Home Depot kicked off their Holiday 2024 special buy tool deals and promotions today, and the savings are huge.
Feature cordless power tool brands include Dewalt, Milwaukee, Makita, Ryobi, and Ridgid. There are deals on hand tools by Milwaukee, Husky, and Dewalt. A couple of Bosch laser measurer and layout tools are also included.
My local stores tend to take a couple of days to set things up. Experience tells me that the in-store selection will mirror the better online deals, but I’ll scour the aisles later this week just to be sure.

Home Depot tends to have different category promo images, but experienced deal shoppers will know the drill.
As usual, there are special buys, “buy more, save more” discounts, and “free with purchase” offers. We’ll spend much of the next month digging into the finer details and highlighting the better deals.
Home Depot Special Buy Examples

As I had predicted, the Bosch GLM100-23 laser distance measuring tool is down to $40 right now.

The Milwaukee M18 compact brushless drill and impact driver combo kit is $179. That’s a bit surprising, as it’s been $189 in the past. There’s also a “free with purchase” offer on a similar kit.
Home Depot has Milwaukee’s separate M18 cordless drill and M18 cordless impact driver kits are $99 each.
Free with Purchase Examples

Buy a Dewalt cordless power tool starter kit for $199, get a free tool.
As usual, Home Depot has tiered offers for all of their flagship cordless brands. Many of the “buy this” and “get something for free” options are new for this year, we’ll talk about them at length separately.

Ryobi’s $99 deal is likely going to be a big seller again.
Buy More Save More Deal Example

As expected, Home Depot kicked off a bunch of modular tool box deals, including a very enticing Milwaukee Packout offer.
With “buy more, save more” deals, the more you buy, the greater the discount. This time, the deal goes up to $150 off $399+ eligible Packout products.
A lot of these deals will be valid through December. In prior years, some of the “free with purchase” options and even entire tiers sold out early.
With a quick glance, I’d say that at least 80% of the promos are repeats. That’s not a bad thing – predictability makes it easier for savvy shoppers to score good deals.
It also looks like Home Depot has a head start compared to Lowe’s and online dealers. I expect to see a lot more promos go live in the next 2 weeks, and then the next round of tool deals will go live for Black Friday.

Lowes has a good dewalt sale going on right now, 2x5ah batteries @ 279$ comes with 2 free tools, a handful of decent options. Drills, impact wrenches, a jig saw and the (brushed) angle grinder.
Mike
Online, the Bosch Blaze says “See Lower Price In Cart.” In the cart, it’s $39.97. I can get an extra $25 off if I open an H-D credit card. There’s 16 in stock at my local store, which I believe because H-D’s inventory tracking is a lot better than Lowe’s!
Brad
I’ve got the 100′ version of the Blaze it’s pretty good for a no frills spot measuring tool well worth $40
Scott K
I got a price drop email from HD about this – I plan to pick one up this week. It looks like Lowe’s has the same price but not Amazon.
Alexk
Started looking at the link for HD and found two items with the wrong description for the item. Never saw mistakes like this before.
One shows how he m18 inflator and the description is for Dewalt Atomic kit
Stuart
That happens a LOT every holiday season, and there tend to be image errors as well.
Stuart
Oh – I’m seeing what you mean now. That’s definitely not supposed to happen. Looks like some kind of glitch where a title field is missing and everything just skips one over.
KokoTheTalkingApe
I saw some tools with the wrong brands listed too. Didn’t seem to affect ordering.
Alexk
Damn auto spell (and not proof reading before I hit send).
Brad
Ironically enough someone in HD’s web dept said the same thing! 🙂

Someone was saying DeWALT’s contract with HD is up soon and their store is lacking DeWALT in the end caps and the seasonal tool section. They had reason to believe there is a chance DeWALT might be leaving HD. Has anyone else heard this?
Stuart
Random people on the internet have been claiming similar for a few years now.
Here’s a post from more than 2 years ago: https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/home-depot-not-dropping-dewalt-tools/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E
I’ve asked Dewalt about it at the time, and they said the rumors were baseless.
I haven’t seen the holiday in-store setups yet, but I haven’t noticed any concerning decline. Dewalt’s main-aisle and promotional visibility at Home Depot can be cyclic at times.

