KC Tool Deal of the Day: Knipex Hole Puncher (6/1/2015)

Knipex Revolving Punch Hole Cutter

Do you remember that post from the other day, where I asked for your thoughts on KC Tool? We partnered with KC Tool this month with a small banner ad deal, which you probably already noticed, but also for some nice reader incentives, such as collaborated Deals of the Day. I know what all of this week’s deals are going to be, because we discussed and arranged for them ahead of time.

The first deal for this week is a Knipex revolving punch hole cutter. Turn the punch turret to select a hole size, rotate it in place, and you’re ready to go.

A tool like this is useful for punching holes in leather, other textiles, and plastic materials, and you can probably use it on thinner rubber gasket materials too. It features 6 hole sizes and spring-action handles.

Hole sizes: 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.0 / 3.5 / 4.0 / 5.0 mm (diameter).

Sale Price: $19.50

Deal is valid 6/1/2015, thru 12:00am CT

I thought this would be a good deal idea, as hole punch cutters are the type of tool that you either buy for a specific purpose, or pre-emptively buy to have around. There were at least 4 occasions in recent months where I wish I had one of these for immediate use.

Generic no-name hole punch tools start at around $10-15. With this one, you get a strong-branded model for just under $20. Add a couple of other items to your cart and get free shipping on your $50+ order.

Here’s a quick demo video KC Tool put together to show you how it works:

KC Tool deals kick off at midnight and last for 24 hours, possibly unless they sell out quicker.

This is really cool that we know about the sale items in advance! Thanks!

This looks like a pretty decent tool at a good price. The Standard for the industry has always been the C.S. Osborne 155 (made in NJ USA – and is available in 6 and 7 punch varieties) – its a bit more robust (solid handles) – but sells for substantially more (almost $71 at Amazon). The Osborne 223 (about $14 at Amazon) is a lower-end alternative.

Wow. One of these days I might pick up both to see what kind of a quality difference you get for 5X the price.

I own a pair of these Knipex hole punches, they work well. Only thing they need is some nice dipped handles or something and it would be better. Hard to beat for the price.

Another tool you might not have seen before.

We use it to cut holes into heavy duty tent fabric. Like large festival structure tents.

I paid $40 for mine in 1998. What you get for the money is screw in/out cutter tubes – which can be sharpened or replaced, a brass anvil that is also replaceable, a very smooth and positive click-stop wheel and solid smooth-polished handles – which have stood up to the use by hundreds of cub scouts and boy scouts (sometimes chastised for punching holes in tin cans) over the last 17 years

Are the sale prices online only or are they walk-in as well? I’ve been looking for an excuse to have a look in their shop.

Good question. I’d assume the price would be good online and in-store.

Any ideas on pricing on the security set and the wera micro-drivers?

A little more than $10 savings on the Wiha security bit set, and a little more than $20 savings on the Were Micro screwdriver set. Unless my info is wrong, but I doubt that it is.

You’ll have to check back later in the week for exact pricing.

I think it would be smart of them to have a few deals happening at once. If I buy these, and the other deals as the week goes on, I’ll drop $50 just for shipping.

If I could bundle them and only pay shipping once, it would make Amazon look much less appealing. Even though Amazon’s price is higher, after shipping, it’s lower.
