Walmart and Hart Tools have announced the launch of new 20V Max cordless power tools and accessories, including a number of new brushless tool options.
Hart points out the the new brushless cordless tool will deliver more power, longer motor life, and longer runtime (compared to their brushed motor tools).

There are also expansions in cordless outdoor power tool and cleaning product families.
Additions to the Hart 20V Max cordless power tool system include:
- Brushless hammer drill
- Brushless orbital jigsaw
- Brushless reciprocating saw
- Brushless 7-1/4″ circular saw
- Brushless 4-1/2″ angle grinder
- Brushless 4pc combo kit (drill, impact, circular saw, LED)
- Brushless 3pc combo kit (drill, impact, circular saw)
- 2 gallon air compressor
- Hot glue gun
- Crown stapler
- 18-gauge brad nailer
- Soldering iron
- 3/8″ ratchet
With the brushless tools, Hart has bumped up specs and performance to new levels, but the tools are also more expensive.
It looks like the combo kits include the existing brushless drill and impact driver options, with the new brushless saw being included in the 3pc and 4pc combo kits.
Jim wrote in last week (thank you!) with a tip that Walmart was clearancing out select SKUs, such as the Hart 20V Max cordless LED worklight. It is unclear as to why select SKUs are on clearance, but seeing as how Hart just announced a large expansion of their Walmart-exclusive cordless power tool lineup, I wouldn’t read too much into it.

Weird the Hart compressor is 2 gallons and the Ryobi 1 gallon.

For that matter, its notable that these Hart tools aren’t just Ryobi tools with a different battery interface and paint job.
I don’t know whether the changes go farther than the plastic shells, but the tools have visually different shapes that their Ryobi counterparts. The different tank size might imply that there really is more going on.

Neat! Those are valuable additions to the Hart line. Glue gun, soldering gun, ratchet, compressor and staplers especially. Those aren’t just “core” tools, which also implies some longevity to this lineup and makes it more appealing to buy into.
That ratchet looks pretty nice actually – I like the orientation of the slide pack. My Ryobi is a bit awkward in that respect.
A compressor seems a pretty substantial tool too.

Hart has some nice prices. But i feel it will have a similar fate as the Craftsman 19.2 C3 line. Made by TTI with ryobi internals, but be a smaller tool line and might be discontinued in 10 years.

The Craftsman brand was owned by Sears, and TTI was not their only cordless OEM.
Hart is a TTI brand.
Let’s say that things go south with Walmart, they can then sell their tools anywhere else.

I’ve been wondering if this line was supposed to be the Sears Craftsman 19.2 C3 replacement before Sears and TTI had a falling out.
TTI was smart to go with Walmart. They definitely have more stores to get their product into.

Given Sears’ propensity to move downmarket instead in the past decade, I’m leaning towards that these were new offerings were not intended for the “old Craftsman”.

Who knows how long HART tools will be around as Walmart can pull the plug on Hart tomorrow if they don’t believe the line is making them enough profit OR if they have another company whispering sweet things into their greedy ears! I have seen in the past Walmart switch from all Black & Decker Power Tools to Skil tools and back to Black & Decker the next year! Pennies more of profit per item x’s approximately 5000 stores adds up! Remember the Bostitch Tool lineup at Walmart? Looked like decent tools but “here today and gone tomorrow!” No thanks Walmart but I will stick to name brands sold elsewhere.

I think some of these tools like the glue gun and the soldering iron make the line a lot more appealing to the DIY/hobby crowd. Smart marketing move for Walmart.

Yes, the glue gun does seem to fit in with Walmart’s craft section – maybe they should put it by the corded glue guns (I’ll have to check my local Walmart).

I think it really makes sense for Walmart to have its own tool nameplate. They can swap out manufacturers if need be but the name will remain with them.
If a person has a home depot near them, I would still be hard pressed to jump into the Hart line over the roybi. The ryobi line is just so expansive and I don’t see Hart ever catching up to Ryobi for the shear amount of tool options.
I agree that the Hart could get divorce from TTI but, I bet Walmart and TTI committed to X number of years first. I think folks would be safe to jump into this line of tools but the better question is why would you? ….Especially if you have a Home depot near you.
if I was considering jumping into Hart or the Roybi line, Roybi still wins in my book. Just my humble opinion 😃

If you don’t have a cordless Hot Glue gun it will change your life.
I think that the 5-gallon sprayer/wash station thing is the biggest thing they released. Expanding the line is great but nothing that would make me want to add the platform to my life….till the wash station. If Ryobi doesn’t come out with something similar soon I might be getting one.

I’m gonna build something similar to run off my ryobi batteries to power a small water pump for running a propane heated shower.

so something I keep seeing here. I would be cautious to say that all wallmarx HART tools are ryobi in new colors. I really think a few of them are more ridgid tools in new colors. maybe cheapened down some – and maybe some are ryobi insides a new shell.
but I’d bet it’s a mix of all of the above. Regardless – for not being in a normal tool store they fair pretty well it seems.

Time and time again I find better deals on the ryobi equivalents. Just ship around. Walmart hart drill set is $10 more than the Home Depot ryobi set. Now if it comes to the wife picking up a tool for the hubby then yea. She’ll be in Walmart more often so you pay for the convinence. But the costs are not a good deal. Home Depot has two 4ah batteries with a free tool for $100. Walmart has 2 4ah batteries for more money. No free tool.
