Reading through the user reviews, a common theme shines through – most users seem to be blow away with the performance of this saw. Here are some of the user review titles from Lowe’s and Metabo HPT websites:

I’d like to see a review on the reciprocating saw! I’d really like to see a rear-handle or more modern blade left saw from Metabo HPT. They have a corded rear-handle saw already, and an older cordless 6 1/2” saw, if I recall correctly. I think they could do a very interesting rear-handle saw that could take advantage of their battery to corded adapter. It’d be a compelling addition that would make them more recommendable for me to other carpenters, and compelling as a second platform, with all their other innovations. Thanks for the deal!

I’d just like to say this is the best overall cordless saw I’ve used. We have Makita’s X2 sidewinder, and both Milwaukee’s rear handle and 7 1/4 sidewinder available to our crew in addition to this HPT, and this is the one almost everyone wants to use. The M18 rear handle is maybe slightly more powerful, but unless you are gang cutting something in place no one wants to be carrying that monster around all day. The power and runtime relative to it’s weight and size are simply unrivaled by anyone else in the industry right now. Most importantly the pick-up on the guard is the best I’ve felt in years, buttery smooth and never catches. If you have every used a Skillsaw from the 70’s or 80’s, or an old swiss made Bosch you’ll know what I’m talking about about.

I try not to buy tools until I have a clear use for them. I’m building a hipcamp campsite for a neighbor, a large wood tent platform, and have been going back and forth about how I should proceed with cutting the lumber for the off grid site (buy, borrow, or rent a generator, buy a cordless circular saw, or cut the lumber off site and bring it to the camp). I kind of wanted to go with a cordless circular saw and had my eye on the Milwaukee fuel based on the ProTool review, but this saw was rated best overall and the deal made it too good to pass up. Excited to pick it up in a few days! Thanks for another great deal find Stuart!

IMO This seems like a no brainer of a deal for anyone on the Metabo platform, just starting out, or anyone not beholden to single battery platforms for their tool Arsenal. everyday I’m more and more intrigued and impressed with Metabo HPT

Question: I recently bought the skilsaw 15 amp corded reciprocating saw. Seems like a top of the line corded recip. Should I return it and get the battery and metabo recip instead? I like the ability to use it cordless or corded, but I’m not sure how the power compares to my skilsaw recip. Any thoughts or advice from folks here would be very helpful!

I don’t have a good answer for you, but I think it might help to ask a question.

Do you want or need a cordless saw?

The only reason to go with the Skilsaw over the Metabo HPT is if you won’t take advantage of the included battery and charger from this bundle.

If you’ll use it with AC cord a great majority of the time, I’d say save the money and be happy with your Skilsaw.

Based on specs, both saws’ power and speed should be pretty similar. If either saw has an edge over the other, it’s likely the Metabo HPT.

Great perspective Stuart! Thank you! I haven’t needed a cordless version yet but I can definitely see where it will be useful/more convenient to not have a cord. I already purchased the cordless circular saw bundle yesterday so having the extra battery for that alone would be nice. Turns out I paid $169 for the 15 amp Skil reciprocating saw so it’s only a little bump to get the cordless Metabo – just ordered it! Has a few extra features that will be nice like the rafter hook. Will plan to return the Skil. Now I’ll have both the cordless circular and recip saws with two batteries, thanks to you!

      Glad to hear it!

If you have already opened the Skilsaw, and you’d have to return it anyway, you could potentially try them both to get a feel for the vibrations.

Ah – if you mentioned that you also bought the circular saw, that definitely changes things a little.

Sorry, I also assumed you meant the 13A Skilsaw. I don’t know if that changes things much, 13A vs 15A, for me it would depend on the stroke length and speed.

Good luck with the new saws – I hope they serve you well!

Lowe’s is offering a great deal. However, when I click on “Buy Now” there is no choice, it only puts the free reciprocating saw in the cart. Anyone know a workaround??

Sorry, it could be that they sold out in your region and are waiting for more inventory.

I tried to do this, and I still see both free bonus options.
