In yesterday’s Here are the Other Holiday Tool Brand Discounts We’ve Been Waiting For post, Mike commented with a tip that Amazon’s price on the Klein MM500 multimeter had dropped.
Right now, you can find the MM500 for $31 at Amazon and Home Depot (online only). Read more about the Klein MM500 in our preview post, or in our hands-on mini review.

This is a waterproof, dustproof, drop-resistant meter. It only sports 3 functions: voltage to 750V (AC and DC), resistance up to 4,000 Ω, and continuity.
If you need more functionality, consider something like the utterly fantastic Fluke 87V. But for casual use, where all you need is a quick voltage measurement, continuity test, or resistance measurement, the Klein MM500 offers decent bang for the buck in protected housing.
The street price was previously $40 the last I checked (6 months ago), and it was $50 when it launched in 2013.

Reminder: Amazon is offering a 20% discount on Extech tools for the holidays. My first two multimeter purchases were Extech models.

Nice. Like the fact there is no dial to mess with. Reminds me of my Fluke 12 Digital Multimeter.

I bought one of these in store at Home Depot for $26 or $27. Right now Home Depot is matching this price online, but you might be able to do better in store.
This combo – http://www.homedepot.com/p/Klein-Tools-6-Piece-Electrician-Tool-and-Test-Kit-92500/204643935 is also a pretty amazing deal for a basic electrician’s tool kit. Worth looking at for anyone who needs pliers.

At first I thought wow that is incredibly dangerous design; both voltage and resistance on the same leads wtf? But this model doesn’t test amperage so I suppose it’s physically separated. Kinda strange to lack both features and both lead points in a device called a “multimeter”. I’m not sure what this offers over thr other stand alone “voltmeters” they also have.

Home Depot has these on clearance now, found one for $13.03. Also, for what it’s worth, the military discount once again applies to reduced price items, at least around my area. For a while there the discount wouldn’t be applied if anything was on sale or clearance priced.

I wouldn’t mind having a spare for that price. Tomorrow or this weekend I’ll hit a couple of Home Depot stores and hopefully find one.
It brings up an interesting issue, though. Home Depot is the exclusive home improvement retailer for Klein and as such was supposed to carry the entire line. Since they do not, can another chain now pick these up along with the other items Home Depot isn’t selling?
