Wandering about Home Depot on Saturday, I noticed that the price of Milwaukee 30″ 12-drawer storage chest and cabinet combo (48-22-8530) had dropped in price from $498 to $448.
The price reduction should be nationwide, and the new lower price is also shown on Home Depot’s website in case you want to order it online.

We have had great experiences with this tool storage combo so far.
My Home Depot has lousy data reception, so once I got home I checked the website to see if any of the other Milwaukee storage products had been discounted. So far this is the only Milwaukee tool storage unit that’s been reduced in price.
To review, here are some of the more important specs for the combo:

For the quality and sturdy construction, both Stuart and I thought that this Milwaukee 30″ tool chest and rolling cabinet combo was a great buy at $498. Drop the price 10% to $448, and now you can get one without breaking $500 after sales tax in the US.

Review Updates
It’s been over a month since I posted my review of this Milwaukee 30″ storage combo, and my thoughts haven’t really changed. I’m still moving tools into it and trying to organize the drawers.
In the review I said that the bottom drawer was a conundrum, but I have since found a few tools to store in the lower drawer, such as my Ryobi inflator. I have thought about moving a corded circular saw in there too. I break down my sheet goods in the garage before I bring them down into my shop, and having a circular saw in the garage would save time. That large drawer seems like a good place to put it.
I’ve found that even with a few squares of double sided tape in the corners of the mats, they still move around inside the drawers a little bit. I’m thinking that maybe I need to use more tape — maybe two or three whole lines

I’m trying to understand the advertised 30″ width but posted here is 34.7″ with drawers 25.7″. I’m guessing the ~35″ is boxed/packaged?

The official specs include the handle on the side and the width of the bumpers, because if you had a gap of 31″ inches to slot the cabinet into, it wouldn’t fit with the handle in place.
The cabinet itself is 30″ wide.

Seems like a good deal on a nice little box. Wish it was another 50 off.

Home Depot matches competitors coupons, you can either try to get them to honor a Harbor Freight 20% off coupon, or if that doesn’t work, a 10% off Lowe’s coupon usually will.

Not anymore since at least April they stopped taking other store coupons not even Lowe’s.

I got HD.com to match an online competitors 10% off promo.

A good idea to test it with the particular material Milwaukee uses for the liners, but spray adhesive can work great for holding large flat materials in place.

Anybody ever use carpet tape on drawer liners?
Benjamen
I’ve used double sided foam mounting tape, on the corners of the liners, but carpet tape would probably work better and stay flatter. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that, I use it for everything else.

Two weeks ago I was able to finagle an additional 10% disc online but was unsuccessful today when I decided I wanted another. Best thing is it ships free! NEMF is delivering my first one tomorrow.

Online price is still $498 as of 8.22.16. Maybe it’s regional? In store today was full price as well.

Hmmm…strange. I set my store to Denver, Minneapolis, New Jersey, and California and looked up the 30″ storage combo. They all said $448 for me. I don’t know what to tell you…
As for the in store price, I’ve noticed that stores sometimes aren’t very fast at updating prices. I know that doesn’t help in your case.
Here we go, I tested Georgia and voila $498. Florida $498. Texas $498. Ohio $448. Oklahoma $498.
Weird. I wonder if Stuart has seen this kind of regional variation at Home Depot before.

I’m in Atlanta. So that explains it. Strange to see it in so many other areas but not here. Hopefully it will.
Toolfreak
Yeah, it’s showing $498 as the “new lower price” in a lot of places.
Seems it takes a good while for price drops to spread to all stores when it comes to HD deals.

I purchased the Costco Kirkland 42″ box on sale for $499, regularly $599. I just think the Milwaukee box is too small for the money.
Toolfreak
Not everyone wants a larger box. Plus, smaller boxes with better construction often cost more than the larger boxes that are built cheaply. Not to mention, not everyone has a Costco near where they live. Would be a good idea to have a site review done on the Costco setup if it’s a good box for the money though.

My cabinet was delivered today, well the top half was, bottom was forgotten at Milwaukees wharehouse…… gonna be about 2 weeks before I get it, at least they are giving me a GC as comp….
Bill K
Yep….. good buy. I noticed the good price and picked up one on Sarurday. This will be a nice upgrade over my old Craftsman chest…. lots of nice features.

Having trouble with locking mechanism only moving half way and top drawers sticking .anyone know what the round tabs on the bottom back of the drawers are for ?
Stuart
Not remembering what it looks like, small parts on the backs of drawers slides are generally for engaging soft-close mechanisms.
