HOT Tool Deals at Home Depot – Milwaukee & More! (6/12/23)

Milwaukee M18 Fuel Surge Brushless Oil Impact Driver with Starter Kit

Some of you are definitely going to want to check out Home Depot’s tool deals of the day today, 6/12/23, especially the Milwaukee offerings.

There’s a Milwaukee M18 Fuel SURGE bundle deal, where you get the impact driver, charger, and 2-battery starter kit for $189.

Readers have asked for Surge-only deals, and this is the closest to that one could hope for. The same deal popped up last month.

There are of course other bundle deals, featuring a selection of Dewalt, Milwaukee, Ridgid, and Ryobi cordless power tool, accessory, and hand tool promos.

Shop Home Depot Tool Deals of the Day

Deals end at 3am ET 6/13/23 unless supplies sell out sooner.

California Air Tools 10 Gallon Vertical Air Compressor

Two California Air Tools air compressors are included in the promos, and a Husky model as well. I’ve been toying with the idea of a higher capacity CAT quiet air compressor. Home Depot has the 10 gallon model for ~$370, with Amazon’s next-best price being $462. Scratch that, Amazon is matching Home Depot’s price.

Home Depot and Amazon both also have the 2 gallon model on sale for $184.

Home Depot has been running tool deals of the day with unusual frequency, and not just because we’re in the middle of their Father Day holiday shopping season. I’ll take it, I just wish they had more variety, as a lot of the same deals have been repeated from Home Depot’s other recent deals of the day sales events.

Yeah, the surge itself doesn’t come up very often. Great tool although I wish I had the m12 version instead. Unfortunately deals on that one seem even more rare.

Agreed. I seldom if ever use my (bulkier) M18 as the M12 is totally adequate in my use.

M12 Surge deals are active right now for Father’s Day, including this $70 OFF one:

I should clarify that, compared to other combos, this is actually a better deal than just $70 off.

        For $179 you get:

        • M12 Surge
        • (2) 2.0 Ah batteries
        • (1) 2.5 Ah battery
        • charger
        • carry bag

        The bare tool is $149.

Here’s the description copied from the HD website:

        “Includes: 2551-20, 48-11-2420 two M12 12-Volt 2.0 Ah lithium-ion compact battery pack, 48-59-2401 M12 12-Volt lithium-ion battery charger, belt clip, contractor bag, (1) 48-11-2425 M12 REDLITHIUM HIGH OUTPUT CP2.5 Battery Pack”

Although I already own (and absolutely love) my M18 Surge, I ordered this M12 combo because generally, I end up choosing my M12 tools over my M18, especially when I’m carrying my tools between houses.

Also, when I was working underneath an inside corner of my dock yesterday, the M18 Surge was a little too big to get into some tight spots, so I had to pull out my non-Surge M12 Fuel, and holy schmoly, I’d forgotten how loud conventional impacts are!

Thanks for the link. That’s a good deal but I think I’d only make the switch if I could find the tool-only for say $99. I have plenty of batteries (and chargers) already.

Yeah, for 90% of my use case I’ll never need a conventional impact driver again. The noise difference is huge. Kind of like when I switched from a gas lawnmower to battery powered electric.

They also have their usual $15 on two Milwaukee Fastback utility knives, which are widely respected and admired.

I’ve had the 1hp CAT 4610AC for around 5 years and it’s been great. It does everything from filling truck tires to running a framing nailer with no issues. Sure, it makes noise, but you can talk over it without raising your voice and it’s nowhere near the 6 gallon pancake rattle stations. Would recommend the CAT stuff with no reservations.

HD is also offering two Dewalt XR 5.0 Ah batteries for $149. That’s $15 per Ah, where I think $25 per Ah is typical.

The M18 Surge at that price is tempting but I love my M12 so much I can’t justify it. In fact I can’t think of the last time I used my M18 impact, the M12 is that good. But if you’re in the market that’s a heck of a good price for the kit.

Is the m18 surge really quieter and have less vibration than an average impact drill? My hands don’t care for using an impact driver all day if I am building decks. Any reduction in noise from tools is also welcome. The only impact drills I have used over the years have been Makita. I have used various models from Makita for almost 20 years.
      Thanks

Yes less noise and vibration. About half that of an impact driver. I’m driving power lags. Last year’s deal was surge and 2-5ah batteries for 199.

What tasks are you using your M12 for versus the M18?

I use my M12 Surge hex for pretty much everything short of when I’d pick a mid- or full- torque wrench: works great for any fastener short of giant lag bolts, and is lightweight and a pleasure to hold in the hand. Sometimes it does take a second or two longer to drive a 3″ screw through hardwood than my M18 impact (though the formal reviews sometimes argue otherwise), but it is, as has been said, much more pleasant to use.
