Home Depot Tool Deals of the Day 7-18-23

Home Depot has another round of tool deals of the day, featuring cordless power tools, hand tools, and accessories, from brands such as Milwaukee, Dewalt, Ridgid, and Ryobi.

As usual, there are a couple of returning tool deals, and some new ones. It’s worth a quick browse-through, and I thought I’d highlight a couple of deals that stood out to me.

Shop the Deals of the Day at Home Depot

The deals end at 3am ET 7/19/23 unless supplies sell out sooner.

Milwaukee M18 Fuel Compact Impact Wrench Kit

Milwaukee M18 Fuel 3/8″ Impact Wrench Kit

With this bundle, you get the M18 Fuel 3/8″ impact wrench (2854), which delivers 250 ft-lbs max torque, 2x High Output 6Ah batteries, and a charger.

The tool-only retails for $229 by itself. This bundle is on sale for $279. That seems like a great deal to me.

This is an extension of a current “buy a starter kit for $299, get a free tool” promo, but with added $20 savings as part of the deal of the day.

If you want something that can deliver more torque, there are other impact wrench kits and bundles on sale.

Milwaukee M18 Rover LED Light Kit

Milwaukee M18 Rover LED Light Kit Bundle

This bundle gives you the M18 Rover LED worklight, 2366-20, which typically retails for $149 by itself.

For $10 more than the tool-only price, you get a 5Ah battery and charger.

The worklight delivers up to 4,000 lumens of TrueView output and can be powered by battery or AC extension cord (not included).

Milwaukee M18 Rocket LED Light with 5Ah Battery

Milwaukee M18 Rocket LED Tripod Light with Battery

The popular Rocket LED tripod light is also on sale – it’s bundled with a 5Ah battery for $189.

Do you need a charger? Longer runtime? There’s another deal bundle where you get the light with 2x 6Ah HO batteries and a charger for $279.

Bucket Boss Blue Leather Tool Belt

Bucket Boss Tool Belt with Suspenders

I haven’t seen much activity from the Bucket Boss tool storage accessory brand in a few years, and so this blue leather tool belt – and two others (in red and green) – definitely got my attention.

It features 19 pockets, with a leather belt and mixed construction tool pouches made with 1680D 2-ply poly fabric.

The suspenders have a “LoadBear” stretch suspension.

Apparently these aren’t new to the brand, but new to me.

Amazon is matching the price of the blue and green tool belts, and has much better pricing on the red version.

Milwaukee Hardline EDC Knife 2-Pack

Milwaukee Hardline EDC Knife 2-Pack

Milwaukee’s Hardline folding knives are decent. They’re reasonably well-made, and their D2 blades are well suited for work.

The 48-22-1994 has a 3-inch plain edge drop point blade, and the 48-22-1998 has a 3-inch partially serrated Tanto-style blade.

48-22-1994 – separately at $59.97
48-22-1998 – separately at $59.97

Of the two, I prefer the plain edge blade – they’re easier to sharpen – but the Tanto style could be an all-around workhorse.

I don’t recall seeing the Hardline knives on sale for a while.

Would I choose differently for the same money? Yes – the Civivi Elementum might be a well-matched alternative. But I feel that the Hardline series can be a good intro into EDC knives.

The Civivi Elementum is an excellent EDC knife. However, I think the Ontario Rat 1 in D2 is a closer alternative to the Milwaukee Hardline knives.

I haven’t tried the Milwaukee knives to compare, but the specs indicate they’re pretty heavy for EDC, they have frame locks and presumably intended for rough use. The Ontario Rat 1 is basically the defacto hard-use folder.

The Rat 1 has a full flat grind, thumb studs and a liner lock, but it also uses full-length liners without any skeletonization and has washers in the pivot, not bearings.

I would also pick an Elementum over the Rat 1 for EDC though – just not if I wanted a hard-use work knife with a full four-finger grip.

Nice write up, thanks Stuart. Anyone have anything re: the difference on the M12 vs M18 Rocket lights? I’ve got one of the M12 and it’s a nice easy light to set up, but occasionally feel like it could be brighter.

M12 is much more portable, M18 is better for extended use.

M12 is well suited for smaller indoors spaces, M18 for larger spaces or outdoors.

I got the Milwaukee 2136 several months ago and it’s been great. Brighter, batteries last longer and it has 3 movable light heads. It replaced a 2131 style light, which wasn’t bad, the new one just offered more. They are a bit pricey, but big upgrade over the M12 ones…

I bought the Hardline drop-point knife a few years ago soon after it was introduced.

I’m not sure I’d call it an EDC knife. It is heavy and strongly made, with a thicker blade than your typical EDC knife. The handle fills my hand (size L).

But two things make it sort of EDC-ish. One is it’s relatively flat, so it fits nicely in pockets, though that also makes it less comfortable in the hand. The other is the flipper opening (and there is no other way to open it.) That’s a fast, handy way to open a knife as long as the butt of your own palm doesn’t block it.

On mine, the flipper action was not super-positive. It isn’t spring-assisted, and sometimes I couldn’t get it to open completely. But it’s a strongly made knife. And D2 as a steel is tough and easy to sharpen, though it has a little less corrosion resistance than some other steels.

So I suppose you could call it either a work-oriented EDC or a folding work knife. It has compromises in both directions, though so does every knife. It will take some abuse, though so will your hand after a while.

Yes, but it was sold out when I put the post together.

There are a couple of other notable deals, also sold out. The Ridgid cordless vac kit with extra filters seemed like another very good deal.

Oh, interesting. When I posted the link / comment, it was showing as in-stock. Not surprising it sold out I guess.

Maybe it went back in stock briefly? I definitely still appreciate it!

Some of those Ryobi deals are equivalent to the Ryobi Days promo but $10 cheaper.

Agreed. I get the feeling these are akin to promo inventory clearance sales.
