I recently posted about a new Klein Tools set at Home Depot, one which I thought was a great deal. But it wasn’t the same as last year’s Klein electrician’s tool and test bundle that a lot of few readers said they regret missing out on.
Well, good news – there’s a similar 7-piece combo that just became available online and presumably in stores as well.

This set is a little different from last year’s, featuring most of the same tools except for electrician’s scissors and a stubby multi-bit screwdriver in place of diagonal cutters.
This seems like a great set for homeowners or apprentices whose only electrical tool might be a combination tool.
Price: $50
What You Get
- High Leverage Side Cutting Pliers D2139NE: ~$27.40
- Wire Strippers 11045: ~$15 | ~$11.34 via HD
- Cabinet-Tip Screwdriver 605-4: ~$8.50
- Phillips Screwdriver 603-4: ~$8.37
- Electrician’s Scissors 21007: ~$16
- Stubby Multi-Bit Screwdriver 32561: ~$10.56
- Non-Contact Voltage Tester NCVT1: ~$15
All of these tools, except for the wire strippers, are less expensive on Amazon than at HD or elsewhere that I could find.

So, given those prices, but with the lower HD price on the strippers, that gives this bundle a retail value of ~$97 if you were to buy each tool separately.
$97 in tools for just $50? Not bad!
I already have a number of these tools, but there are a few I could use, such as an extra voltage tester, the stubby multi-bit driver, the electrician’s scissors, and I could probably use an extra pair of lineman’s pliers.
Come to think of it, I could always use more Phillips screwdrivers, and I don’t think I have a good cabinet tip slotted screwdriver.
I’m ordering some other tools from Home Depot’s Pro Black Friday sale, and will be tacking on at least one of these sets. It’s just too good of a deal to pass up!
Dave
Wasn’t sure where to post this but bfads.com has the Home Depot Black Friday as posted as of 10 minutes ago.
Stuart
Thanks!
Nothing surprising there, but I’ll get a list of the tool deals up later today.
Zach
I think you have a typo.. shows 49.97 on the site.
Stuart
Whoops, thanks! That was supposed to be $50, not $59.
Shaun
I went to my local HD (central Va) on Thursday and these were not out.. Went by again yesterday and they were in the main isle in front off all of the other black friday displays, along with an Empire rafter square/bubble level combo.

Notwithstanding the very attractive packaged price, If I were buying extras on some Klein Tools – I’d think I’d want some extra capabilities from what I bought. Of course I’d have to pay a bundle more – unless Klein is listening and wants to make up these suggestions as a new bundle for next year:
For instance:
Maybe these strippers:
https://www.amazon.com/Klein-Tools-K1412-Tools-Kurve-Stripper/dp/B000F9HIEC/
Maybe one of these stubby ratcheting screwdrivers:
Klein 32593 or Klein 32594
Maybe these screwdrivers with bending bars:
Klein 603-4B and Klein 605-4B
Maybe this pair of pliers with a fish tape puller groove:
Klein D213-9ETP
Maybe this scissors:
Klein 2100-8
and this voltage detector
Klein NCVT-2
All available on Amazon – I would have posted links – but thought it might look like spam.
Stuart
That other bundle has more premium pliers and wire strippers. This one seems to be more of a brand intro or beginner starting point, where high bang for the buck is the goal.

Love the bold print!

Just a heads up that the Klein Tools “2100-7 Electrician’s Scissors” is the lower end of the two models. The Klein Tools 2100-9 Electrician’s Scissors is stainless steel. This one can and does rust if thats going to be a problem. For just a few more the 2100-9 is worth the upgrade. Though I can never find it in stock at Home Depot, only the lower end one.
fred
The scissors I listed above is another possible upgrade:

Sometimes also in stock at HD
John
Yeah that one is nice too but thats the “Klein Tools 2100-8 Free-Fall Snip” (which is Stainless Steel btw) but not as pocketable if you were looking for that 2100 size. It adds at least another inch to the length which may be a deal breaker to some.
fred
I’ve seen folks carrying this:

Now that’s what I’m talking about.

Klein makes great tools, but what I don’t understand is their branding. The linesman pliers have blue handles, but the wire strippers have yellow handles. If only they would match, then my OCD might let me buy more Klein.
Stuart
They have other strippers too, with the handles color-coded.
The yellow and red handles make them easier to pick out of a pouch.

Zac
Just picked this up at Home Depot today marked down to $38.

I just purchased this set (Electrician’s Wiring and Testing Kit (7-Piece)) at an HD in Phoenix. The price had been reduced to $38. I checked on the HD web page and it’s still listed there for$49.88 so it might be a local manager’s special. At $38, I could not pass up this deal – even though I don’t really “need” any of the tools.
Noah
Any notice of a combo deal for 2017?
Stuart
Yes, there are 2 small combos for the PRO Black Friday event, but they’re not very impressive. They’re good deals, but look like deals I’ve seen other times. I remember buying a 3pc set for $25. There’s a similar combo deal right now, but for $30. It may be worth posting about, but at the moment it’s a little low on the queue.
Noah
Sad. I was really hoping for another killer deal. I just really don’t need another pair of linesman pliers.
Stuart
This same 7-tool deal has been repeated, but it looks to be online only.
