, with the weather a lot of us have been experiencing, it started feeling like summer a month ago.
Today’s Home Depot special buy tool deals of the day promo features a selection of Milwaukee Tool cordless combo kits, misc. hand tools and accessories, as well as a handful of Ridgid and Ryobi deals.
Here are some of the highlights, featuring a couple of tools readers have been looking for discounts on:

Milwaukee M12 Cordless Rotary Tool Kit – $79
Milwaukee M12 Fuel Cordless Oscillating Multi-Tool Kit with M12 Rocket Light – $299
Milwaukee M12 Fuel Stubby 3/8″ Impact Kit with Bonus XC 4Ah Battery – $259
There are other decent deals. As usual, HD’s promo is worth looking over, in case there’s something you can check off your shopping list at a bargain.
Deals end at 3am ET 6/22/22 unless supplies sell out sooner.
Please let me know what kinds of tool deals you’d like me to be on the lookout for!
Separately, don’t forget that we have a $10 off $79 one-per-customer coupon for Acme Tools, code TOOLGUYD. The usual brand exclusions apply. This works out on larger orders, or for smaller orders (under $199) it more than covers the standard ground shipping rate.

They definitely don’t feel as special as they did pre-covid.
Now, these deals come every week and it’s generally the same items.
I enjoyed it more when they had their one off tools for great prices and you had to snipe them at 3AM. Now there is no rush to see what’s next.
I got an M18 7-1/4″ sliding miter saw for $250 around when it was introduced and I’ve never seen it near that since.
I also picked up a super hole hawg for $200 years ago.
A couple of other specialty tools used to show up as well.
After covid all the good tool deals have mostly went away, the trade shows have fizzled out, and the latest and greatest tool announcements have died off and been replaced with a solitary tool announcement every once in a while with little fan fair.
Most of this is what I’m seeing with Milwaukee tools and it feels like the hype train is nearly dead. They don’t feel like they’re innovating and revitalizing the tool sector like they were a few years ago…

It would seem to me that Covid (and the way China deals with outbreaks via lockdowns) is indeed impacting the introduction of new tools from that corner of the globe. Stuart has been posting about some new items filling the pipeline from European makers and also a few from TTI brands, Makita et. al. but it does seem to be a bit slower than in pre-pandemic times.
As far as retailer sales promotions – they have certainly been a bit lackluster – with most being in the 5 to 15% off category. Home Depot has seemed to have been offering some decent packages – but from what I’ve seen from most others (e.g. Acme, CPO, MaxTool, Toolbarn ToolNut, and ToolUp) sales have not been compelling. perhaps, if the economy cools down – particularly in the home building/ remodeling arena – retailers may feel the pinch fostering some better promotions.

Perfect time to snap shut one’s wallet. That’s the most effective way to let them know what they’re doing isn’t appealing.
Lower prices, innovate, etc. Only buy what you need to get by with. And this hurts the economy by reducing the velocity of money. So if enough people do this across enough industries, slowing double-digit quarter-over-quarter growth….maybe someone will take heed.

The rotary tool is out of stock as of 1:30, 6/21 (at least for me, in Denver.)

The m12 under hood light is a pretty good deal. Normally $199 for the bare tool, this is $189 for the tool with battery and charger
