Makita Cordless Track Saw Deal – More FREEBIES for Holiday 2020!

Makita Cordless Track Saw Holiday 2020 Bundle Deal

Here’s a new early Black Friday 2020 tool deal, featuring Makita’s 18V X2 cordless track saw. We’ve seen a couple of different Makita track saw deal bundles in the past, but this one’s a bit different.

Buy the Makita brushless track saw kit, XPS01PTJ, and you get a free 39″ guide rail AND a free sub-compact brushless impact driver.

A free bare-tool sub-compact impact driver? Sure, that’s kind of random, but it’s a great impact driver nonetheless.

The guide rail typically retails for $79, and the brushless impact driver, XDT15ZB, typically retails for $109.

Makita Track Saw Bundle

This promo is based on the Makita XPS01PTJ kit, which comes with the brushless track saw, (2) 5Ah batteries, 2-port simultaneous charger, and 2 modular tool boxes to hold it all in.

  • 6-1/2″ blade size
  • Can plunge-cut
  • 2500-6300 variable speed
  • Easy depth adjustment with scale
  • Dual bevel supports
  • -1° to 48° bevel range
  • 22.5° and 45° bevel stops
  • 2-3/16″ cutting capacity at 90°
  • 1-9/16″ cutting capacity at 45°
  • Works with (2) Makita 18V Li-ion batteries
  • On-board battery fuel gauge

It can be used with or without a guide rail, and with or without dust collection.

The deal is valid while supplies last, or thru January 24th, 2021. The bonus items are automatically added to your cart.

Price: $499 with free shipping

Should You Buy it?

Well, do you need or want a cordless track saw? This is a great saw, and while the free bonus impact driver bare tool is unexpected, that’s an extra free bonus that wasn’t previously included in this deal bundle.

It’s not a question of buying it – I highly recommend this saw – but a question of should you buy it now. I see no reason to wait, or at least I haven’t seen anything to suggest that better deals are waiting.

At the time of this posting, the promo looks to be excluded from Makita’s $25 off $100 select tools holiday discount, and that’s likely the same at other dealers.

There might be other deals later in the holiday season, but based on historical pricing, it’s unlikely for this bundle deal to get any better or less expensive. Adding an impact driver into the bundle all but guarantees that it won’t move from the $499 price point.

The other retailers I’ve checked are not (yet?) offering any bonus items with the track saw kit.

I was hoping for a deal on this saw this year, but I don’t really need another impact driver.

I was finally going to push the button on the Makita deal this year but was expecting the two extra batteries. Is this a better deal?

I would have bit on this as one of my Christmas presents if it were 2 extra batteries – rather than an impact driver thrown in. As it is I’m waiting on the Home Depot Makita Rear Handle 36V (18 x2) deal to go live . That’s $249 now – but the deal throws in 2 extra batteries for the same price. I bought one before as a gift and plan to buy another as a gift this year.

BTW – I see that ToolsPlus has a $25 off $100 on Makita deal going – using Code MAKITA25. It might be worth a look to comparison shop – they do free shipping – and depending on locale seem to skip the sales tax:

I’m keeping an eye out for that promo as well, but it’s not guaranteed to come back.

It looks like this deal is *replacing* the bonus batteries deal.

Tool Nut’s promo has a January 2021 expiration – last year their 2019 promo on this saw had a January 2020 expiration. What are the chances they’re going to have two separate bonuses? The way this promo works, you add the saw kit to your cart, and the bonuses are added automatically, meaning this deal doesn’t have a unique SKU to allow other bundle options to possibly appear alongside it.

It *is* possible the deal will expand to give more freebie options, but that’s unlikely. I don’t recall ever seeing multiple options before.

But, there’s a strong chance other dealers will have bundle promos on this saw. Either it’ll be the same bundle option, or perhaps different.

If you’re on the fence, there’s little harm in waiting, as it’s only the start of November.

It has gone live. They may be out of stock. Mine arrives tomorrow, and plenty of people on various forums have taken advantage of the deal.

This deal would have put another color to my toolbox, but with personal economics the only buy I see is a little more time for Team Red to catch up to Makita’s track saw and OPE.

