Husky Hand Tool Deals at Home Depot, Holiday 2015

Nov 11, 2015 Stuart 11 Comments

If you buy something through our links, ToolGuyd might earn an affiliate commission.

It seems like retailers are kicking off their Black Friday and Holiday tool deals earlier and earlier each year. Some of Amazon’s tool deals are already live, and home improvement retailers have already finished setting up their holiday displays.

Online Coupon: $5 Off $50 or more! Enter Promo code HDHOLIDAY. Valid 11/23/2015-12/03/2015, online only.

These are most (if not all) of the Husky hand tool deals and “special buys” that Home Depot will offer this holiday season. You can buy them in-store, but most will also be available online. Some are already listed, others will make their way online soon.

The couple of other brands of hand tool deals are discussed separately.

I visited 3 local stores on different dates to make sure I scouted out all of Home Depot’s Black Friday tool days. If I missed one, please let me know!

These are only Home Depot’s Hand Tool Deals. I’ll be working on similar posts that discuss their other Black Friday and Holiday tool deals.

We’ve been busy scouting out the best tool deals of the holiday season. Don’t forget to check out our latest tool deal posts and Holiday 2015 Deal Center.

You can buy these all in-store, unless your local store sold out, and most of them are available online as well.

So what will you be buying from Home Depot this holiday season?

Here’s a quick table of contents that might help:

Husky Hex Tools
Husky Pliers and Adjustable Wrenches
Husky Screwdrivers and Precision Tools
Husky Knives and Multi-Tools
Husky Mechanics Tools
Husky Hammers

These links simply take you down the page. My advice would be to scroll through the page once and then use the quick links when you want to refer back to a certain deal later on.

Husky Hex Tools

Husky Hex Tools Home Depot Holiday 2015

Looking for some great hex tools? We put together a list of 16 recommended hex tools, including some great problem-solvers.

Looking for some basic hex tools? These should suffice.

Husky Folding Hex and Torx Sets Home Depot Holiday 2015

For $10 you can get a trio of fold-out hex and Torx tools.

Although the folding hex tool sets aren’t color-coded, they’re clearly labeled. $10 for the set is a decent price for a basic or portable tool kit. I might buy a set just to keep around, so that family and friends wouldn’t have to ask to borrow my really good ones.

Husky T-Handle Hex Drivers Home Depot Holiday 2015

There are also metric and SAE T-handle hex drivers, at $10 for each set.

I prefer ball hex T-handle drivers, but do like that these T-handle hex drivers have a high torque L-shape configuration. You can use them the long way for easier access, or short way for higher torque.

Husky Pliers and Adjustable Wrenches

Husky Pliers Home Depot Holiday 2015

What would be a holiday display without some pliers sets?

Husky Mini Pliers Set Home Depot Holiday 2015

5pc mini pliers for $10, and it comes with a storage pouch too. I haven’t tried these, but I imagine they’re okay for someone starting out or who doesn’t have very demanding precision tool needs.

Husky Pistol Grip Pliers Home Depot Holiday 2015

As we said last year, these Husky pistol-grip pliers look decent. I still haven’t picked up a pair, but maybe that’ll change this year. These look to be useful for reaching into tight spaces.

Husky Flip Pliers Home Depot Holiday 2015

Flip pliers give you 2 sets of jaws in 1 tool.

Husky Double Speed Adjustable Wrench and Groove Joint Pliers Sets Home Depot Holiday 2015

I’ve reviewed Husky’s Double Speed adjustable wrenches before, and they’re okay. I wouldn’t use them in place of my favorite adjustable wrenches, but they’re not bad. A 4-piece set for $15 seems like an excellent deal.

As for the groove joint pliers… I don’t use groove joint pliers often, and when I do, a single Channellock size would suffice. I have multiple Channellock groove joint (tongue and groove) pliers, but put most of them away. Then again, the adjustable pliers I have cost several times as much as the $15 for this set of 3.

Husky Groove Joint and Locking Pliers Home Depot Holiday 2015

If you’re looking to expand your tool collection, these adjustable pliers and locking pliers sets, might be a good buy, at $15.

Kinpex’s Cobra adjustable pliers are excellent, but you won’t find them this cheap. I like some Vise Grip pliers styles, but mainly prefer Grip-on these days. Just FYI.

