Home Depot’s SK Tool Box Product Pages Have Disappeared

SK Modular Tool Boxes Stacked with Rolling Carts

A little over a month ago, I posted about how SK tool boxes had popped up in Home Depot’s online store. Well, they’re gone now.

Clicking any of the product page links in my previous post now leads to an error message:

Hmm…looks like the product you’re searching for is not available.

It’s not clear what the implication or takeaway is from this.

The tool boxes also have yet to appear at Lowe’s, which is surprising given the seemingly strong relationship between SK’s parent company and the retailer.

The SK chest-style modular tool boxes are still available at Amazon, with certain models being promoted with a “limited time deal” and 20% savings.

SK launched their new modular tool box system earlier this year to little fanfare, and there are no posts – or any recent activity – on SK’s social media channels.

See them at Amazon

Could they be about to appear at Lowes – and Lowes required them not to be sold at Home Depot?

Maybe? So far there’s been no indication that SK/Great Star sold Lowe’s on the tool box system.

I haven’t seen any SK tools at Lowe’s yet. There was also this – https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/lowes-sk-hand-tools-experiment/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E

I bought 3 and the casters on prime day. So far, I’m impressed with the build quality for the price and they are on the smaller side which is perfect for my needs for them. I like that they’re modular so I can take them part or reorder the way they are stacked. Pretty satisfied.

That’s a shame. I really like the new SK offering despite being made overseas. I am hoping that an established retailer picks them up at some point.

Their new screwdriver set is very nice. I hope at some point they’ll expand it to offer 1/4″ and #2 stubbies.

Probably has to do with that patent lawsuit that I mentioned recently in another post. Companies react differently to suits like this (both manufacturers and retailers alike but generally it’s top down). If the complaint has strong merit then it’s absolutely better-safe-than-sorry to stop sale and minimize the treble damages paid if you lose. Could be some other reason, though, but this seems very likely.

Amazon is still selling them via SK Direct store.

Well, the beast that is Amazon is a special kind of labyrinth that I hear works in mysterious ways once items are in FBA locations. Or it could just be something else with HD and whoever else. We don’t see the same thing with Klein boxes pulled from sale, but…different companies all around.

There may be something bigger afoot here. Zero-anything on HD’s site and some google links end up with blank pages or redirects to general categories. On SK’s site Home Depot doesn’t come up as a distributor in any zip code/region that I tried (those things are wonky sometimes but I remember it used to show them as a source). SK seems to be taking direct orders, too…not sure if that’s new or not. My area showed exactly one distributor who ironically isn’t even in business anymore.

Maybe the deal went sour or maybe HD saw the overwhelmingly negative feedback since the China-made tools were introduced and people were upset with warranty replacements and decided to cut their losses before they started. My area showed exactly one distributor who ironically isn’t even in business anymore.

Did anyone try to attach a Flex Stack Pack box to the SK Utility Cart, or anything from the Flex family to anything from the SK Modular Stackable collection? Do they “click” together?

Love love, love the design I think it only needs a rolling cart to work on rough ground. Also, I think it’s more towards mechanic work with a metal design that should take a little more abuse and weight.
but to me, the price is way too much because you can just find used toolboxes super cheap, compared to what it would cost. I wish Home Depot or Lowe’s would pick this line up. Because anything sold in Lowe’s or Home Depot seems to be more available for a better price is new and used.
