The street price for the 4-tool kit, 2498-24, looks to be $249. So with this bundle, you’re saving $50 on the tool kit, plus getting a bonus oscillating multi-tool that’s said to be a $79 value.
The kit comes with (2) 1.5Ah batteries, a charger, and carrying bag.
Looks like a very good deal to me. What more might a new homeowner, DIYer, or even a seasoned user looking for more compact “core” tools want?

Now I just need to find a 220v charger for these batteries. No Milwaukee in my country.
Stuart
Would it be possible to use a 220V UK or other charger with a plug adapter?
Henrik Vilselius
Yes, no problemo – just change to EU plug
Hilton
Yes I could do that although I didn’t know Milwaukee sold kit in the UK. I’ll check it out.
Edgar M.
just buy a step down transformer (220/110V)… they aren’t really expensive, at least in my country , especially since you don’t need a lot of watts just to charge batteries
Ilya
There is video guide how to switch 110V to 220V. Explanation is in Russian, but don’t listen, watch!

That quarter inch ratchet is super tempting. I already have the first gen 3/8 ratchet, not sure i need a first gen 1/4 ratchet. I think i’d rather have the gen 2 1/2 ratchet.
But that kit is a super good deal. The 3/8″ ratchet cost my $99 alone. When you include the packout case, battery and charger…. WHEW! Steal of a deal.
Jonathan
Have to agree, been using the 3/8 with a low profile 3/8 -> 1/4 adapter it was free bare tool with the 1st gen M12 Fuel drill/impact combo. The Fuel version of the impacts are to oversized esp for the minor torque increase to 45-55 ft#
Very tempting been watching for a deal or discount on the 1/4 may wait till it’s a bare tool offering with the Gen 2 M12 Fuel drill/impact combo and then sell my Gen.1.

“Looks like a very good deal to me. What more might a new homeowner, DIYer, or even a seasoned user looking for more compact “core” tools want?”
Beyond the obvious answer of “the Fuel version of the same tools”, a more specific answer is: an update to the multitool. I’ve found my m12 oscillating multitool very useful but the lack of any anti-vibration mechanism is increasingly problematic for me. I know you can do it Milwaukee! You can make it a brushless Fuel version (because the current model can gobble up batteries like crazy) or just an updated entry-level model, but the vibration needs some taming.
Anyway i like to see good deals on Milwaukee tools i already have because it means i’m more likely to see deals on ones i don’t have!
Bill
Nathan, I sympathize with your desire for tools with low user vibration. I’ll add to that with my desire for tools with lower noise levels as well. I’ve posted about both issues several times on this site. My first OMT was the Dewalt 20v version and while it is an overall excellent tools, it imparts a high level of vibration to the user. I tried using gloves but it didn’t help much. After about a year of using the Dewalt I purchased the FEIN AFMT12QSL, with it’s excellent anti-vibration technology. In short, this is one sweet little tool that I really love using. Yes there is the issue of yet another battery platform but to me it was well worth it. I was also concerned about this tool being a 12 volt, but for my needs and use I find nothing missing in the power
department or run time. If you find that you need more you can also get the same anti-vibration in their 18 volt version, FEIN AFMM18QSL.
As for Milwaukee I’m waiting for them to include same anti-vibration technology in their 18v Sawzall that they have on their corded version.

Actually a big deal for me. I have neuropathy in one hand from years of work, and buzzy tools are just plain unpleasant to use now.
Joe
I think it would be helpful to the type of people that would be buying those older tools to Know what generation or year they came out…..for serious tool enthusiast we know what those deals are about…….and don’t buy in
fred
Sure – but deals in the run-up to Father’s day are not targeted at commercial users.
For the new homeowner dad – these sorts of kits provide a lot of bang for the buck – particularly if you have nothing. We got some of the Gen1 M12 OMT’s in a bundled deal and thought they were a joke compared to the Fein Multi-Masters and Super Cuts we used. But a homeowner who wants to just trim the bottoms of some casing to fit some flooring may find it totally acceptable. The Gen1 M12 hackzall has also been much maligned – but I had plumbing crews who used them for several years – and really liked them for cutting out plastic lines under sinks and other tight spots where a sawzall wouldn’t fit. Sure they got replaced when better came along – but they still worked.
Maybe these kits are someone’s introduction to cordless tools – and once put into use will provide insights about what to buy next if and when they fall short. The downside, of course is that some recipients would be much better served with fewer but more capable tools specific the their needs.

