Redditor Scouterktaylor recently came across a new Milwaukee mobile workbench configuration at their local Home Depot store.
The new Milwaukee 52″ and 12-drawer mobile workbench looks to draw features, construction, and styling from some of their the brand’s other metal tool storage solutions.
In other words, while new, this 52″ mobile workbench is highly recognizable and without any surprises – not that this is a bad thing.

This will be part of Milwaukee’s High Capacity Industrial line, which already includes a 40′ mobile workbench, 46″ combo with roller cabinet and top chest, 56″ combo with roller cabinet and top chest, and 52″ mobile workbench with open top drawers.
The features sticker describes the tool cabinet as being the most durable and best equipped.

The 41.3″ height is noteworthy, making this one of Milwaukee’s tallest mobile workbenches yet. The drawer configuration is also different from their existing 52″ solution, which has open top drawers similar to an earlier non-premium line model.
The side view shows Milwaukee’s heavy duty handle, built-in power strip, and mounting points for M12/M18 chargers. It also looks to include mounting points for a side tray, but it’s unclear if such an accessory is included (it usually is).
It seems that Milwaukee went with rear-placement for the power cord pass-through grommet, rather than putting it on the same side as the power strip.

I wonder – is this an early rollout for Spring 2022, or were they intended for the holiday shopping season but held up due to transport delays?
Either way, I would assume that the mobile workbench will start appearing at other Home Depot store locations shortly.
The great part about Milwaukee ball bearing tool storage products is that they’re well-made and nicely-featured. The downside is that their availability can be unpredictable, depending on the model or configuration, and time of year.
Based on the number of questions and requests I have received over the years, my general advice is to not hesitate if you see a Milwaukee tool box or mobile workbench setup that you like and can budget for.
“I wanted to wait for a lower price and now cannot find the tool box in stock anywhere” has happened to a couple of readers. My advice? Save your receipt – Home Depot has an excellent history when it comes to price adjustments.
I have not yet seen this mobile workbench configuration at my stores, and it does not appear to be available online yet.
While there aren’t any new features – at least not obvious ones – or surprises – it’s good to see Milwaukee come out with another solid-looking metal storage product.

The wide drawers on the top are a win for me. I wish the tall bottom drawers had double drawer slides to increase the capacity. I wonder if it is possible to order additional drawer slides, perhaps as spare parts? I know that extra slides are available for the tool truck brands like Snap-On and Mac, or industrial brands like Lista or Stanley Vidmar, and users of those lines commonly double or triple up slides on heavily loaded drawers. It might be no big deal to order a few of those and just bolt them on, the holes for them may well be pre-punched.

The bottom deep drawers do have double pairs of slides.

The only problem I have with hinged tops is that you have to remove everything you re working on from the top of the box, before you can open it. Now, this one has a split top, but if the tool is on the other side, you’ve still got to move or slide you junk to the opposite side. This is why I prefer either more drawers or, if the top is going to open, I like the ones that are split in the middle and slide open.

What I like about the hinged top is tool access. Some of the photos show the cart with tops up, and large drawer open. That’s a massive tool access.

As I mentioned, it gives you complete access to the tools under the flip top. Plus leaving one wide drawer open at the same time. Everyone has different needs & cost levels. Some need the worktop, others setup a Dewalt portable table next to cart. Some people can work out of a 5 gallon bucket, and wonder why people need carts

I would love to see them make a 30in deep box. Or even 25in. Until then I’m not interested. Not enough space for me.

I love that extra depth myself. It gives a lot more storage space inside the box while not affecting its external dimensions enough to be problematic. I can still put the box in the same place where I’d fit a shallower box but it holds that much more. And it’s also very nice to be able to orient longer tools “front to back” rather than being forced to orient them “side to side” in the drawers. The deeper drawers have more organizational options for your tools.

I got mine two weeks ago for $530. The best toolbox I have ever purchased. Thick steel construction, all casters move in all directions, and tall!
It holds a ton of tools and does not take that much space!
In my opinion, HF aims at the big name in the business.

I saw one of these at the Home Depot near me (in Southern Minnesota) a week ago. I’m not in the market for a tool box at the moment so I didn’t really give any attention, I didn’t realize it was a newsworthy find.

This is so new, it’s not even listed on the Milwaukee website, or even Home Depot website. Customer service at both places doesn’t even know anything about it, and I’ve sent an email to my Milwaukee tool rep tongue if he has any info on it. That’s strange, because Milwaukee typically has all of their tools and toolboxes listed even before they ship them out.

I like the full length top drawers. Deeper one for sockets. Shallower one for wrenches.
I just checked this against the raining king: Harbor Freight which is actually 56 x 22-1/2 x 42-1/4 for $850.
If the Milwaukee has equal build quality as Harbor freight it will be some pretty good competition. The Milwaukee I have seen at Home Depot in the past have been kind of flimsy so have the husky Waterloo and craftsman compared to the harbor freight. Harbor freight has had and probably will have the 56” in stock for a long time whereas the Home Depot offerings are constantly changing. Also Harbor freight has a top box, side locker, and side cabinet for their 56” box. Oh and comes in lots of colors besides red as well.
Not the best value out there it looks like BUT the competition is starting to heat up. At the very least the Milwaukee fanboys should be able to get a decent box now lol

Used to love Milwaukee tools. Pretty cool to use the tools that my dad and his dad owned. I know it’s a lost cause to discuss the American-made tool; however, Milwaukee is not only made in China, but it is a Chinese-owned company!
And Home Depot is laughing all the way to the bank.

Milwaukee Tool is headquartered in the USA and has been continually expanding their USA footprint.
Yes, they’re owned by a publicly traded company that’s HQed in Hong Kong, but they create a ton of US jobs and keep pouring money into the US economy.
Milwaukee Tool also produces some tools in the USA – corded Sawzall reciprocating saws – and a lot of power tool accessories, such as reciprocating saw blades, hole saws, and step drill bits.

Saw these yesterday. I seriously considered applying for a credit card to purchase it for work. I’m an industrial maintenance technician.
Easy on/off locks on back casters. Rolls very well, I’m guessing the casters are beefed up. Drawers are smooth- normal wobble with empty drawers that I’ve never not seen. (Can anyone confirm whether the tool truck ones do?) Bump protection looks nice, but I have the US General full service cart and find the bump protection helpful, but if you are really rolling around a place you’re still going to scratch your back up.
I could yak on about it, but I’m now considering it as a next mobile toolbox. Sometimes I really wish I had a nice work surface, instead of a flip top. I have a 56in US General as well at work, but it is my “wall cab” I guess you’d call it.