The saw is every bit as good as the Festool, even better in some respects as it offers anti-tip and the pre-scoring features.

The stock Makita blade is quite excellent.

The rails are the exact equivalents to the Festool rails (the earlier Mak rails were a bit lighter weight).

There’ll be better deals nearer to BF I’d guess.

And the 10’ rails can be had for as low as $175 shipped, but you’ve got to do a lot of comparison shopping as the prices and/or shipping costs vary hugely.

My experience with the longer Festool rails – is that you want to find a source that will repackage the rail in a crate to keep it from being bent in shipping. We had issues with a 2700mm (8.8 ft.) rail getting bent by UPS – but the one I bought for myself (via Amazon) came via a private shipper in a wooden crate – and was fine.

BTW – I hear that the Betterley SLC23 does an good job connecting shorter rails:

        https://www.toolnut.com/accessories/saw-accessories/track-saw-accessories/betterley-slc23-straightline-connector-for-festool-guide-rails.html

I may have to give it a try myself

Fred my 118 makita rail came from toolnut.com with 1/4 hardboard all the way around.
Living rural I had to pay$120 just for the shipping.
Love my makita, over our corded festool, the cordless on jobsites is so worth it!
Was a deal 3 yrs ago,HD had it on sale and clearance.
4 batteries, 55 rail, for $300 which was what I paid for the larger rail by itself.
With makita premium $ for batteries ,I would prefer them over an impact driver.

I know it is a great saw, and I want a track saw, but I need this in Orange or Lime!
Maybe Blue. But then that is again another battery platform. And, I already have multiple impact drivers too, so less coin or more batteries would be a better option than another impact.

I purchased the saw with the extra batteries 2 years ago after a Toolguyd deal post. The saw is excellent and has really changed my workflow when it comes to sheet goods. Its actually what tipped me to the Makita battery platform. Up until then, I had Ryobi as my 18V system (like I’m sure lots of DIYer do). Makita’s top impact driver, the XDT16Z is also an excellent tool…probably the best tool I have.

The two batteries would be more useful for me, since I’m in the ecosystem. However, the subcompact series isn’t bad.

They changed to the 39″ a couple of seasons ago.

Well, a free impact driver is better than no free impact driver, as for the last (spring?) promo.

Some deals change and never return again. It’s unclear as to if that’s what’s happening here, we have to wait and see.

Thank you for pointing that out!
A 39” rail is as useful as size 10 shoes for me.
Since when do we buy 3×8 sheet goods?
I’d think it would have to be 52” minimum.

I have 2 of the 55” the 39” I use on doors and all 3 for 10 foot goods. The Bentley SLC takes the guesswork out when putting the tracks together I used a 12” Speed square but the Bentley is a real timesaver

I’m in the market for a track saw, but not for another battery system. I wish this was corded.

I may be in the minority, but I just don’t see the point of a cordless tool that I’ll be hooking up to a dust collector. If I was a contractor doing onsite work, I’d be more excited about the cordless aspect. But for a guy in a shop, I just don;’t see the point.

I picked last year’s deal and have enjoyed using it since then.

My only issue at the moment is that, lately, the blade won’t always start.
If I give the blade a nudge, then it starts right up. I’m guessing its some sort of sensor/switch that has gotten loose – any ideas?

I would call Makita customer service – chances are they’ll know what to advise if others have experienced a similar issue. Is there any sawdust on the shaft or in the switch recess? That’s probably not it, but worth a quick check.

Removed the dust cover over the blade, removed the blade, cleaned it all up and put it back together – seems to be working perfect now.

The saw and track are great.

I picked up this Festool Rapid Clamp, which is a great accessory:
        https://www.woodcraft.com/products/fs-rapid-clamp-w-fixed-jaw

Also took advantage of the Amazon Bessey Clamp deal the other day to pick up a pair of GTR16S6H All Steel Ratcheting Table Clamp which also work great with the track.

Has anyone used the GRC-12 Self Aligning Guide Rail Connectors for connecting multiple tracks?

They come in pairs and seem to be a simple design for a good price if they work well. Looks like one goes in the track underneath and one in the track on top
