Husky Connect System 2-Drawer Organizer

Home Depot has come out with a new Husky Connect System 2-drawer parts organizer tool box.

I saw a post by @lowvoltagedude on Instagram about the Husky Connect System drawers, but I couldn’t find any additional information online. The next morning I took a trip to Home Depot and found them on the shelf. Now armed with a part number (1005793950), I was finally able to find out more information.

The drawers are part of Husky’s Connect System, which is yet another mobile toolbox system like Milwaukee Packout, Dewalt ToughSystem, or TSTAK. The Husky Connect System features several different components, such as tool boxes, rolling bases, small part organizers, and tool caddies that lock together into a stack.

Here are the relevant features:

  • Outside dimensions: 21.45″ W x 12.2″ D x 7.2″ H
  • 2 full-extension drawers with latches
  • Drawer dimensions: 17″ W x 9-7/8″ D x 2-1/4″ H
  • Ball bearing drawer slides
  • 20 lbs capacity per drawer
  • Removable dividers
  • Top handle
  • Side handles
  • Large area for labels (labels included)
  • Polypropylene construction
  • Compatible with the Husky Connect System
Husky Connect System 2-Drawer Organizer Open Drawer

The drawers are fully rectangular, without any cutouts for handles, although along the perimeter and bottom of the drawer there are bump out slots that accept the included drawer dividers. In the organizers I saw at the store there were only enough dividers provided to fully outfit one drawer.

The drawers snap into place when you push them into the body of the organizer, and take a little extra tug to get them out again, and there are also latches on each side of the organizer that snap onto the front of the drawers to prevent them from opening. This means that you can secure the drawers for transport to prevent them from opening unintentionally.

Husky Connect System 2-Drawer Organizer Top

In addition to a storage slot that allows the top handle to fold down flat, there’s extra organization space on the top of the drawers with a few shallow trays for additional small parts storage.

One organizer with 2-drawers, drawer labels, and enough dividers for only one drawer is priced at $42.

Discussion

I picked up one of the 2-drawer organizers because the information on the Home Depot website left out important information, like the size of the drawers, that I though was important to report.

Husky Connect System 2-Drawer Organizer vs VersaStack

I find it interesting that Husky decided to price the drawers between the Dewalt TSTAK and Tough System drawer units (not to mention much, much lower priced than the Milwaukee Packout drawer tool boxes).

You can pick up the Dewalt TSTAK or Craftsman Versastack 2-drawer organizers for about $35 each, and the ToughSystem Drawers for about $90. The drawers are closer to the ToughSystem drawers in size (though shallower), but much closer to the TSTAK price, probably because they couldn’t command much more being a house brand.

Husky Connect System 2-Drawer Organizer With Dividers

There are six dividers included: three that span the width of the drawer and three that span the depth. The dividers are low quality; they are just rigid enough to stay in place if they are supported by the other dividers. You can see in the photo above how they are wavy where they aren’t supported by other dividers.

Since they only provide one set of dividers, you can only divide one drawer into up to sixteen small compartments, or you can spread the dividers between the drawers for a mixture of large and small compartments. The part number for the dividers is apparently 749663, but I cannot find any place you can actually buy more. I also have no idea how to configure the organizer to get the “13 compartments” listed on Home Depot’s product page.

I haven’t decided what I’ll do with these drawers yet, I’ll probably mount them under a table like I have with my Versastack/TSTAK drawers in my shop.

I browsed by those husky connect orgnaizers about 2 weeks ago. The thing I found interesting is it said it was ‘Made in Israel’. I figured it would be Made in China

Keter Plastics (a BC Partners company) and Zag Industries (a SBD company) are the likely OEMs . Both operate out of Israel.

If the UPC starts out : 731161 then the OEM is Keter
If the UPC starts out : 733417 then the OEM is Zag

that looks like 8 compartments on the lid, that’s probably what they’re counting!

2 1/4 height might be enough for some tools that don’t fit in tstack. I think if this had been available a couple years ago I might not have bought any tstack drawers

That reminds me I have to see what I can do about my Husky connect system. Ive had 4 or 5 of these connect boxes snap at the plastic where they are supposed to connect to each other so I’ve been using a ratchet strap to hold them together. I do NOT recommend the Husky connect system. Even if HD would replace them, that doesn’t change the inherent weakness of the latching system and a hard user would not want to deal with the headache of these latches failing so frequently.

Where exactly are they snapping? The receiver on the bottom of the box, the latch on top of the box, or around the latch area?

Do you have the item number for the Husky Connect 4 wheel cart like the Tstak and Packout have? It’s pictured 2nd to the last I believe in the two drawer unit listing.

