Over at Home Depot, they have new tool deals of the day, today only, 7/28/21.
There are 3 categories of tool deals this time:
- Cordless Power Tools
- Power Tool Accessories
- Storage and Hand Tools
The cordless power tool deals feature combo kits and special buys from Milwaukee, Ryobi, and Ridgid. Some of the Milwaukee deals are quite good, but nothing really that we haven’t seen before. Ridgid 18V users might want to pay attention to the 18V Octane brushless tool kit bundles.

The power tool accessory deals feature Milwaukee and Makita saw blades and specialty blades, as well as Milwaukee Shockwave and Makita ImpactX impact-rated drilling and driving accessories.
The storage and hand tool deals include Dewalt ToughSystem 2.0 insert trays, cordless LED lights, and hand tool bundles. One of the deals that especially caught my attention was Milwaukee’s M12 Fuel vacuum, although I couldn’t tell you why it’s in this category.
Deals end at 3am ET 7/29/21 unless supplies sell out sooner.
As mentioned, I think that the Milwaukee M12 Fuel cordless vacuum is an especially good deal – it’s priced at $149 for the kit with XC 6.0Ah battery.

Milwaukee says that this vacuum delivers the performance of an 18V-class vac. While I haven’t done any measurements, it does feel to be a reasonably powerful cordless vac. It has 2 power levels, wet/dry pickup, a washable HEPA filter, and a unique wall mounting bracket.
While larger than the most compact hand vacs, this model has a 1.6 gallon capacity and is still very compact and smaller than most 18V-class vacuums.
The regular price is $199, and this kit has been a special buy at $179. It’s on sale for $149 as part of this one-day sale, which is the same price as another one-day deal earlier this month.

I’d you’re looking to get into M12, that kit with the Brushless 1/2″ Hammer Drill, Impact Driver, 2x2Ah 1x4Ah batteries, charger, and bag for $199 looks to be one of the better deals.

That’s a very capable combo. Finished my basement using the previous generation of that kit and a circular saw. Have yet to run into a situation where I wished I had the 18V.

It’s an excellent tool and a good deal, but some users don’t like the unconventional form factor and reverse button placement.
Price-wise, $199 isn’t the best price I’ve seen, but it’s still a great value if you can use the bonus battery.

I question as to whether or not those who express dislike have actually used it; because in hand it’s incredibly comfortable and ergonomic to use. I love it. It’s replacing most of my other drills and drivers.

Totally agree. I use multiple drivers of different brands (red, yellow, etc.) at the same time with different bits, but if I have to grab just one on my way out the door it’s the installation driver. Once you get used to the proper grip I find it much more stable than the conventional pistol grip because having your index finger extended stiffens your wrist. I even like the change direction button because it’s easer to glance down to see which way it’s set. I find the visual indicator more intuitive than a thumb switch.

But to your question I would ask if you have actually used other similar competitor’s models. The M12 is not bad, at all, but I prefer Bosch’s FlexiClick or the Hilti SFE 2-A12.
I think Hilti is the only one with a 1/2″ chuck, and they are the only one using 21700 cells in their 12v batteries.

The bosch I had and didn’t like it; I’ve since moved away from their 12v tools. Great size to power and ergonomics, but not enough tools in the lineup to keep me invested.
The hilti looks nice, but is way more expensive and isn’t as compact. Power between all three would likely be comparable; I had no trouble driving 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ spax lags into wall studs when mounting brackets for a desk.
I’m not against spending more on a better tool, but the hilti would have to be a lot better for me to invest in it. A 1/2″ chuck isn’t as useful as they want you to believe. Of all the round shank 1/2″ drill bits I have, they all max at a 3/8″ shank. I can’t think of the last time I needed a 1/2″ chuck in a drill; if I did, that’s what my 18v is for.

I like mine a lot, it’s a very handy tool. I even use it for auto work. That said count me among those who hate those top-mounted membrane switches rather than the traditional thru-handle “crossbolt” sort of switch for forward/off/reverse. While that’s a flaw I still feel that it’s a great tool.

Over the holidays the 2 battery version was on sale for $179, so that’s when I grabbed mine.
As to whether or not it’s worth it, I recently did a small remodeling job with nothing but the installation driver, and it is now my favorite driver. By a long shot. I’m actually selling some of my other M12 and M18 drills and drivers, and will be buying another installation driver for my workshop.
That thing is amazing.

Ah I see. Actually both offer the free battery; if you look to the right on the one I linked to you get a free 2.0 (“free gift”). Disregard mine though; I didn’t see that the $199 version also includes the extra battery.

This is tempting but I’m seeing it weighs about the same as my yellow 20V max impact driver. I guess I’m used to bringing a big driver for every screw. I haven’t had the need for the offset attachments (yet).

I agree, once you get used to it, it is game changer and go-to tool. I use mine for about 80% of everything now. Always have the M18 hammer drill for situations that require more power.

Any thoughts on the sawzsall and OMT blades? Looks good to me plus it comes with a case. As DIY I don’t go through many blades but need to be ready for random cutting.

It seems to be a good price for bi-metal blades.
The Sawzall blades are typically $20 for the set (49-22-1110), and the OMT blades are typically $35 (49-10-9107).
$38 for the bundle seems fair if you can anticipate using most of the blade styles.