Husky Pliers and High Leverage Cutters Sets Home Depot Holiday 2015

If you’re looking for a little bit of everything, these 2 pliers sets seem to be well rounded. There’s also no overlap between the two sets, giving you complementary functionality.

From what I’ve seen, Husky pliers are decent for the money.

Husky Screwdrivers and Precision Tools

Husky 6-in-1 Screwdriver Display Home Depot Holiday 2015

Say hello to an army of 6-in-1 screwdrivers.

Husky Multi-Bit Driver Home Depot Holiday 2015

While it might not rank up there with the best multi-bit screwdrivers (or maybe it could), these look like the could be alright.

I like the easy-clean hard handles, which might also hold up in a garage, car trunk, or other extreme environment than soft-handled ones – or at least cheap soft-handled ones.

Husky Precision Pick and Screwdriver Set Promo Display Home Depot Holiday 2015

Do you have any picks? Precision screwdrivers?

Husky Precision Pick and Tweezer Set Home Depot Holiday 2015

I’ve never said it before, but I’ll say it now – a couple of inexpensive picks and tweezers are better than no picks or tweezers.

Want something better? Upgrade to Ullman picks and some All-Spec tweezers, at the least.

Husky Precision Screwdriver Set Home Depot Holiday 2015

If you need some good precision screwdrivers, check out our best precision screwdrivers recommendations.

But this interchangeable precision screwdriver set, at just $7, looks like a good starter set.

Husky 14pc Screwdriver Set Home Depot Holiday 2015

This set of 14 Husky screwdrivers is just $15.

The set comes with 10 regular handled screwdrivers, 2 double-ended offset screwdrivers, small 4-in-1 keychain screwdriver, and a screwdriver-handled bottle opener.

Husky Knives and Multi-Tools

Husky Lockback Knives and Multi-Tools Home Depot Holiday 2015

Two lockback utility knives for $8? I might be open-minded in giving them a try, if the knives were the same as Husky’s regular folding lockback utility knife.

A multi-tool for $8? I’d pass. It’s hard to recommend that you quadruple your budget and splurge on HD’s Leatherman Skeletool deal, but I have yet to find a multi-tool for under $20 that was worth using.

Husky Mechanics Tools

Husky Palm Ratchet Display Home Depot Holiday 2015

I’m not a fan of “special buy” socket sets, but the palm ratchet in this Husky set might make all the difference. I bought a similar Kobalt set once, and it’s come in handy as part of a household tool set.

Husky Palm Ratchet Set Home Depot Holiday 2015

You get 30 pieces for $10, including a bit holder socket.

Husky Stubby Tool Set Home Depot Holiday 2015

There’s also this 46pc stubby tool set. None of the tools look all that amazing, but stubby tools definitely do come in handy. This set gives you a stubby ratchet, adjustable wrench, screwdriver, and a free bonus precision driver.

It also comes with some sockets and screwdriver bits.

Not bad for $15.

Between this and the palm driver set, I’d buy this stubby set.

In terms of palm ratchets, here are some alternatives:

Craftsman Gimbal Ratchets
Gearwrench Gimbal Ratchets
SK Thumbwheel Ratchet (Review)

Husky Pass Thru Socket Sets Home Depot Holiday 2015

Husky is offering up a 28pc pass-thru socket set, with universal-style sockets, for $25.

Husky Pass-Thru Mechanics Tool Set Home Depot Holiday 2015

If you want much more, there is also this 54pc pass-thru socket set, for $80, but it also comes with a bunch of wrenches.

Husky Ratcheting Wrench Sets Home Depot Holiday 2015

Husky came out with new 100-position ratcheting wrenches. I’m not a fan of ratcheting open ends, but the box ends are fine-toothed/fine-positioned, and seem surprisingly smooth.

Each 6pc set (inch and metric) are $40, and have universal-style (spline) box ends.

Husky Small Ratchet and Socket Sets Home Depot Holiday 2015

I also noticed new 100-piece ratchet sets, which also come with universal-style sockets.

Husky 5pc Ratcheting Wrench Set Display Home Depot Holiday 2015

There are 5pc ratcheting wrenches in the deal section, at $15 each. These sizes might meet most homeowners’ needs, but the size of ranges isn’t really enough for heavier users.

