Acme also seems to have a Promo Code “LARSONFARMS” for $10 off on $79 that doesn’t stack with other codes – but works with some deals

ToolsPlus – is doing a $20 off on $100 or more Makita – applied when you add an item to your cart

ToolNut and FastoolNow – having a sale on Jet machinery

Infinity Cutting Tools – 15% on orders over $100 – using code MEMDAY22

ToolUp – 10% off many items using code MD10

HNS Tools – 5% off using code MEMORIAL

    FireHoseDirect – 5% off using code MEMORIAL22FHD

The $49 BOSCH ROS10 5″ sander mentioned is their single speed. Their variable speed version, ROS20VSC, is also on sale for $59, about 25% off.

I’ve had a number of Bosch sanders and always been happy. Their pleated paper dust filters used to be superior to the typical cloth bags, but maybe the others have caught up by now.

That Proto toolbox is at a decent price on Amazon – considering free shipping. But its $5 cheaper at Zoro.

Zoro is frequently the sleeper option. Modest minimum order for free shipping. But they do expect some kind of business sounding “account”.

Zoro doesn’t care if you’re a business or individual. It’s Grainger that is more B2B oriented.

I’d order something like this from Amazon over Zoro due to the easier return policy. I have had terrible luck ordering metal tool boxes of different sizes via Zoro.

We had a Grainger account for our fabrication business. My experience is now years out of date – but back then they used to change your price and/or provide after-purchase rebates based on the volume of your business. It got complicated knowing up-front what you were paying. But they were very quick with getting product into your hands – something that was nice in the days before Amazon. With Zoro – my toolroom guy would keep a shopping list of Proto and Williams items for future purchase – and we’d wait on a Zoro coupon offer. We also had some foibles with Zoro shipping (or perhaps drop shipping) and sometimes fixing issues was not as smooth as we’d like. But we also bought a Miller diesel welder from them at an astoundingly low price (our local distributor could not come close) after a 25 or 30% off deal. Alas those sorts of coupons are a thing of the past – with 10% and 15% now being more common.

I have not dealt with Grainger in several years but I did so both when I managed a lab and later in my machining business. The lab, being associated with a major university account, got fantastic discounts which made Grainger an attractive place to shop. However like Fred mentioned it was difficult to determine exactly what the price was in advance, and that made it a huge PITA to use Grainger whenever a project required up-front budgeting. My machining business did not do any sort of significant purchase volume from Grainger. In fact all I can think of was one squirrel cage blower and a pair of water pumps. I generally avoided them as their prices tended to be terrible without a high volume discount.

I’ve ordered many thousands of dollars of tools from Zoro with no issue whatsoever. They ship quickly and there’s always a 20% off coupon available (haven’t seen a 25% coupon in years). The only issue with Zoro is that their product master data and cataloging is wonky-sometimes it takes me awhile to find what I’m looking for.

Zoro is fantastic. The problem is with metal storage products, and how most are not packaged for shipping via UPS or FedEx.

I’ve had roller cabinets arrive with warehouse or depot handling damage, and smaller storage products have arrived bent and warped.

With Zoro, I can get on the phone or send an email and returns aren’t too big of a hassle, but they take time. With Amazon, if there’s only a few dollars difference, their automated return system is much easier.

I have probably ordered thousands of dollars of tools from Zoro as well. I’ve had some issues, but way above average number of issues with steel storage products (benchtop cabinets, roller cabinets, etc). Amazon has its own issues, but they’re often easier and quicker to resolve.

As for coupons, Zoro has been much stingier in recent years. I have to wait a lot longer for 20% offers, with 10% and 15% with limitations being more frequent.

You guys do know that Zoro is owned by Grainger, right? No more Zoro fox, no more funny employee descriptions, just Grainger by a different name. I dont mean that in a bad way, but I do miss the Zoro sense of humor.