That 5 tool combo kit is about what I paid for the hackzall, drill, impact, and 3 batteries. I could have gotten the flashlight and multi-tool by trading a battery and the extra charger. Poop. I have too many batteries now, I think I have 6.
I really want that M12 1/4″ ratchet but I have the 3/8″ fuel ratchet, and I ended up working almost all of last weekend on my truck. Surprisingly, even though I had it out, I never once was able to use the ratchet even though this job was what I got it for. I ended up using my 1/2″ dewalt impact to take off almost every bolt since every bolt was seized. Had to cut 3 of the bolt heads off with my dewalt grinder. The dewalt was too big to use decently; I was only about 1/4″ away with the cutoff blade from the side of the transmission and it made me extremely nervous. I really really want to try the M12 cutoff tool that I have seen pictures of.
I did use the M12 drill (2407-20) to drill out one of the two 10mm studs I broke (with a 7/16″ bit). It seemed to have about 80% of the power as my dewalt DCD777, but it was lighter so the Milwaukee was easier on my hand. However, something on the grip of the Milwaukee made it feel uncomfortable. If I had to place it, I would say the Milwaukee was putting more force on the joint on my thumb instead of my palm on the dewalt. It was way easier to maneuver the M12 drill while under the truck.

Home Depot had that first bundle before Xmas for the same price, but included a 3rd battery. Good deal either way, if you don’t want Fuel.
1/4″ racthet seems like a limited market. If I was buying 1 racthet for homeowner use, I’d want the 3/8.
I asked someone that had a full PackOut system (I only have the 2 larger units), and his comment was he would rather have 2 of the small organizers, or one full width one, as he is limited on what he can set on top of the stack.

I’ve been trying to post about the various Memorial Day and Fathers Day deals (including this one) that have been appearing in my email inbox.
https://discuss.toolguyd.com/t/fathers-day-sales/1255/8
So far the only deal that I bit on was the Ryobi Days deal for the “free” 3 gal. vac. (or some other tool) when you bought the Two 3Ah battery plus rapid charger and nylon bag package. That deal seems to have sold out pretty quickly at most Home Depots.
Tim E.
Got in on that ryobi deal with a drain snake since I need to try to get my shower drain running decently again, and draino isn’t helping. Great deal, and I really like the compact 3Ah batts for the glue gun and some of the lights. Also got the 6Ah for running the string lights on full brightness for longer, and for the 6 gal shop vac. My Home Depot was sold out of the 3Ah batt sets when I went back the following day, and only had a few of the 6Ah pairs left too. On one hand, good to see ryobi maybe getting more popular, on the other, I’d like to see larger stock levels for these deals…
Adam
Hopefully it was consumers, and not resellers picking them all up.
If you haven’t got their pole saw and use one similar, that is a great addition. Also part of the promo
TonyT
Ryobi’s instagram feed says they’ll try to have some more 3AH packs in before the promo ends on 6/20.
I highly recommend the Ryobi drain auger; I’ve had it for about a year, and it’s more than paid for itself. Our sewer line has constant trouble with tree roots, and the Ryobi has done a great job taking them out, considering it’s not meant for it (it’s 1/4″, meant for drains not sewer lines. But it’s been working for me, at much less expense and storage space, than a 1/2″ electric auger).
fred
I had an interest in a plumbing business – so closet augers, drain line augers, sewer jetters, and video sewer inspection equipment were some of the tools of the trade. Showers – and tubs were often clogged with hair and soap residue accumulated on the hair. Some drains were easier to deal with than others based on their geometry.
House drains – out to a septic system or municipal sewer could be more difficult. Your having luck with a 25 foot light-duty auger is great news. Maybe you have light root infiltration close to the house and can push what gets stuck past it.
We saw all sorts of clogs, big roots, collapsed drain lines etc. Some of the nastiest repeat clogs were at restaurants – with solidified grease and kitchen debris as the offender. For these we’d give up on a mechanical auger and go to a hot water jetter that we’d tow out to the site.
Knock on wood – my principal residence has not had an issue in years since I took down a old swamp maple that was out close to the road – had heaved up my driveway and a section of my house to sewer connection.
TonyT
I’m lucky because we have a sewer access hole in the driveway, conveniently located about 25′ from the house. So that’s what I use.
If it gets too bad, then I’ll look at borrowing (2 co-workers have 1/2″ electric augers, but neither lives close), renting, or buying something better.
fred
Unless you have to do it on a regular basis – borrowing or renting is probably more cost efficient. I you need to buy – then I’d recommend General Wire Spring Company (General Pipe Cleaner Div.) We had many pieces of their equipment – and had good luck with it. We did use Ridgid’s sewer inspection equipment – but had General augers and a trailer mounted jetter.
michaelhammer
Keep in mind it’s only a good deal if it’s useful. Love the m12 line, but 1/4” ratchet seems smallish. I can tell you first hand that the m12 multitool and hakzall are woefully under powered. Those are high on my list of regret buys.
David Zeller
Home Depot has the M12 set with 6Ah battery instead of multiple for $229 until 7/26. Regularly like $338 or something like that.

Does anyone know if the 1/4″ M12 ratchet is any smaller that their 3/8″ M12 ratchet?
Stuart
There are side by side images here: https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/milwaukee-12v-cordless-14-and-38-ratchet-specs-update/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E
I’d say they’re the same size except for the square drive.
Mickey
Thanks, you just saved me $99. I already had the 3/8″ and though maybe I’d buy the 1/4″ if it was noticeably smaller.
