For at least the second year in a row, Makita’s Holiday $25 off $100+ discount promo hit early.

Now, thru the end of the year (12/31/2016), enjoy $25 instant savings on $100+ or more of Makita tools and accessories. Some products are excluded from the deal, but there’s still lots of good stuff eligible for the savings.

For instance, Makita’s latest and greatest impact driver is eligible for the savings, their entry-level kit is not.

See the full list of eligible tools here:

Shop Now(via Amazon)

Or, search for the items on your shopping list and look for a mid-page banner that says whether a product is eligible for the discount. If it’s not, it’ll instead say something about checking out the Makita holiday deals.

Acme Tools is also offering a $25 off $100+ Makita Tool promo.

They’ve got a few other Makita deals going on right now, shown on the same promo page, linked below.

I’ve taken advantage of this promo in the past, but there’s nothing really on my wishlist or gift shopping list this year. Yet? How about you – will you be getting in on the deal this year?

Like you, I purchased most of the Makita items that I wanted during last years sale. All I need now are some batteries, but the ones I need do not seem to be included.

Others like ToolUp, Ohio Power Tool, and ToolsPlus are also doing the $25 off Makita deal – and might have the batteries you want.

Tools Plus is one place that I tried this past week the day they started the promotion. Unfortunately they did not include them. They did however have the lowest price on the pair I was looking at.

I ended up purchasing a grinder kit from CPO on their 30% off clearance sale that stacked with the $25 off Makita deal. Now all I need to find is a good deal on a pair of 6ah batteries.

There’s a good chance I’ll get one of those SJS-II variable speed grinders. I want/need a variable speed angle grinder, and the Makitas seem to have a pretty good reputation.

I can’t remember does this stack with every $100 spent? So if I bought the $225 belt sander I’d get 50?

      No, but that’d be great!

These $ off deals are obviously better (percentage-wise) if you are buying something that is at or just above the threshold price. In a prior post a reader was complaining that Amazon had dropped the price of a desired tool from $109 to $99.99 – and had it remained at $109 it would have cost $84 after the rebate.

          Yeah what I feared.

Yep the bosch 12v tools come to mind now, think the reciprocating saw was 89.99 yesterday.

Yes, but there are typically fillers that make up the difference. So the final price would be as good or better, with some bits or blades you could consider as freebies.

ohh good call. I really need an impact wrench so eyeing Makita’s. Bosch’s 3/8″ 12v looked really good but I have a whole set of craftsman 1/2″ deep impact sockets (like 30 or so).

I need a biscuit joiner and I have been eyeing the Makita LXT version. I think now is a good time to pick that up.

We had corded Lamello’s and Porter Cable plate joiners in the business and I have a Dewalt at home. Once we bought into Festool Domino machines – the biscuit jointers pretty much got put out to pasture. One interesting use we found for them was cutting slots in the ends of decking to accept hidden fasteners. While the manufacturer recommends using a router and a slot cutter for this – we found the biscuit cutter to be faster and safer. We’d buy the boards with factory-made slots along their length. But for ends we’d use 2 passes of the biscuit joiner (top and bottom) to center the slot – especially at miters to mate with the hidden fasteners. For that application – if we didn’t have the corded tools – I think the cordless Makita would be the ticket.

The new 18v Sub-compacts are very enticing. But I wish they had a standalone impact, battery, charger, and hard case like with the other 18v tools. I would jump on a sub-compact impact with a charge and battery for $160ish. I don’t really need a Drill/driver right now, but buying a bare impact and batteries separately costs almost as much as the CX200RB.

FWIW, I just used this deal to finish making the switch from old Dewalt 18v NiCad to Makita. I had picked up two bare tools (circ. saw and string trimmer) with the buy two get a 2 free 4.0 ah batteries back in October.

Now, I bought the brushless combo kit through Amazon, which also has a buy select combo kits, get a free bare tool or battery set. I opted for a pair of 1830B batteries (3.0ah with the new indicator) for free. With the $25 off discount, it was $261 for the kit and 2 extra batteries, which is a heck of a deal in my mind.

When you see these “buy two or three bare tools, get batteries free”, check out the different sites. I picked up three $27 led flashlights and got two free 4.0 batts last year, and a few months ago – picked up two $44 coffee makers and got two free 4.0 fuel gauge batteries…

Different retailers offer the deal with different entry level pricing tools…

Also – FYI, Home Depot offers “buy combo, get a tool free” deals right now. You can buy the combo, get the tool free and the receipt will show the refund amounts prorated for both items. Did that recently, returned the combo and got the bluetooth radio for $99.