As far as I can tell it isn’t sold. There’s a possibility it just hasn’t been released.

If you look down in the questions on the same page, somebody asks about the dolly and the Home Depot Associate answer is to point them towards the Milwaukee dolly.

Someone else asked about this, and I’ve been trying to get a straight answer, but nobody at Home Depot has any insights as to if/when/where the pictured dolly is coming out.

I’ve checked with a few insiders. Definitely a future release that was accidentally included in a photo for the 2 drawer unit.

I also called about this and have a ticket open. In the description of this organizer they list it as compatible with the “Husky Connect Mobile Cart”. No one can fine it. Support from 800# is supposed to call me back today.

The Husky connect products look decent – and fairly priced – just not enough diversity yet to compete with the other options. I skipped over it in favor of Toughsystem because of the rolling cart. Eventually I grabbed a couple coolers too. I’ve been please with Toughsystem overall (even though I can admit to a bit of jealously whenever I see the Packout gear).

Must buy for me — big improvement over:

(for those who can’t see the images, hacked up use of Harbor Freight organizers and parts organizers)

It may even allow me to skip on buying into Systainers.

now give me a drawer kit with a foam kit to put my own tools in – and I might have to get one.

Easy enough to do foam — I’m cheap and use anti-fatigue mats from Harbor Freight, see:

especially when the inside of the drawer is sort of rectangular instead of all wonky like tstack interiors

Yeah, but I’m probably going to try modeling the shape in CAD and cutting them out on my CNC anyway, w/ slight divots for each drawer guide.

I do not believe that TTI is the OEM for Ridgid branded toolboxes. Rather I believe that Home Depot using the Ridgid name (under license from Emerson) has contracted with folks like Keter Plastics and others to produce the boxes. Certainly some of the Ridgid brand toolboxes have come with UPS starting with 731161 (for Keter) – but I believe that other bear UPS starting with 711730 suggesting a different OEM

True. I believe the ridgid boxes are the same as AEG or similar overseas.

711730 is an oem code for zag which is part of sbd ironically enough

That makes sense. Zag produces tool storage boxes etc. for may of the SBD brands as well as for ones sold under Home Depot and Lowes brand names.

I was at the depot this evening and had some store credit so I picked one up to see if it’ll work in my work truck. Not a fan on how shallow it is compared to how much wider it is compared to Tstak drawers. It would be nice to have a single drawer this size.

May keep or may return it. We’ll see.

I actually appreciate the organizational aspect of two drawers — agree that having a second variant w/ a single tall drawer would make a nice option (and if it had been available I’d’ve bought one of each)

Thought about cutting the bottom out of the top drawer and making a siding that would connect the two together to make one drawer.

Not a bad idea! These drawer units have become hard to find as of late. Guessing importation delays. I’ve seen a couple Packout drawer mods that take 2 drawer to one.

I’d rather leave em as is and hopefully they release a single drawer unit. I don’t think there would be a max weight issue with a single drawer.

I dislike the top storage area. A drawer can live always snapped in below another drawer or a top-open tool case. My use case would be about six of these in a stack. That’s a lot of not-so-accessible storage space.

Seems likely that a secondary consideration for how it’s molded is that the dividers impart rigidity which the top needs.

How i wish these were Rigid, but this might be an option for my Cub Pack’s kitchen. Right now I use the Rigid gear for our personal camp gear, but drawers would be a very nice option. Just not sure if the Husky gear will hold up – to give the Rigid gear credit, it has survived some serious abuse.

Single-drawer, sold by Amazon.com. Currently available, although price is about $10 higher than I’d like it to be. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BF4VUKO/ AcmeTools offers these at a lower price, but for a late-April delivery.

Double-drawers seem to be orderable from ToolNut, for mid-March.

ok. I have 6 of these drawer units. here’s the problem with all stacking combos (Packout, Dewalt, husky, ect,) my tools go from home to suv to job site. so when I get inside the job site, I don’t want to unstack to get something out of the bottom unit. I’ve just made a rolling cart by mounting wheels to the connect tray box. then stack 3 sets of drawers, and the tool box (I gave up the connect cantilever boxes because it was too hard to open when in suv.) the dividers in drawers suck but I used duct tape to better secure and there is only enoughfor one drawer (16 compartments). Plus there’s 4 little holes on the sides that also needed to be taped so small parts won’t fall out. but so far they have had up pretty good. hopefully Husky will offer the 4 wheeled cart or a flat connect dolly and even a larger drawer unit!!

The batch of HD 2 drawer connects near me have an apparent molding flaw, the upper rear latch receptacle is blocked by an obtrusion, a tiny block or tab of extra plastic. Has anyone else seen this?
