I keep waiting for a good Leatherman Skeletool multi-tool deal, but haven’t found one yet. But what I did find was good pricing on Leatherman multi-tool and knife combo gift sets.
I bought one of these knives in the Fall, for $25. With that in mind, I think these gift sets are a good value, despite not being as good as previous years’ Skeletol multi-tool-only holiday sales.

But, even if the Skeletool multi-tool were on sale, it’s highly likely that it would have only been on the standard stainless steel model. It’s rare to find deals on colored versions of Leatherman multi-tools.
Over at Amazon, a 3rd party retailer has several new Leatherman Skeletool multi-tool and Skeletool KBX knife bundle packs up, and priced at $60.
While not a great deal, it at least looks like a good one. If you look at colored Leatherman tools, than this deal does look a lot better. The Skeletool multi-tool in blue, green, or black, is $50 by itself.

So-so of a deal… not like the HD one from a while back when I got mine. But having said that, I’m glad I have one in my pocket, it has come in most handy many times and can take some abuse without issue…. or rather I’ve not found what breaks or damages it.
The worst I can say about it… the handles for the pliers are not ergonomic. I had to put in a new adapter for trailer lights in a parking lot of a car parts store… got the cutting and crimping all done, but my hands were not too happy.

I have to agree. They aren’t comfortable to use. If I needed to carry these tools with me every day, I would carry around a little knife, a small pair of pliers (maybe lineman’s) and a stubby bit-holder screwdriver. Stronger, more comfortable, and cheaper, but taking up a bit more space. Also I already have them.
They do make dandy Christmas presents though. 🙂

I have to agree as well. I kick myself for not picking up more of the Skeletools from last year. $25 was a heck of a deal for what you got. Even better for me was the local HD still had oodles left and eventually marked them down to $10 a piece just after New Years. I bought two for myself at $25 and figured if I needed more they would be back this year. I keep one in the gear bag and the other in my pockets when I’m wearing business casual clothes. When I’m in the field with work clothes on though I’ve migrated to using a combination of the small size Milwaukee Fastback knife with extra blades, a 6″ Knipex Cobra Plier, a 6″ Knipex Pliers Wrench, and a Wera Kraftform driver and bits all in a leather belt case. This combo is way more handy than the Skeletool but obviously takes up more room and costs more. If it’s an office day I still carry the Skeletool only with me.

I love my skeletool. Bought one 2 years ago only to have it stolen a year later. Luckily it was right b4 christmas. So I got another from HD last year. I broke the pliers cutting metal banding and they replaced them no questions asked. I was really sad they dis not have them this year. Leatherman makes nice tools.

I’ve found that the Skeletool is the best “light duty” multitool out there. My Skeletool CX fell in the pasture and was stomped on by horses and left buried in frozen mud for months before I found it – wiped it off and still works great. The regular Skeletool I got while the CX was missing gets used daily – to cut open bales of hay, open boxes from Amazon, strip and cut wire, and just generally for the basic tasks around the house & property. This is great because it doesn’t have tons of tools you never use, it opens with one hand, great clip to stick on belt loop or key chain, and it’s the perfect size and weight.
I’m not the type of person who keeps a knife or multitool on them at all times, but I grab this one every time I go outside to do anything – and I always find myself using it.
So tempted to buy the green set for my wife so she quits stealing mine!

Oh, and I broke one of my Skeletools pliers while trying to cut wire that was far too big for the cutter (one half of the pliers just snapped off) – mailed it to Leatherman and they sent me back a new one a few days later, no questions asked. Couldn’t be happier with it

I picked up a couple of these when HD had them on sale last year.
Great little tool with the exception of the stupid serrated knife blade (if I wanted a half assed saw, I’d buy a half assed saw). Just be aware that Letterman’s customer service will not (as opposed to can not) sell you a plain edged blade to replace the serrated one.

That’s what frosted me.
Plain edged blades are readily available from after-market re-sellers, so, they make them – but, for some unexplained reason, Letterman won’t sell them to you.

This was what I received from Letterman when I inquired about obtaining straight blades for my Skeletools:
