The other day a buddy asked me to recommend a reasonably priced cordless drill kit. My personal choice would be to wait for a new Bosch combo to go on sale, but he wanted a kit for ~$200 right now. I ended up recommending Milwaukee’s M18 kit. This combo includes a fairly powerful drill and impact driver and two compact batteries to save on weight and cost.
Update: Check out our updated Best Cordless Drills roundup post for the latest drill/driver recommendations!
For about $200-230, this kit offers incredible bang for the buck. The drill and driver aren’t top of the line, but they are designed with an efficient blend of power, weight and performance.

When I read the headline I was thinking that it was one tool with both features.

I slipped an ampersand and a “kit” into the title to help clarify, thanks for bringing the confusion to my attention!
Bosch actually does make a 3-mode impact drill, but as far as I know it is the only one of its kind and there aren’t any such all-in-one drill/driver tools out there with standard drill chucks. A 2-tool kit such as this one is far more economical.

Eric, can’t say I’ve ever seen that before, thanks for the heads-up!

We bought this kit over a year ago and have used it quite a bit while renovating the house. Works great!
Looks like there is another Eric R on here hah!

We have two of the M18 drills here at our shop at work, we’ve had a bunch of battery life issues, gear issues, etc. I think we are on our third set of replacements.
