Makita has brought out a new 18V cordless brushless power tool combo kit for the 2018 holiday season, model XT333X1.
Amazon has the Makita XT333X1 cordless kit listed as a “save up to 30% on Makita combo kits” special buy, but at the moment it’s marked currently unavailable, with no pricing or purchase option. (Amazon link.)

Makita XPH12Z Brushless Hammer Drill
This is Makita’s combo kit mid-sized compact brushless hammer drill. Compared to the “holiday special” that I bought in last year’s $99 kit – which is a great model by the way – the XPH12Z has the same on-paper max torque, but faster speeds.

In other words, this isn’t a “holiday special” or dialed-back model, it’s their everyday pro-grade compact brushless hammer drill.
- 1/2″ chuck
- 530 in-lbs max torque
- 0-500/0-2000 RPM
- 0-7500/0-30K IPM
- 7-1/8″ long
- Weighs 4 lbs
Makita XDT13Z
Similarly, the XDT13Z brushless impact driver is their everyday compact single-speed model, available in combo kits and as a standalone tool (which is also true for the drill).
- 1/4″ hex chuck
- 1500 in-lbs max torque
- 0-3400 RPM
- 0-3600 IPM
This brushless impact driver is also featured by itself, in a holiday season special buy kit, XDT131.

Makita XSH03Z
Makita came out with their XSH03 brushless circular saw back in 2015, at which time they described it as a “category leader,” attributing that to the saw’s compact size, brushless motor, and innovative features such as the Automatic Speed Change technology that adjusts the speed and torque during operation, for optimum performance.
It has a magnesium base and XPT sealing for better protection in harsh jobsite conditions.
This is Makita’s everyday combo kit and bare tool brushless 6-1/2″ circular saw.
- 6-1/2″ blade size
- 6000 RPM
- “Automatic Speed Change” technology
- Weighs 7.3 lbs with battery
- Blade brake
Thoughts About the Combo Kit
It’s an EXCELLENT value when you take into consideration that you’re not just getting the 3-tool combo kit for the money.
For $399, you get the XT333X1 brushless combo kit, PLUS free bonus tools. Right now there are promos at Acme Tools and Home Depot, and we might see other deals of a similar nature.
The 3pc brushless power tool combo kit is a decent value for the money. But when you take into account that you get a couple hundred dollars of MORE stuff – tools, batteries, or both – without having to drop more cash, it becomes even more compelling.

Another Makita Brushless Combo Kit Deal – XT446T
I tried to price out the components of the Makita XT333X1 combo kit, and I could not do so for under its $399 price. But, that led me to another combo kit, XT446T.
Shopping around, I see prices of $470, $480, and $484. But at Amazon, it’s currently $331.
This combo kit comes with:
- XPH12Z brushless hammer drill
- XDT13Z brushless impact driver
- XSH03Z brushless circular saw
- DML802 LED flashlight
- (2) BL1850B 5.0Ah batteries with built-in fuel gauge
- Charger
- Carrying bag
In other words, it’s the same combo kit as the 3pc discussed above, but with an LED worklight, and 2x 5.0Ah batteries (the other kit has 2.0Ah and 4.0Ah batteries). AND, while it doesn’t come with any free bonus tools, it’s $68 less (as of the time of this posting).
So, if you really only want to buy a drill, impact, and circular saw, this kit gives you higher capacity battery packs, an LED light, and it saves you some money.
The other kit is a better value if you want a lot more for a $68 bump-up in price. But, if you don’t, this is an excellent bargain.

If price wasn’t a consideration, I’d go with one of the XT333X1 promos. Via the Acme Tools promo, I’d opt for the bonus 6.0Ah battery and either the brushless router or 5.0Ah battery 2-pack. Via the Home Depot promo, I’d opt for the brushless router and 5.0Ah battery 2-pack. Or maybe the battery 2-pack and the compact reciprocating saw.

LXT line is fairly new right? I am looking to switch from a 10 year old craftsman set for general home projects and looking for a combo that would last a similar amount of time.
Stuart
No, it’s been around for many years now. Makita has been expanding it steadily.

@Stuart
Hi,
do you think there will be a better deal than XT333X1 +2 freestyle tools/batteries at home depot? Or is this best we can expect this season.
Stuart
In regard to the Makita 18V LXT lineup? No, I think that the XT333X1 XT446T are the two best deals that’ll feature a Makita brushless drill, brushless impact driver, and brushless circular saw.
I think we’re bound to see some 18V X2 tool kit deals.
I could be wrong, but there’s no historical deals or references to suggest that we’ll see anything better than these deals. In other words, there’s not enough precedent to make predictions, or educated guesses by.
If we see another cordless combo kit on sale, I’d guess it would feature brushed motor tools.

Both featured the XT505, which could very well be on sale again this year. That’s a great deal when it drops to $299. But the XT333X1 + 2 bonus tool or battery options, for $100 more is an even better value.
