HK1 Hydrokinetic Adjustable Wrench Price Drop

Jan 5, 2010 Stuart 12 Comments

If you buy something through our links, ToolGuyd might earn an affiliate commission.

ToolGuyd reader and frequent commenter uthscaedu gave us a heads-up that the Edpedition Tools HK1 Hydrokinetic Adjustable Wrench that we had recently posted about had dropped in price to $21.50.

We’re not sure if this is a temporary or permanent price drop, but $21.50 is a  bit more attractive than the previous price of $25. This product is eligible for free super saver shipping on orders over $25 at Amazon.

The amazon link has some photos which I don’t recall seeing when this wrench was first mentioned….anyhow, this wrench has one huge advantage over the B&D readywrench – the head is much much smaller.

Hmm, some of those images look to be unfamiliar to me as well. It’s very well possible that when the price was updated (permanently, it seems), additional product photos were uploaded as well.

Compared to the ReadyWrench with its 16 sizes in 8 sockets, this adjustable wrench should offer a more precise wrench-fastener contact as well.

On 1/24 the price shows $18.60
    (still eligible for SS shipping)

    Interesting…

What I find amusing is how a slashed-trough list price of $36.80 appeared all of a sudden. Back when it was $25 and $21.50, there was no “list price,” the tool was just priced.

Anyhow, thanks for the update! You’re now 2 for 2, and I’m 0 for 2. I’ll try to keep a closer eye on the wrench’s price.

There’s an easy way to keep track of select items’ prices on Amazon.

    1. add to your cart the items you want to follow
    2. then click “Save For Later” on each item in your cart, to move them to the “Saved Items–To Buy Later” section
    3. revisit the cart as often as you want to check for price changes
    4. Amazon will display a message at the top of the cart page if any prices have changed (down to the penny) since you last looked, like this:
    “! Important Messages
Please note that the price of [item name] has increased from [old price] to [new price] since you placed it in your Shopping Cart. Items in your cart will always reflect the most recent price displayed on their product detail pages.”

I’ve had items sitting on my ‘saved for later’ list for years. Unlike being in your main cart, they stay there indefinitely (items in the main cart go away in 30 days or something like that), and don’t interfere with ordering other things you want to buy right away.

Handygal, I have to agree with your recommendation. Right now I have 172 items saved for later in my shopping cart. Back when Amazon had a low-price guarantee, this was a good way to find out about price drops.

I don’t think that items can remain saved for later indefinitely. At one point about a year ago, half my cart’s saved for later items were mysteriously removed.

Hm, perhaps you had a glitch on your account last year, but I just double-checked and I’ve still got items back to “Item added on August 10, 2004”. 🙂

I haven’t had any glitches since then, so it likely was a one-time deal. I thought I remember seeing a 180 day saved cart limit, but that might have been for items in the active cart. In either case, I couldn’t find any mention of this just now.

Checking my Amazon cart for price drops has become a part of my morning routine!

Handygal – if you can’t decide since 2004 you probably don’t need it! LOL j/k

Forgot to mention that the Black and Decker ReadyWrench is $15 at Home Depot online
    http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?jspStoreDir=hdus&catalogId=10053&productId=202019915

I have NO interest in it, but it’s 50% off

I saw the ReadyWrench for that price as well. There’s a reason why you haven’t seen any DealGuyd post about it.