I like this one – https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-60-Volt-LithiumIon-12-in-Cordless-Sliding-Miter-Saw-Kit-and-60-Volt-Brushless-8-1-4-in-Saw-Kit-with-9-0Ah-Battery-Pack-DCS781X1WS7485B/332328424
For $50 more than the miter saw kit itself, you get an add on table saw.
If you just want the miter, you can also buy the bare saw for $699 and get a “free” 9Ah DCB609 battery – https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-60V-Lithium-Ion-12-in-Cordless-Sliding-Miter-Saw-Tool-Only-DCS781B/319991645

I also like this – https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-20-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-3-Tool-Combo-Kit-with-FLEXVOLT-9-Ah-and-20V-6-Ah-Batteries-and-Charger-DCK320X1R1/331103179
A 6Ah 20v battery, 6Ah FlexVolt battery (free add on), 9Ah FlexVolt battery, premium hammer drill, premium impact, and OMT for $399.

Have they improved the omt wince it’s initial model?
Sorry to post again but some reason we can’t edit comments. Come on get with the times. Anyways the miter saw and table saw with 9ah battery shows $1298 for me.
Big Richard
Try it again, all of HD’s deals were being glitchy yesterday. It is back to $899, for me anyways. To answer your other questions:
Have they improved the omt wince it’s initial model?
– Yes/no. The original XR model was the DCS355, this is the newer (but still 5 years old) 3-speed DCS356.
Would it be wise to invest in flexvolt, what I mean is does it seem like flexvolt is here to stay?
– Flexvolt is not going anywhere. The miter saw is a newer model (2023), but the table saw is still the OG 2016 model. I am eagerly awaiting an updated version of it but have not seen/heard anything yet. I also firmly expect them to leverage tabless cells into new FlexVolt packs in the next year or two. An updated 4Ah/12Ah pack using the same 4000mAh cells as the 20v PowerPack batteries seems like a foregone conclusion.
Stuart
The way the backend was built, editing comments requires editor or admin-level permissions.
I look into 3rd party options every so often, and all of them would introduce a combination of privacy concerns, security vulnerabilities, or bulky slow-loading integrations.
Most publications have shut down comments entirely, and so I don’t expect WordPress to rework the way the comment system is built.

Wish I had the money,I’d be all over that miter saw and table saw. Have they been releasing new flexvolt tools and batteries? Would it be wise to invest in flexvolt, what I mean is does it seem like flexvolt is here to stay?
Stuart
I am very confident that FlexVolt is here to stay.
AP
Welp, I’m in another battery system. Went with the Milwaukee recip saw and 2 batteries. Needed something with a little more oomph than my M12 Hackzall. Thank you, Stuart!

Wake me when the Bosch BLAZE 165 ft. Laser Distance Tape Measuring Tool with Area and Volume is on sale.
(don’t even tease me with Hilti models… ouch $1000 for 600ft… wow.)
Roger
This year’s “freebies” offering are pretty “meh…” for people who’ve been selecting over the last 5 years. Ryobi and Ridgid are significantly smaller. DeWalt’s is very basic and predictable. Maybe something might pop up in 25Q1. I will give it to Milwaukee’s offerings for best selection of 24Q4.
Big Richard
DeWalt has the new 8Ah PowerPack as a freebie on select tools. That’s a little less basic and predictable.
MM
DCD1007 + 2x 8ah PowerPack batteries + fast charger for $350 is very tempting as my old DCD990 is starting to develop more signs of decline.
There’s also a deal for the new DCW620 with a free 8ah PowerPack as well, that’s the best deal I’ve seen on that router by far. I bought mine on sale from Acme a couple months ago; it was cheaper than HD’s current price but no free battery. If I didn’t already have one I’d be all over that deal.
And speaking of predictable offerings, I’m hoping they bring back the woodworker oriented kit they’ve had before which contains an RO sander, jigsaw, and trim router. I wasn’t really interested in it the last couple of years. This year I am.
Big Richard
I am probably going to jump on the DCW620 + 8Ah PP deal, that is pretty solid. If you are just after the 8Ah PP, pair it with the $199 Toughsystem light, it prorates the battery’s price down around $105.
Scott K
Exactly what I thought. I’m hoping Ryobi adds a worthwhile 18v leaf blower to the options as BF gets closer. I didn’t act quickly enough last year.
Tdot77
Yeah I was very surprised to not see a blower in their selection either! I also waited too long to grab one as a present for a friend last year! Hopefully something changes in the future, it is still pretty early in the whole ‘black Friday\holiday sale’ thing.
I’m personally in the DeWalt system tho, and it’s hard to not find a real nice deal on a present for myself while looking at these deals! Last year it was the 4 &6ah batts & get ‘free’ DCF921! Well I’ll have to analyze how good I was this year….while I casually peruse the selection of BOGO black & yellow tools! 😆
fred
I thought it might be time to buy some of the M18 Forge batteries – but the HD special prices are nothing special (same prices at Zoro and some others) – so I’ll wait to see if BF/CM deals do any better.
Meanwhile perusing the big-ticket items on wish lists for “some of the usual suspects” for my Xmas giving I probably will be buying fewer power tools this season – and maybe helping out with down-payments.
Tool Junkie
Actually, there is a good deal on the Forge. Ẁe only have a half dozen in our store, but $349 for the Supercharger & an 8.0ah Forge. Then you get a free 8.0ah Forge battery.
jake
Do you have a link to that offer? I do not see it.
jake
Oops, I found it.
Thank you for pointing this out!
Chrisk1970
Do you have a link I can’t find that one

