Deal: Knipex Tools on Sale at Menards

7 inch Knipex Pliers Wrench at Menards

Through April 11th, 2015, Menards is discounting pretty much all of the Knipex tools they carry — online and in-store. I spotted this deal in the Sunday circular ad and then went Monday morning to check it out. Indeed, every pair of Knipex pliers I could find had a purple sale tag on them.

The savings on each tool varies quite a bit. Menards discounts some of the tools by $10 or more — like the 7″ pliers wrench which normally sells for $47 and is discounted to $35. Other tools, such as Knipex’ 10″ Alligator pliers (reg. priced at $23), are only discounted by 10%.

Tempting: Knipex Pliers Wrench Intro

Knipex 9 inch high leverage linesman pliers at Menards

Here are some of the better deals:

  • Knipex Orbis Angled Cable Cutter — $50
  • Knipex 9″ Linesman Comfort Grip Pliers — $40
  • Knipex High Leverage Angled Diagonal Pliers — $30
  • Knipex 7-1/4″ Pliers Wrench — $35
  • Knipex 10″ Pliers Wrench — $40

Don’t fret if you’re not within driving distance of a Menards store, they’ve extended the deal to their online store too. Unfortunately, you’re going to have to deal with shipping and handling charges.

For instance, to ship the same 7″ Pliers Wrench to my house is $34.99+$2.80 handling+$2.76 economy shipping, or $40.55 before tax. Still not bad considering that the cheapest online price I could find was $46 shipped.

Menards won’t ship to addresses outside the US or to PO boxes, but I checked several different US locations and the shipping and handling charges appear to stay the same.

Also, shipping charges increased as I added items to my order, so it looks like it’s based on purchase value, whereas the handling charges seem to based upon the number of different items you buy, because adding two of an item didn’t increase this charge.

be careful. Menards charges a 25% restocking fee on returned online merchandise. Found that out when returning something the other day. I would have never purchased something from them online, had I known that policy. Doesn’t apply in-store, so I’ll stick with that

That’s good to know, I’ve never actually bought something online from Menards.

I’m lucky enough that there’s about 7 or 8 of them withing easy driving distance, so if a store is out of something, I’ll have them look it up at another location. Although I have been burned several times by incorrect inventory, so now I call.

Stuart–Does that best price of $46.00 (shipped) include Chads Toolbox? I haven’t purchased anything from Chads lately, but their past prices were really good on Knipex tools. Amazon usually has a good price on most tools, and Prime Shipping gets it to you in a hurry. The only other additional cost is local (California) taxes.

I didn’t check Chad’s Toolbox directly, but did run it through a few price search engines. Checking out the same 7″ pliers wrench on Chad’s: $40.49+$5.95 shipping is $46.44. On par with Amazon.

Chad’s Toolbox is definitely more user friendly than the Menards site.

Its too bad they don’t have their brown bag sale or their 11% off sale too this week. Still a great sale none the less.

Sadly I don’t need any more pliers so I can’t take advantage of this

Sometimes if you alert Amazon to a lower price, they will adjust their price until Menard’s price changes

Thanks for the heads up. I was in town and picked up the linesman pliers and the Orbis angled nose pliers at Menards.

Tough question, but thanks for asking! I’d go with NWS, but it really comes down to personal preference. Here’s a longer discussion about the matter: https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/knipex-or-nws-pliers/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E

Thanks for the heads up. I don’t live near Menards, but today I made a trip to the big city near to where there is one and got a couple of the pliers wrenches.

Ordered a set of the 7 1/4 inch pliers wrench from Menards and it took over a week to ship and they shipped the incorrect pliers. They sent me the 10 inch Cobra Water Pump pliers. Not a happy camper and not likely to ever order from Menards again.

That sucks, I’m sorry about your experience. I have no clue whether that’s just bad luck or a pervasive problem, as I don’t have any experience with their online business.
