Home Depot Cordless Power Tools Deals of the Day Makita Milwaukee Ryobi 102519 Page 1

Over at Home Depot, it’s like they decided to kick off the holiday season deals a couple of weeks early. There are some very good-looking cordless power tool deals of the day, featuring Makita, Milwaukee, and Ryobi brands.

  • Milwaukee M12 sub-compact cordless band saw with bonus 2.0Ah battery: $124
  • Makita 18V 1/2″ impact wrench with 5.0Ah battery: $239
  • Makita 18V compact 1/2″ impact wrench with impact socket set: $189
  • Makita 18V 1/2″ impact wrench with impact socket set: $259

  • Milwaukee M18 Fuel One-Key cordless table saw: $444
  • Milwauee M18 6-tool cordless power tool combo kit with 5.0Ah battery: $409
  • Ryobi 18V 5-tool cordless power tool combo kit: $149

  • Ryobi 18V 4-tool brushless cordless power tool combo kit: $199
  • Milwaukee M12 stapler with free 2.0Ah battery: $84
  • Milwaukee M12 4-tool cordless power tool combo kit with free stapler: $199
  • Milwaukee M12 4-tool cordless power tool combo kit with free 3/8″ impact wrench: $199

These are some compelling M12 cordless tool deals. If you’ve been meaning to pick up the stapler, this might be a good time. This beats the price from earlier this month by $5. If you got in on that deal, you could try to request a price adjustment, or maybe a return-rebuy.

  • Milwaukee M12 4-tool cordless power tool combo kit with free right angle impact driver: $199
  • Milwaukee M12 4-tool cordless power tool combo kit with free soldering iron
  • Milwaukee M18 brushless compact drill and impact driver kit with free 5.0Ah battery: $199
  • Makita 18V 4-tool cordless power tool combo kit with free 5.0Ah battery 2-pack: $349

With the Milwaukee M18 compact brushless bundle, last year they had the same tools and kit for the same price but bundled with a Packout tool box. They might have a holiday bundle like that again this year, but you’ll have to decide if you want a Packout tool box or a 5.0Ah battery as the bonus. OR, they should have the individual tool kits bundled with 1 battery each for $99, if you don’t need or want both tools.

According to the Home Depot link, the M18 grinder does not include ANY wheels, including a grinding wheel. WTF?

Model 2780-20 is shown with a grinding wheel. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a grinder packaged without a starter disc. I’d be incredibly surprised if this didn’t come with the as-shown wheel.

Never seen an M18 grinder come with a wheel, even a Fuel kit in the case with batteries didnt come with any wheels.

I’m trying to remember, but you might be right.

I guess this gives users the ability to save a buck or two and use their preferred brand, or the style/size of accessory they need?

I don’t think it saves anyone any real money because Makita’s comparable grinder is almost always cheaper. That and it (XAG04) comes with 2 guards, a grinding wheel & a cutoff wheel.

And there’s a similar free 5.0 promotion running until the end of the month.

    I want that M12 3/8″ impact wrench (2463-20, 100 ft/lbs). I can’t find it for less than $100 elsewhere. The fuel version (2554-20) puts out 250 ft/lbs, but is $180.

I already have both the dewalt DCF889 (400 ft/lbs) and DCF899 (1200 ft/lbs), but they are often too long (especially the DCF889). It’s also physically straining to hold the DCF899 with a 60v battery at the end of your reach, lying on your back. with your wrist twisted 90 degrees to line it up. Sure, it’s only 10 lbs, but it puts a lot of force on your wrist with the leverage.

    Choices, choices.

Considered the 12V DeWalt impact? It claims 200 ft/lbs, is quite short, and many 20V tools are coming with 12/20 combination chargers lately so you might not even need to set up another charger.

