A reader (thanks Robert) tipped us off that this Masterforce Boost 20V brushless 4-tool cordless combo kit is on sale right now at Menards.
This combo kit comes with a heavy duty cordless drill/driver that delivers up to 800 in-lbs of torque, a 6-speed impact driver, one-handed reciprocating saw, and LED worklight with 2 brightness options/
The tools are kitted with 2x 2.5Ah batteries, a 90W BOOST charger, and a soft carrying bag.

Readers have been bringing up Masterforce tools for a long time now, and I recently received test samples for review consideration. (The company making these tools is a ToolGuyd sponsor.)
There’s a lot more to these tools than I had realized.
The drill included in this 4-tool kit, for example, features an “impulse drive function” that “helps to prevent bits from walking on material when drilling on hard surfaces.”
The impact driver has 6 speed settings, including an auto-stop function that helps to prevent damage to fasteners and materials. And, it has a ring-shaped worklight at the front. Those aren’t budget tool features.
Lots of cordless power tool combo kits come with an LED workight. How many come with 2 brightness levels?
Some of Menards’ Masterforce tools – definitely the combo kit discussed here – out-feature the competition. Not only that, they look to outperform them too, at least on paper.

The cordless drill delivers 800 in-lbs max torque, and the impact driver delivers 2000 in-lbs of max torque. As mentioned, the impact also has 6 speed settings.
I compared the Masterforce reciprocating saw specs to those of a pro brand’s similar too.
The Masterforce one-handed reciprocating saw has a 1″ stroke length and – according to the user manual – operates at 3100 SPM. A team-yellow compact brushless one-handed reciprocating saw has a 5/8″ stroke length and operates at up to 2800 SPM. For both stroke length and speed, higher values typically mean faster cutting performance and application speeds.
The combo kit is currently $199.99 through 12/3/2023 and eligible for an added $50 mail in rebate.
Once that rebate check in in your hand, you will have paid just $149.99 for this combo kit. You often have to spend a lot more to get similar from other tool brands.
I have not paid much attention to Masterforce tools over the years, simply because they were out of sight and thus out of mind, as I’m not close to any Menards store locations.
We’ll be talking more about Masterforce cordless power tools in the next two weeks. I’m liking the tools they sent over, and a new mixing drill also just arrived this week.
As for this deal, $150 after rebate seems like a great price for what you get – a brushless drill with 800 in-lbs max torque, 6-speed brushless impact driver with LED ring light and 2000 in-lbs max torque, one-handed brushless reciprocating saw, 2-mode LED worklight, 2x 2.5Ah batteries, charger, and tool bag.
How much would the same or similar tools cost from other cordless power tool brands right now? A lot more than what Menards is selling this kit for.
Price: $199.99 before $50 rebate or shipping
Shipping to my zip code is under $15, which seems fair.

The frustrating thing about their rebates (having bought a shed there and got a hefty one) is it’s just store credit.
So their ads will say $199 – $50 = $149 final price which isn’t really the case because the $50 must be then spent at Menards

Thanks for pointing that out to first-time shoppers! That caught me by surprise the first time I filed a Menards rebate and realized I wasn’t getting actual money back.
I had bought $600 worth of insulation, but it would have been $800 at Lowe’s or Home Depot to start with, so I wasn’t really mad about the free additional $60 in store credit.

They routinely have the best prices around so, for me the in-store rebate is fine. I’m going there anyway.
Once or twice a year they have a “bag sale”. Anything that can fit in the bag (even if it sticks out the top) is 15% off. No rebate.
It doesn’t hurt that you can find Knipex, Pfred, Halder, Channellock, Wilde and other USA and European made tools in store. They also have a huge selection of SPAX fasteners available too.
I do find it odd that they have food in the store. I’ve never thought about getting a frozen pizza when I’m picking up supplies but, it’s there.
David
I usually make at least one trip a week. I do buy food. Good prices on the food too.

I was going to buy some bits from Montana Brand Tools with their Buy One, get one 50% off deal, but wasn’t working out in the cart.
Looked at Menards pricing, and figuring the 15% off in January (only one bag sale this year for 2 weeks), was better. Plus I really didn’t need them today.

