Klein Insulated Pliers

Klein has recently expanded their line of insulated electrical tools with new slimmer, sleeker, and VDE-certified pliers.

The new USA-made insulated tools feature injection molded grips that have 3-part insulation for added protection and safety. If you can see the white-colored underlayer, that means the tool’s protection might be compromised and should be replaced.

The new insulated tools also feature smaller thumb guards that don’t jut out as much, making them easier to fit into tool bags and pouches.

Klein Insulated Pliers Differences

It’s hard to tell just based on product images, but the new handles do look thinner and more comfortable to grasp. I’m basing this observation on the gap between the handles of the older 2000-series insulated side cutter and the new one. With the pliers both closed, the newer side cutter, with its orange and black handles, has a much wider gap between its handles than the older one with orange handle grips.

These tools are VDE-certified at 1000V and meet or exceed IEC 60900 and ASTM F1505 standards for high voltage insulated electrical tools. As with all insulated hand tools, proper personal protective safety practices must be followed when using these tools.

The new line includes combination pliers, high-leverage diagonal cutting pliers, high-leverage side-cutting pliers, long nose pliers, tongue & groove pliers, cable cutters, and wire strippers.

  • Combination pliers (12098-EINS)
  • Tapered and angled head high-leverage diagonal-cutting pliers (2000-28-EINS, 2000-48-EINS)
  • 8″ and 9″ high-leverage side-cutting pliers (213-8NE-EINS, 213-9NE-EINS)
  • 9″ heavy duty high-leverage side-cutting pliers (20009NE-EINS)
  • 6″, 7″, and 8″  long nose pliers (203-6-EINS, 203-7-EINS, 203-8-EINS)
  • Pump pliers (502-10-EINS)
  • Cable Cutter (63050-EINS)
  • Wire stripper/cutter (11054-EINS)

All of the new tools have distinctive orange and black handles.

Now this is real tool news. 100% made in the United States of America Klein insulated tools, but best of all these are Verband der Elektrotechnik, Elektronik und Informationstechnik e.V. (VDE) tested but also meet 1000 volt or exceed these standards is great news.

Whilst the old system was fine, this upgraded version looks as if there is more protection though.

This is the type of news I enjoy reading first in the morning. American jobs being created and being supported.

    Thanks Stuart for this information!

I like them , and the new strippers are an improvement over the earlier model . Since the will feel more “normal” , or similar to the Journeyman family , they may increase the confidence of the end user . The old 1KV handles felt boxy , the 1KV handles on European lines like Knipex always felt more ergonomic .