FORGE 8Ah Battery Pack with M18 Dual Bay Simultaneous Super Charger + FREE Forge 8Ah
jake
@fred – If you just want forge batteries, the 12aH with free 8aH for $249.00 that AlexK points out below looks like a great deal. It pro-rates the 12aH to $138.40 and the 8aH to $110.60.
Thank you AlexK.
fred
Thanks a lot, AlexK, Jake and Tool Junkie. I just ordered the pair (8Ah and 12Ah) for $249 for pickup at a local HD.
Alexk
It looks like you can get a Forge HD 12 ah battery for $249 and a free Forge xc 8ah.
What do you think Stuart? Would this be a good fit for the table saw?
Stuart
The Forge HD 12 Ah is the most powerful M18 battery Milwaukee has ever made, and the Forge 8Ah is tied in second place with the HO 12Ah. Either would be great with the table saw.
Alexk
The super charger with forge 8ah plus free forge 8ah for $249
Steve L
12Ah FLEXVOLT 20V/60V listed at 50% off for $149. Out of stock, sign up for email notices and you hopefully get a chance to buy. Worked for me, two being delivered.
Clay
Are both batteries (4AH and 6 AH) in the DeWalt kit ones with 21700 cells?
Stuart
Looks like it to me.
Big Richard
Yes, the compact 4Ah DCB240 and 6Ah DCB206.
Giuliano
Are we impressed at all by the M18 Track Saw pricing?
Feels like less of a deal than I remember seeing in the last 12 months. Perhaps better to wait for the Black Friday deals. Or buy now and return if there’s not something significantly better…..

I saw that the Dewalt version of the Viking arm is $99. I bought it originally in August for $119 and yesterday I asked Home Depot customer service (via chat) if there was any price protection. They told me yes, I could go to the store and get a Home Depot gift card with the balance. I went there and they actually just did a return and buy at the lower price. I ordered another one so now I’ll have a pair of them for $198, which is slightly more than the lowest price I’ve seen for a single Viking arm.
Adam
I’m pretty annoyed that the (2) 48″ RTA storage cabinets I just paid $315 each for are now $278. I haven’t even finished peeling the plastic film off!
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-Ready-to-Assemble-24-Gauge-Steel-Freestanding-Garage-Cabinet-in-Red-48-in-W-x-72-in-H-x-18-3-in-D-G4802TR-US/315432156
And here I thought I was getting such a great deal since at the time of my purchase, the black version of the same cabinet was going for over $400!
Stuart
If it’s been less than 30 days, give Home Depot a call. If it’s been more than 30 but less than 90 days, give them a call and ask what your options are. If they cannot offer you a price adjustment refund, ask if maybe they can give you a store credit or gift card to avoid the hassle of a return-rebuy.
Adam
Thanks, I gave it a shot and got the difference in price refunded to my card! I was a bit worried since they’re now listed as out of stock, but the CSR didn’t even mention it. I don’t know if they still have this policy, but back when I worked at a Home Depot around 13 years ago, the store policy was to honor any price difference below $50 without question. I always thought that was a great way to handle that aspect of customer service.
Lyle
Yeah do what Stuart suggested. I just did the same with the Dewalt jack that I bought in August and they were happy to accommodate. Customer service (via chat) said I needed to go to the store since I bought it originally from the store (vs online) and they would give me a store gift card but when I went to the store they said it’s easier to just refund and repurchase. I’ve always found Home Depot to be very accommodating in situations like this. Certainly worth the effort to try.

Toolnut has the makita 6″ pruning chainsaw with 4.0 starter kit for $219 in their daily deals. Im not on that platform but seems like a solid deal
