These new Kobalt Triple Cut utility multi-cutters are scissor-like tools that can be used to cut a variety of materials around the home. One multicutter jaw holds a replaceable knife blade, and the other is a flat anvil.
If you need to use the Kobalt Tripe Cut cutters on objects that won’t fit within the jaws, simply pivot the lower jaw away to expose the cutter blade. This allows the Triple Cut to be used like a utility cutter or saw.

First Impression
I am not quite sure why Kobalt named these utility cutters Triple Cut, but maybe they can be described as having 3-in-1 functionality as they can be used in a scissor-like fashion, or like a utility knife or razor saw when the lower jaw is pivoted back.
The smaller Kobalt Triple Cut looks like it might accept standard utility knife blades, while the larger one takes 4″ blades. Replacement blades are available for the larger Triple Cut cutter, but for how long?
Both tools feature a ruler scale on their lower jaws, which help if you want to measure out what you’re cutting.
$20 seems like a good deal for what you get. I tend to dislike utility cutters that require proprietary blades, but at least replacement blades seem to be readily available.
These types of utility cutters are great for cutting rope, tubing, nylon zip ties, and other such materials. Since the jaws can be spread, the cutters can also be used on materials such as plastic packaging and cardboard boxes.

Ridgid also sells a similar tool such as this named the CutRite II, but not only is this 100% American made, but can be purchased via Harry J Epstein. I own that tool and it’s one of the best tools I own.
Back in day, Craftsman used to manufacture the Handi Cut in America as well and I own the American made version. Whilst the blades are still American made, the tool itself hasn’t been that way in a very long time. Despite that factor, that tool is much more expensive than the USA made Ridgid or even this Kobalt variation.

These are also great for cutting tubing for liquid-cooled computers. By far, they make the best cut. I have a similar cutter from craftsman.

Actually, for liquid and water-cooling tubing, I use a dedicated tubing cutter, such as this one. In the past I used push-lock fittings and quick disconnects, which fit tubing a little more securely if tubing is cut as close to 90° as possible.

I also have the craftsman version. Awesome for tubing and rope. I would like to change out to a pair that used standard blades instead of some special size. Either way, it is something everyone should have a pair of.

The five Craftsman’s I own:Accu-Cut 37310, 2 1/2″ blade. Handi-Cut 9-37201, 3/3/4″ blade. Handi-Cut 9-37200, 2 3/8″ blade. Handi-Cut Wire Cutter 937205, 1″ replaceable blade. Craftsman 37309, uses standard utility knife blades. The Accu -Cut features blade storage, wire cutter blade near pivot (replaceable), thumb release, and the anvil retracts 1/2″ to expose blade end to use as cutter. First 4 U.S.A made, last one China, but it is built robustly has blade storage and thumb release. the Handi-Cuts have wire release at handle ends.

Where can I get replacement blades for larger kobalt triple cut that is a 4inch blade???? I went to Lowes and they do not have them any more . This cutter is great for cutting down small branches and old flowers stems.

Search for “long utility razor blades” and you will come across replacements. Or look at automotive specialty tool stores. These blades are used for windshield removal.

Great tool for cutting popsicle sticks when working on craft items that need sticks cut.
I secure the Kobalt triple cutter with a clamp that allows the cutter to stay upright and unobstructed when cutting popsicle sticks
