Milwaukee Fast Release Locking Pliers

Milwaukee has expanded their new line of Torque Lock locking pliers and clamps with a couple of new models. The new locking pliers features a lot of the same features as their initial wave pliers, but are also built with handle grips and a fast-action one-handed pressure release mechanism.

When Milwaukee announced their new locking pliers and clamps, I wondered why they did not engineer the tools with European-style release levers. What I did not consider was that the Vise-Grips-style release lever allows for easier implementation of a fast-release feature.

Fast-Release Locking Pliers Sizes and Styles

  • 6″ long nose, 48-22-3406
  • 9″ long nose, 48-22-3409
  • 5″ curved jaw, 48-22-3405
  • 7″ curved jaw, 48-22-3407
  • 10″ curved jaw, 48-22-3410
  • 2pc curved jaw set (7″, 10″), 48-22-3402

Surprisingly, Milwaukee’s comfort-grip fast-release locking pliers hardly cost any more than their regular bare-grip pliers. The 10″ curved jaw pliers are $12.97, and the new fast-release version is $13.97.

Wow! Deception reigns. Did you all notice that this tool clearly and proudly states “U. S. Patent …”.
Whatever would that be doing their? Oh. I see. For the quick but uninformed buyer it might very easily imply “Made in the U.S.”. But no such luck.

Is this marketing thing you guys have seen before? I’ve not.
