Kreg Rip Cut Saw Guide

Kreg is releasing a new circular saw guide, the Rip-Cut, that they describe as a faster and easier way to rip plywood and other sheet goods. The Rip-Cut can be used on materials 1/8″ to 24″ wide, and is reversible for right-hand or left-hand use.

The Rip-Cut is said to connect with “most” circular saws. It is priced at $35 and will be available in April 2012. While the Rip-Cut looks neat, it’s basically a near-universal rip-fence. We’re more fans of guide rails and edge-clamps.

It might not be a bad buy for the guy who only needs it for occasional use, provided it gives decent accuracy.

The big difference between this and the Accurip sold at Sears and Lowe’s, is this works with left blade saws as well as right blade saws. Saw a home made version on Youtube with a longer fence, as well as enlarged versions of the fence that comes with or sold separate from saws.

Agree with the idea of the home cooked rip guide, but I do like Kreg jigs, especially the angle jig for crown molding, not expensive, but works well with different spring angles.

My Porter Cable 423MAG type 1 which is a left hand version is not one of the”most” saws. The base plate is thicker than the Rip-Cut and thus does not give a good fit. The guide cannot be zeroed out and the variance is 3/16 which must be compensated. The guide arm does slide smoothly even after an application of dry slide lubricant. Not the results I am used to with Kreg products. The saw could be the issue here. Back to the old jig and clamps.
