Lowe’s Kobalt White and Pink Mini Tool Boxes are Back

Kobalt Pink and White Tool Boxes at Lowes for 2024

Lowe’s Kobalt mini tool boxes were highly sought after last holiday season, with the pink and white colors being in the most demand.

Do you remember the Stanley Quencher water bottle craze? There was similar fervor over these mini Kobalt tool boxes at Lowe’s.

The Kobalt mini tool boxes are back in stock at Lowe’s in the same colors – white, pink, blue, and black.

Kobalt Pink Tool Boxes on Upper Shelf at Lowes for 2024

Looking around the store for Flex Stack Pack tool boxes, which have been purged from my local Lowe’s, I found plenty more pink mini tool boxes in the upper racks.

Lowe’s seems hoping and ready for heavy demand.

Unfortunately, the tool boxes are marked as “unavailable for purchase online.” Lowe’s also isn’t allowing ordering for in-store pickup, and isn’t showing in-store inventory levels.

In other words, if you’re interested in one of these mini tool boxes, you’ll have to hoof it to your local Lowe’s and seek them out.

Or, call your local store and ask for an inventory check. Here are the SKUs and model numbers:

  • Pink: Item #5462039, Model #54422
  • White: Item #5462035, Model #54417

Last time, there were plenty of blue and black tool boxes at various times throughout the holiday season. The pink sold out the fastest, and then the white ones.

Price: $20

See it at Lowe’s

Other brands and retailers undoubtedly saw that these were a hit at Lowe’s last November, and that the tool boxes drove in a lot of foot traffic. It will be interesting to see if competitive offerings emerge for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or the holiday season later this year.

These are cool. Lowes shut down in Canada before they ever appeared here – which is too bad because I want one.

The lowes here was taken over by Rona, but they still sell Kobalt brand. Might be worth checking out a Rona/Rona+.

Stuart, LOL. I just posted in the Ryobi/Makita Home Depot that I saw Pink Kobalt boxes at Lowes near me (about 7 were left on Saturday afternoon). I got one for my little girl.

I saw these at my Lowe’s over the weekend. They used to offer it in red and I would have bought one had they had it in red. I wonder if Craftsman gave a thumbs down to Lowe’s selling it in red.

Judging by the low number of comments, mini pink and white tools boxes are not exciting a lot of people.

Anyone who’s remotely interested will be glad for the heads-up.

People are already flipping them on ebay for $37 to $50 plus shipping.

Stuart, I think the comment numbers still support my observation. Not counting the comments in this mini-thread, there are still only 6 comments today. 30 is more typical.
Honestly, I don’t know whether to trust the “number sold” values on E-bay.

I don’t know how fired up the Toolguyd crowd is about these but they seem to be popular. My Lowe’s had a bunch about two weeks ago–they had two full pallets in the main isle of the store plus others on shelves near the tool storage, and that’s just what I happened to notice. When I was there yesterday morning there were just a few left.

@Robert, I don’t understand what point you are trying to make.

You don’t like these tool boxes and are trying to say in a roundabout way that no one else does either?

I would caution you against using comment count as any kind of metric other than the number of comments.

I totally support others’ rights to make whatever purchases they choose. I was just putting in perspective these boxes don’t seem that interesting judging by comment counts.

I’m a casual reader here and never comment, but I found out about these tool boxes last year from Stuart and made a special trip to Lowes to pick one up. It’s nice to see they are back, especially in the colors that were hardest to find.

I like the pit boxes myself as I own both. I have gotten at least 6 pit boxes for the woman and other female relitives or makeup. The guys wanted them for gunsmithing supplies. Even though there way more money I find them way more useable.

I picked up a pink and a white one for my daughters the first day I saw them. Worth a trip to Lowe’s, but if you have to order online the loophole is that they’re on DoorDash.

I bought a pair of them (blue and white) last year during the Black Friday sale.

They fit almost perfectly on a built-in shelf next to my CNC machine — taking a while to cut drawer liners for them was a big improvement, but the draw mechanism still feels a bit cheap.

Currently using them to store adhesives and not much else (haven’t been willing to do a full transition and pull _everything_ out of the small plastic bins they are in and then make new holders in size(s) suitable to the drawers and the top. That would have been a lot easier if I’d started with them, rather than iterating through various plastic organizers.

I didn’t comment because my Lowes stores have only had black or blue for a couple of days before they’re gone. And the app will not show stock levels at the stores because they want people to drive to stores and upsell the dollar value of the cart.

I’m tired of getting burned by the ebayers.

So, if it happens, it happens. Not going to go out of my way on a hunt. There’s just no joy in shopping at big box stores any more. Especially not at today’s price of gas.

Does anyone know the inside dimensions of the drawers, including depth? It’s not provided on the Lowes site. These might make a really nice host for some Gridfinity drawer organizers in a few places around my house, but I can’t make that call without knowing what they’d hold.

$20 is about the same price as the amount of filament they’d take to print or the plywood to build something similar. Buying these would save a lot of time. It takes hours for me to get to a Lowes, but I could send a relative if I knew they’d work.

      The unit I have is:

      Top 5/8 x10 3/4L x 5 3/4

      Top drawer 1 1/8 x 9L x5

      Bottom drawer 2 1/8 x 8 7/8 x 4 15/16

I would expect variation between boxes and batches on these.
