Kobalt Hypercoil LED Light; FYI-I just picked up 3 today at Lowes in Brooklyn NY and they were $17.98 each.

He’s right. The Lowes near us is also selling the Kobalt Hypercoil LED worklight for $18 each. Well, $17.98 to be exact. Just a few days ago we reported its drop from $30 to $25 and then to $20.
If you recall from our Kobalt Hypercoil review, we feel this to be a decent LED worklight for the money. We bought ours for $30 and thought that was a decent price.
Buy Now(via Lowes)
The 5 Lowes stores closest to us all report having a couple of hundred of these worklights still in stock. Combined, the 5 stores have more than 1500 Hypercoil worklights in stock. I don’t see how they can move that many flashlights with just 2 shopping days left before Christmas. The same is true for some of their other holiday-timed Kobalt tools.
The product page is saying that this price will be valid thru 3/31/2014. With the sheer number of flashlights still in stock in stores, there’s plenty of time to pick one up. No need to rush.
Lowes has also dropped the prices of Kobalt’s Magnum Grip locking pliers and Triple Cut multi-cutters, but we don’t think those tools are worth buying, even at a hefty discount.

Thank you Roy for the tip!

I was in Lowes last night and saw their 34 piece combo wrench set was selling for $25. A month ago this set was $100 and then they dropped the price to $50 for black Friday. Looks like they may be clearing out inventory perhaps?
Stuart
Lowes can be unpredictable and I have given up on trying to understand their intentions. My local stores have that set (link) for $29.
Since this was a holiday-timed set, they most likely are trying to clear them out. Lowes seems to have a LOT more unsold holiday tool displays this year than last.
Reminder: Lowes can do price adjustments on tools up to 30 days after purchase and allows returns up to 90 days later. So if the Hypercoil or wrench set drop further, it can’t hurt to seek a price adjustment. Or do a return and rebuy.

I’m seeing more and more sale ads, and some unadvertised in store only sales as well. I wonder if retailers didnt overestimate the Christmas shopping rush. I’d grab one of these lights, but I got all the LED work lights I needed in-store a week or so ago, so I am more than set for my own use, and gifts, as well.
Stuart
Something definitely went wrong. All of the Lowes stores nearest to me still have hundreds of these LED flashlights still in stock, as well as hundreds of the other holiday tools. As mentioned, the 5 closest locations combined still have over 1500 units in stock.
I’m sure they still sold a bunch online, as the “special free pouch bundles” are currently sold out, but when I stopped by my local Lowes yesterday their in-store displays were barely dented.
At this point, Lowes probably just wants these tools gone as quick as possible.

I will pick one up next time at Lowes if they are only $17.98. Thanks!
But its me!
I thought about grabbing one when the price dropped to $20, but after playing with one of the floor models (at the $17.98 price) was not impressed. The floor model was was in less than perfect shape, including missing a magnet, but did not look too abused. What pushed me away from purchasing it was that the light would not stay on, flickering with handling, no matter how much I tightened the connection or played with the switch. I suspect Lowe’s will drop the price further as they do not sell.

I could really use this light, I hope youpick me for the give away

I bought one for my brother last week. I agree that this is a under $20 tool. Handy and nice.

I have one and it is a great tool for the price! Haven’t used the AA battery holder, but the rechargeable battery works really well. I recently used it while working on my car and the magnet is plenty strong to hold it (however, it can easily be knocked over).
Don’t forget you can remove the neck and attach it directly as a short handle flashlight.
Brian
I had one on my job for about 3 weeks, the magnets were not strong enough the switch was annoying to go through all the selections and then the lens fell out and I never found it. Tossed it in the trash and went back to cheap HF lights.

I have found this little light to be the little light that could. I purchased it at the $30 MSRP but it has been well worth that price! I have found it to be very reliable and puts out a decent amount of light for helping to get the job done. Thanks!!

I tried this out at Lowes Friday and seems really cheaply made. I’m going to pass on it.
Kevin
down to 6.98 now at Lowes, I may finally grab one of these
Eric
