Lagesse Lasquare Combination Square

LaGesse Products, a small machinist and design shop in Missouri, has come out with a new super-sized combination square that they claim is easier and quicker to read. Bigger = better? Yes! Have you ever tried to use a standard combination square on anything other than wood boards or sheets? It can be quite frustrating.

LaGesse’s LaSquares feature 2″-wide bases that can much more easily register across odd shaped materials such as round tubing, square tubing, handrails, pipes, crown molding, cement blocks, and wooden posts.

There are several squares available – a 12″ version with a stamped stainless steel blade and 12″, 18″, and 24″ squares with precision ground machinist blades. The squares’ bases are 5″ long, 2″ wide, and 4″ tall, with 90° square and 45° miter faces precision ground.

Each hardened and tempered blade is 1″ wide and 3/32″ thick. All blades have precision etched markings that are black-filled for improved readability. Graduations are at 1/8″, 1/16″, 1/32″, and 1/64″ increments.

Prices vary from $36 to $93 depending on style and size. These squares are 100% made in the USA.

Very nice! My first thought was: “Are there plans for a steel base instead of the aluminum?” Then I thought: “With the aluminum base – how about imbedded rare earth magnets?”
This addresses one of my biggest complaints of the standard Combination Square (the narrow base).
