Klein Tools, best known for their electrical hand tools, launched a line of Resurgence EDC-style folding pocket knives.
These knives feature a D2 tool steel blade, ambidextrous crossbar locking mechanism, and lightweight glass-filled nylon handle.
Klein says that their Resurgence is one of the best everyday carry knives you can get for the price.

I’ve never seen Klein’s Resurgence folding knives until today, and found the design interesting.
They offer this knife with 3 different blade profiles and 4 handle colors.
Klein’s website – as well as online stores – list it as being a new addition to their catalog. There’s one Amazon review dating back to February, and so if not brand new, they’re at least very recent.
Digging deeper, I found that Amazon has a couple of them on sale.
The knife with a drop point blade shape and orange handle, for example, is on sale for $42.50, from $50. Amazon has it labeled as a “limited time deal.”
Looking at the tan-handled knife in particular, Amazon has a 30% coupon which takes the price down to $35. That’s for the drop point version.

The clip point is also on sale, with no coupon checkbox necessary, for $34.
$34 and $35 seem decent for folding knives with specs like these (D2 blade, glass-filled nylon handles). The knives also have a reversible belt clip.
After looking closer at each model, I found that the tanto style knife is also on sale, with black handle scales, for $35. A 25% coupon on top of that brings the price down to around $26.
The green-handled tanto version is just over $39 after a baked-in discount and separate coupon offer. The green-handled clip point is just under $35.
I haven’t tested these out, but the design looks respectable, especially for the price point.
I couldn’t tell you why specific styles are discounted to as low as $26, while others are full priced at $50.

The orange-handled knife has an AUS-8 stainless steel blade.
The coupons seem to require the user to be logged-in (via web, not app). It’s unclear if there are other criteria, such as Prime membership.
The tan-handled clip point version is back to full price.

I don’t see any coupons either but I do see that some versions are on sale, like the black tanto for $35.
As for why some specific versions are on sale and others aren’t? I don’t know why but I’ve seen that happen many times on Amazon with other products. Crocs (shoes) are a great example, the price seems to vary randomly based on color and size. I was going to suggest that maybe they are overstocked on some styles and are discounting them to clear them out but that doesn’t make sense for a brand new product.

Amazon does tend to price different colors and styles differently, such as with water bottles.

They’ve done stuff like this for a very long time, presumably to move less popular colors faster.
Other times, the pricing algorithms will change just to move an item or two, but there are some times where it just seems to break. For example, Mitutoyo 1000mm calipers are a fraction of their normal price. It’s just over $200 for meter-long calipers that are usually over $1000. Other sizes moved lower incrementally until someone bought one, then the prices sprung back up. This one has been out of stock and low priced for longer than usual.

I checked on my desktop PC (not app), I am a Prime member and I was logged in. I didn’t see any coupon offers, and I just checked a second time just to be sure. I am seeing discounts of varying amounts on some blade/color combinations but no coupons. There may be other factors on top of Prime membership regarding coupon availability.

These are sold by Amazon.
I suppose Amazon could selectively target different users, but I’ve never seen them do that, at least not for a few years since their “Gold Box” discount times.

Yes, that article seems written like it’s for 3rd party Amazon sellers. But I think if it’s logical to conclude that if Amazon offers this service to their sellers then it is quite likely they use it themselves. There must be some reason why the coupons are inconsistently available, and this is a plausible explanation.
Did you buy any Klein products recently from Amazon? If the answer is yes, that would support my guess.

Boy I hadn’t thought of Klein bikes in a long time. Not remotely related companies. I think it’s been 25 years or better since Trek bought out Klein and the name disappeared not long after. They had some really nice frames and paint!

The orange or green with drop point blade looks good to me. I like my Benchmade but don’t carry it because it is above the price where I’d be okay to use it hard or if it got lost on a job. If I saw this today at $35 in store, I’d buy it. Maybe even for $50.
I was given an older Klein knife around a month ago. It’s a copy of the Buck 110 and made in Japan.
Sheath and knife needs cleaning but it is very well made.

These look a lot better than the standard tool-company pocket knife. I wonder who makes them for Klein.
They’re so close to having a forward finger choil you’d think they would just round it off a bit and lean into that. I like the deep-carry pocket clip. The cross-bar lock is probably my favorite locking mechanism. 2.75oz is nice and light.
I would prefer a higher flat grind, but I suppose that wouldn’t work with that large cutout (e.g. the top would be wider than the bottom of the cutout so it would catch on things).
I would definitely consider this knife if it appears in Canada.

Just bought the Black Tanto for $26. I was logged in and have Prime and the coupon checkbox was there.
Not sure I want a Tanto blade, but for $26 I thought it was worth trying.

Very weird “sale”. seems targeted or regional somehow.
Following your links, and logged into Amazon, all the black versions are $50. The green and tan tanto points are $42, with the other Two blade variants $50. The orange only has a drop point option and is $42.50.
Though I will say, as a person that uses the “save to cart” feature for most project planning purchases, I’ve noticed a ton of volatility on item prices. Most times I log in, at least a dozen of the 50 items in my cart change price at any given time.
I do hope it’s not a thing to come, where pricing is individualized. I share a lot of deals with friends and family. That functionality would drastically change my spending habits if ‘they’ get a deal, and I can’t.
I doubt us mere mortals might never get a straight answer, but I’d love to know more how you got the deal and I didn’t. I have a ton of both knives and Klein gear in past orders, so in my mind, I would also be a perfect candidate for a targeted sale.