Husky 5pc Ratcheting Wrench Set Home Depot Holiday 2015

If you by a smaller set like either of these, you would have to buy a whole other set in the future to get additional sizes. Well, you wouldn’t really have to, but it often works out better to buy a set than just a couple of individual sizes. Hmm, maybe that’s not that bad after all?

These ratcheting wrenches have universal spline-style box ends.

Husky 28pc Combination Wrench Set Home Depot Holiday 2015

28 combination wrenches, for $20.

Husky 28pc Ratcheting Combination Wrench Set Home Depot Holiday 2015

This Husky 20pc ratcheting wrench set looks awfully familiar.

Ah, that’s because there’s a similar Gearwrench 20pc ratcheting wrench set deal at Sears.

If you’re looking for high bang for the buck, and don’t mind zero-offset ratcheting wrench designs (discussion about that here), this might be a really good buy.

Husky 65pc Mechanics Tool Set Home Depot Holiday 2015

There are traditional mechanics tool sets of all sizes.

65pc set for $30.

Husky 111pc Mechanics Tool Set Home Depot Holiday 2015

111pc set for $50.

Husky 205pc Mechanics Tool Set Home Depot Holiday 2015

205pc set for $99.

Husky 268pc Mechanics Tool Set Home Depot Holiday 2015

268pc set for $149.

Husky Hammers

Husky Hammer Combo Home Depot Holiday 2015

Two 16 oz. fiberglass-handled hammers, for just $10.

Husky Claw and Rip Hammer Pair Home Depot Holiday 2015

One hammer has a nail claw, the other a rip claw (for demo work). One for you, one for a helper?

Husky Fiberglass Hammer Home Depot Holiday 2015

If you’re looking to spend less, there was a tower of $7 HDX 16oz fiberglass-handled hammers. I’d spend the $3 more to get the Husky combo.

Did We Miss Any Deals?

Did we miss mentioning any other Husky hand tool deals?

You can buy these and other hand tool deals at Home Depot online (but it might be easier or quicker for you to just pick them up in-store.

What about the multitude of Husky LED flashlights? They seemed interesting, but I couldn’t tell if there were a good deal.

I’m still working on a separate post on some of them.

I trust Husky a lot more than the no-name flashlights retailers also hawk during the holiday season, but a lot of their designs are “here today, gone tomorrow.”

I have a Husky mechanics tool set that was $35-$50ish 6 years ago and it’s fairly solid. I’m not saying I would use it professionally, but it’s held up pretty well. I go for it more often then my USA Craftsmen set just due to the size.

I ordered a set of those pistol grip pliers with the dipped handles *months* ago and those jerks just sent me an actual cancellation notice about 2 weeks ago. I had followed up about a month after the order (they’d been on backorder) and was told they weren’t made anymore.

Some of these tools are seasonal and aren’t regularly stocked. The person you talked to, as well as the computer systems that cancelled your order, probably don’t recognize it as a real product most of the year.

I got that stubby set years ago as a Christmas present and it’s been my number one small job set ever since. Not great quality but it’ll get things done. I appreciate that the sockets are six point and it comes in metric and standard instead the universal sockets most cheap sets seem to be using these days.

A couple years ago, I got an all 3/8″ drive SAE and metric Kobalt socket set. The Husky 65piece looked similar until I noticed it is half 1/4″ and half 3/8″ drive. I’d love to have a second all 3/8″ drive set like my Kobalt.

I also picked up a set of Craftsman mini pliers years ago and the Husky set here looks very similar. I may have to get them.

I wish the gimbal palm ratchet that came in that 100piece black tool set was available separate. That thing is awesome.

Craftsman makes the same exact thing, (and when I say exact, only the colors differ. Don’t recall what size socket the Husky is, but the Craftsman comes in a 2-pack with a 1/4″ & 3/8″ drive sockets. It also comes with an adapter to use regular hex bits (so they call it a 3-piece set of course). Normally $60, but half the time they are $30. Add a coupon in, and it’s not such a bad deal.

Very smooth operation. If I recall, they are made in Taiwan.

I bought the 2 pack of utility knives for 7.88. I wouldn’t recommend it. The full size one I had to take apart and adjust/lubricate to get it to open and close smoothly. Handle is plastic.

The smaller one the handle is aluminum. The one I got the lock wouldn’t engage. I took it apart and eventually after some frustration I threw it in the trash lol.