Yes, that’s irritating, especially since we don’t have any Menard’s stores where I live. Some years ago they had a great deal on a Craftsman middle chest…good sale price plus the extra rebate and really cheap shipping (very surprising). So I ordered it…it’s been great and arrived undamaged. But the rebate amount was only store credit AND it cannot be used for online purchases…in-store in-person only.
They also have a rather weird pick-up in person from online ordering situation, and they charge a pull-fee for those pick-up orders as well. Seems pretty archaic. I had a friend drop in and pick up items for me…had to designate them specifically as an “agent” online (maybe a nice feature) but then they grilled her at the store, asking for ID and credit card info as well as a paper copy of the invoice. Called me, I said don’t worry about it, I’ll cancel the order, and then they relented.
They have some great store-branded Masterforce items and a lot of typical import lower quality stuff rebadged. If they were local I’d probably shop there more frequently but doubt I’ll ever do their online ordering again.
Their Masterforce tool bags are actually pretty nice quality (import bags are really hit and miss in terms of fabric quality, stitching, etc…these are good).

The fact that Menard’s doesn’t allow reviews on their website is a non-starter for buying Masterforce tools.
Steve
That’s a great deal…

I have had terrible luck with my purchases from Menards (Windows, flooring, etc.) so I’ll never get into any ecosystem provided by then, but I don’t expect anyone to care about my anecdote.
I just wanted to pipe in and mention that their stacking toolboxes are compatible with the Bauer (harbor freight) and Craftsman systems. They’ve never released anything except the starter kit though as far as I know.

I’m a Menards devotee. The fact that the 11% rebate applies to commodity items like lumber and romex is a big win for me. They’ve steadily carried Knipex and Channellock products, and I just noticed Ideal moving in in the electrical section. With their very solid selection of bits and blades as well I have no trouble spending the rebates. Especially for items like router bits they have a far better selection than the other big boxes.
I will agree their power tool selection is lacking. I wish they had a big red or yellow name on the shelf, but Bosch is as good as it gets.
Rog
We don’t have Menard’s in our area of the US; what power tool brands do they carry?
Patrick T
Bosch, Skil and Metabo HPT are the big ones along with their store brand, Masterforce. They also have Black and Decker, Worx and Rockwell. A few Dremel tools. Those are the ones that come to mind.

I have read that some major brands will not sell to Menards due to their rebate practices so perhaps there is some truth to that as why only a handful of national brands are sold there. Just speculative.
I shop at Menards regularly since it is within walking distance of my house. This is a major convenience if I need to stop mid-project to buy something so I can continue further on. It is weird to say that their prices on grocery items is pretty good so that is usually where I spend my rebate checks which allows me to spend that funding on other needs.
This is where most of my love for them ends as far as products; service has been good though. I just feel like some of their offerings are cheap, and as another commenter noted, there are no reviews allowed which makes me not want to purchase big-ticket items from them. But you can’t have it all in one store so I shop at several.
MT
I won’t buy power tools from Menards because they basically only carry Bosch, some Delta, and their house brand Masterforce and cheap Performax and one other one. Tool something. And like another commenter said, they don’t have any reviews on their website, and they’re apparently too regional to find reviews of their tools from other sources online. So nope.
Plus, I find Masterforce green to just be really ugly. But I’m fine with Ryobi, so who am I to judge?
Menards is my go-to for fasteners and other hardware, because they have a much wider variety than HD or Lowe’s, and better prices. And I can get SPAX and GRK.

Are their batteries compatible with any other battery tool system?
Stuart
Not that I know of.
Big Richard
Their 80v OPE tools/batteries are compatible with Greenworks 80v, not sure about the 20v.
Jason
I love Menards and have received thousands of dollars in rebate credits over the years. It really adds up. I don’t care that it’s not actual cash because I’m in there shopping so much, anyway. My cordless tools are mostly Bosch, but I’ve been quite happy with all of my Masterforce hand and power tool purchases.
Matthew
Are master force hand tools any good?
Jason
Some are, yes. Depends on the tool.