I had bought this DeWalt Xtreme 12V 3/8 impact from Lowe’s for $99 on special. I’m a DeWalt fan boy and have both DFC889 and DCF899 like the OP has and the 12V Xtreme was a big let down to say the least, for my expectations anyways. It wouldn’t break lug nuts that I verified were torqued to 100/lb ft on a full charge. My purpose for buying it was to have a high capacity/compact impact to take with me in my vehicles and on trips to friends houses to help with their cars and junkyard excursions.

I kept it for about a week, trying it out in different situations and I ended up sending it back and ponying up more $ for the Milwaukee 3/8 Fuel stubby impact, that was a very good decision.

I will say that the DeWalt 12V Xtreme was far from junk, but it just failed to meet their claims and left me a bit disappointed in their 12V offerings. That being said, I still love all my other DeWalt stuff and will continue looking their way in future purchases.

Thanks Brett & Adam for ideas and feedback. I am not considering the 12v dewalt line because about 2 years ago I decided to go milwalkee for 12v to add to the dewalt 20v stuff I already have. The soldering iron won me as a customer actually, so it was a few months before that hit the shelves is when I expanded from dewalt 20v to M12.

The primary reason I am not considering other lines are because I have way too much invested in the dewalt 20v and milwalkee M12 lines, and don’t want a 3rd battery line.

What I am hearing tho is that out of the choices, the M12 fuel is worth the extra cost. 100 ft/lbs may as well be a ratchet to me; I’m not a fan of the two M12 ratchets I have because the torque is just too low. Need an actual breakaway torque of 125-150 ft/lbs or so to be truly useful where it will replace a hand ratchet. The road salt here turns all screws and threads into a rusted mess in 1 or 2 seasons, so unscrewing a loosened bolt or nut often takes more than a hundred ft/lbs unless I use a wire brush to remove most of the rust first.

If you are already running DeWalt 20v platform (DCF889/899), I would say go with the DCF890 3/8″ XR. Much more compact than what you currently have, still decent power. There also is the 20v DCF894 mid-range 1/2″ impact, also a bit pricier.

But if you are also running the M12 platform, you can’t go wrong with that stubby Fuel, like you said they are just pricey.

I wish they had a cordless 10″ miter on a deal of the day. Either Milwaukee or Makita.

It’s not a daily deal, but yesterday at HD I noticed the Makita CXT 12V 3 3/8″ circular saw was down to $59 (tool only). Same price online:
    https://www.homedepot.com/p/Makita-12-Volt-MAX-CXT-Lithium-Ion-3-3-8-in-Cordless-Circular-Saw-Tool-Only-SH02Z/206825229

I admit to finding that very tempting, except I don’t have any other CXT tools or any immediate need for it.

Isn’t Home Depot likely a small builder/DIY bellwether of a slight slowing in the retail tool sales industry?
Is it just me or do these sales seem both very good and very frequent these days?

They’re fairly mediocre IMO. They may be trying to make up from depressed sales volume from poor manufacturer promotions. Milwaukee was giving away 6Ah M12 batteries and free tools and stuff last promotion cycle, this time it’s a free 2Ah battery and a more “specialty” tools to qualify for it. Gotta say, if I’d known this set of promos was going to be so downgraded from the previous set, I probably would have made my purchasing choices differently. As is, I’m waiting and hoping that the next set of promos are significantly better for Milwaukee.

Is that hand tool category of special buys something new for the HD site? I didn’t see those sale items at all on the phone app for Home Depot, and I probably wouldn’t have found the selection if it weren’t for the ToolGuyd site (thanks, Stuart).

I think that there were so many deals today that they broke it up into categories. It also looks to me that they might be trying something new.

I got the Ryobi router, glue gun, sander combo. I have nice corded versions of all of them, but this seemed like a very low cost way to try cordless versions of these tools.

I tend to only get Ryobi tools for things I do not use heavily (heavy use is DeWalt), but with my managed expectations, I find myself satisfied. One exception is the left blade brushless saw. It is very noticably weaker than my flexvolt right blade, but I find myself using it for most non-measured/fenced cuts.

I look forward to the Ryobi non-basic tool fire sales and I load up.
