New Milwaukee Bucket-Sized Tool Box

Milwaukee Tool Box 48-22-8010

Milwaukee’s 26″ tool box seems to be a big hit, and we’re liking it as well. It’s uniquely featured and well built. But not everyone needs a full-size box like that. That’s why Milwaukee has come out with a new 13″ tool box, model 48-22-8010.

My first thought was that this looks great for bucket users, and it seems that’s exactly what Milwaukee was going for when designing the new work box.

The new Milwaukee 13″ tool box features a removable lid with integrated drip ledge, which helps to protect tools and contents from water, debris, and other contamination. Inside is a pull-out vertical tool organizer and an inner tray.

The tool box has reinforced corners for greater impact resistance. According to Milwaukee, the new tool box can survive over 1,000 drops, even when loaded with 25 pounds of stuff.

A V-groove in the lid is convenient for cutting small diameter materials. You can also clean off the top and use the tool box as a seat. With a 16″ height, the tool box is high enough for comfort, yet close enough to the ground to allow you to work on lower fixtures and devices that you would probably have to kneel down to reach otherwise.

Price: $30

As with the 26″ hand box, the new 13″ bucket-shaped tool box is also made in the USA.

If the Canuck price is reasonable , I’ll grab one for sure . I hate kneeling or laying on my side .

Looks right up my alley. Good size, made in he USA. But now I have to wait until August. I hate waiting. And how did the miss the opportunity to make some sort of latching system so you can stack them like L-Boxxes?

I’m thinking that they did research with users and found that tradesmen were more likely to purchase just one or two toolboxes rather than complete modular setups.

Perhaps, but then again if you are a tradesman couldn’t you just buy the one you need and not use the latches to attach it to other ones? Doesn’t Milwaukee care about us brand loyal weirdos that have a hard time putting our Milwaukee tools in Bosch or Dewalt boxes?

It’s kind of awesome to stumble across this discussion in 2022 (about 8 years later) knowing now what we know about expansiveness of the Milwaukee Packout System, which they launched back in September 2017, (3 years after your thread.)

Looks like it to me. If/when a sample’s in for testing I’ll take measurements.

looks like a nice alternative to the 5 gallon paint can/spinning seat that I’ve used for a similar purpose

It seems like Milwaukee’s R&D department is turning out the most unique ideas in terms of storage. While I don’t personally see an immediate need for this, I like that they are actually thinking about how to organize the interior of the box with something other than the industry standard small lift out tray near the top of the interior. I’m thinking something that I need to make something along the lines of that vertical handtool organizer for some of my DeWalt T-Staks.

Looks like the lid locks with the handle. I would not think that to be the most secure way to keep this thing closed. I liked the new tool box they put out but after watching tools in action review I’ll stick with my Dewalt Tough Boxes.

“Milwaukee, the new tool box can survive over 1,000 drops, even when loaded with 25 pounds of stuff.” This claim is a bit far fetched if its made anything like the bigger box. You can see the dammage just 16lbs does to that here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7mcF0xI8Nk

I haven’t seen the latches on my test sample pop open unexpectedly, but it’s something I’m keeping an eye out for.

16 pounds inside a tool box that’s thrown from 6 feet off the ground will do more damage than 25 pounds inside a tool box that’s dropped from the hip.

I LOVE my Dewalt Tough Boxes (more on those at Tough System Review Tough Cases vs. L-Boxxes and Best Modular Tool Storage System), but the Milwaukee 26″ work box has features that make it very appealing as well.

I find Milwaukee is coming out with a lot of “gimmicky” items lately, these 2 toolboxes might be alright for 15 bucks on sale but that’s it

At least this using your words “gimmicky” item is American made though. Given who owns Milwaukee, any products that are American made are a nice change from the imported items that are very common place these days. These days seemingly more and more products are imported and even less are made in America though.

Likely this is made by Plano, Arko Mills, Stack-On or Flambeau though. Obviously I have no means of verifying that information though.

1″ too tall to fit in my Weatherguard saddle box. I’ll stick to the square kitty litter buckets for now.

Maybe the idiots will figure out how to put a clamping system on their mitersaw. Nah. They’ll probably come out with a line of M12 heated Bangladesh made work boots instead. Another ‘merkin company dying. Off to the Metabo site.

Cool, they should make a insulated lunch bucket with a similar design. I’d buy that.

Picked one up a few days ago to keep my M12 tools, batteries, accessories together and easily accessible. Still haven’t figured out how to mount the charger to the lid, but otherwise … I love it. One added bonus feature, of sorts — I’m pretty sure this thing is waterproof.

Most of my tools have to be stored outside, in containers. I just happened to forget to put this one under the tarp and we got slammed with quite the storm. Inside was dry as dry can be. That alone was worth the $30 for me.

Unfortunately, they are not available in Europe. I am interested in buying one (as long as they are not asking for double the price of the US over here).
