Home Depot has the Dewalt 20V Max 3Ah battery on sale for just $39.
This is a great price for a Dewalt cordless power tool battery. While this 3Ah battery doesn’t have the most modern or highest-performing Li-ion cell tech, it should be a suitable choice for low-demand tools.
The same battery was bundled in a 4-pack for $159 a couple of months ago, which is about the same price.

But, that 4-pack required you to buy 4 batteries.
If you just want one or two batteries – or even three – $39 each is quite good.
If you want four, Amazon has the 4-pack for $149, but it’s not in stock. Home Depot has the 4-pack in stock, but at $199.
$39 per battery is hard to beat.
Home Depot doesn’t look to have a lot of these batteries in stock, and from the fulfilment options, it seems they’re only available in-store or via local store delivery.
Price: $39

Update: Lowe’s has the 4-pack for $149, also local-only (thanks Big Richard!)
There are always promos on Dewalt’s 20V Max cordless power tool batteries, but I couldn’t find many alternate deals on higher capacity batteries that are worth mentioning.
For example, Home Depot has the 20V Max 6Ah battery 2-pack for $179, but I don’t feel it’s as noteworthy as a 3Ah battery for $39.
Is it worth it to buy 3Ah batteries in today’s age?
I wouldn’t consider this for demanding use, but for a cordless drill, impact driver, or compact saw, I’d rather have a 3Ah at the ready than have to constantly swap batteries back and forth. Or, this could be a backup for when a 5Ah or higher capacity battery is on the charger.
This promo enables users to equip two tools with batteries for under $100.
I say all this because I know some might be repulsed at the idea of spending money on “old tech.” However, there are valid reasons to buy such batteries today.

I wouldn’t really call it a HD deal, everyone seems to be selling them at that price. From other national retailers like Lowes, to online retailers like Acme, and even the regional stores like Farm & Fleet.
Also, Lowes still has the 4pk for $149 – https://www.lowes.com/pd/DEWALT-20-4-Pack-3-Amp-Hour-Lithium-ion-Battery/5014688327

Thanks! It didn’t show up when I searched, will take another look!
Lowe’s is reporting “1 in stock” locally. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about Lowe’s over the years, one usually means “none,” but $149 is better for anyone who wants 4 of these. ($39 x 4 = $156)

My closest store with decent stock is about 3 hours away, but I can have them delivered for only an additional $95!

I heard somewhere that DeWalt was selling this specific 3AH battery for $39 at many retailers in response to criticism that their batteries are particularly overpriced. “See? Now you can’t complain…”
Big Richard
I think it was more to combat all the cheap amazon off brands and/or fakes on ebay and the like. Which I suppose you could argue people buy them because of the criticism that the genuine DeWalt batteries are particularly overpriced [sic].

Absolutely true. If it didn’t come from a tool purchase I have zero genuine Dewalt Batteries. Tools are not ink for a printer and I won’t participate in that. I will buy generic replacements. I’m not a contractor that needs every ounce of life. I just need it to last a few years of charging. Craftsman 4Ah batteries were on sale yesterday at $39… I will use an adapter. The warranties are useless anyway.
I have some 12V milkwaukees now because Dewalt’s are so expensive. Which is a shame. I love the 12V Dewalt Screwdriver. It’s so useful and powerful for it’s size.

Thanks for the heads up. Picked up a couple at the local store. Had 11 “in stock” there when I checked out online.

Ordered one online and got it delivered from our local HD same day can’t complain to much about that.

At that price, of $40 for 3Ah, it means a cost of ~$13/Ah. So then, HD sells one 5Ah for $99. It should be $65, not $99.
Personally, I prefer 5Ah for most tools, and anything less is in the Atomic brand (different size battery).

Amazon shows me the DEWALT 20V MAX Battery with LED Charge Indicator, 3 Amp Hour, 4 Pack (DCB200-4) as in stock. (Amazon listed as the seller.)

For the size (a 2p configuration) I’d rather carry around 5ah batteries. But I respect the idea of cheap + smaller batteries. The prices have been getting out of hand.
