Dewalt 12V 4-Tool Combo Kit DCK413S2

Tomas wrote in to ask us about a seemingly good deal he found on this Dewalt 12V Max 4-tool combo kit. Surely there was a catch somewhere, right? How could it be that this drill, impact driver, saw, and LED worklight combo costs just $229?

To judge the deal out I browsed around to check out how much the drill/driver and impact driver combo kit costs these days. $179 via Amazon ($199 elsewhere). The kit comes with 2 batteries, a charger, and kit back. And the LED worklight? $29 via Amazon ($39 elsewhere).

So we’re now at $208 for the 2-tool combo and LED worklight, meaning stepping up to the 4-tool kit costs just $21 extra. Another way to look at it is to consider that you’re paying for half the saw and getting the LED worklight for free.

Or you could look at the drill and reciprocating saw kit, which is priced at $200 via Amazon and other distributors. The 4-tool kit is $30 more and comes with an added impact driver and LED worklight.

Quite simply, the 4-tool combo kit is a great deal if you were going to buy the drill/driver, impact driver, and saw anyways. There are other 2-tool kits that might be better for your needs.

Buy Now (via Acme Tools)

Update: Thanks to Clayton for his comment that mentions coupon code SCORE10 drops an extra 10%-off at Acme Tools, and jkrl for telling us about the less-expensive 3-tool combo at Home Depot for those who don’t want or need the LED worklight.

The same 4-tool kit is advertised for $279 pretty much everywhere else. Acme Tools’ site does mention that the $229 price is lower than the MAP for the combo. The “was” price is listed as $279, and the BS MSRP price is given as $529.72.

Thanks Tomas, for the heads-up!

If anyone can figure out why Acme is selling the combo for $50 less than everyone else, please let us know! My thoughts are that they overbought this combo for the holidays and just want to move inventory to make room for new releases.

Oh man… I’m trying so hard not to pull the trigger on this.. this seems like an amazing deal right now. Unfortunately I had JUST bought a clearanced PC 12v Drill & Impact kit, with only 1 battery for $50 a couple weeks ago. The impact has been giving me fits though. I’m tempted to buy this and dump the other set on ebay..

Free shipping on orders over $199 and use coupon code SCORE10 gives you an additional 10% off… out the door for me at $206.10!!

Guess you know that I didn’t hold off, haha.

I have the 3-tool 12V Max set, drill/driver, screwdriver and impact driver, and I added a third battery and flashlight to it. I would never pay retail for the 3-tool set (formerly only available at Lowe’s from what I hear), but I got the original set for a steal on closeout at Lowe’s.

It’s a hard sell to buy these at retail or near retail because there are 18V Lithium Ion sets in the same price range, however, now that I own it, I have to admit these are really very nice, well balanced tools, and perfect for in-house handyman jobs. They might work very well for someone who just doesn’t want, or can’t handle the heft of 18V tools.

There are some buying considerations. There are listings for the DCB120 batteries for 1.3AH and 1.5AH. Mine are marked 1.3. I don’t know if there was a quiet upgrade from deWalt, or the 1.5aH is a mistake. I’ve heard rumors of a larger high capacity battery coming but months later it hasn’t shown up on the market. For chargers, usually kits come with 12V-only charges but if you buy a 20V Max kit it may come with a 12v+20V charger, which would be very convenient if you and a friend/coworker have either system. I know when a friend comes over to help out with a project that has the same Bosch 18V system I have, it is very nice to pull out all the chargers and charge all the discharged batteries as quickly as possible with shorter queues. Just label your batteries with your name!

Probably some holiday season left overs, like this:

    About the same price range.

Nice price and a great deal for anyone that doesn’t want the LED worklight. Most people will have to pay upfront sales tax though.

Man, I looked everywhere for a discount code for acme tools and couldn’t find one. Congrats on scoring it for $206.10!

My combo will be here Friday, I’m happy enough at $229…..Although do you think if I emailed them with that code they’d credit me the difference? (Hey if you don’t ask you don’t get, right?)

I picked up the 3 tool set at home depot when it was 219.00 then it went to 199.00 like a month later. It’s a great kit. I purchased a flashlight later on and it’s great. I now have the 3/8 impact wrench kit too. So 5 tools counting the flashlight, 5 batteries, and 2 chargers. I’m set on the dewalt 12v max lineup, i just hope they come out with some more tools that i will use for it.

    Currently $249, but with the 10% off code (score10) that’s $224.10

But says availability is now 7-10 days out so it looks like the folks here must have cleared them out of their existing inventory.

After finding six of the older 1.5 Ah batteries for $36 earlier, I almost pulled the trigger on the two-piece combo for $180. Checking Home Depot earlier, though, I found a similar deal to this one: 4-piece set for $239…but with a free screwdriver bare tool thrown in. Got one coming now, not that I absolutely NEED the tools.
