Milwaukee M12 Drill and Hackzall Combo Kit

Over at Home Depot, there’s a new Milwaukee M12 promo combo kit. For $99, you get an M12 drill/driver, Hackzall compact reciprocating saw, 2 batteries, and a charger.

The kit comes with the regular Milwaukee M12 2407 drill/driver (a top budget-conscious pick), and 2420 Hackzall saw.

There’s not much that needs to be said about this set – it’s a crazy good value for 2 highly regarded 12V-class power tools. It’s a great entry into Milwaukee’s excellent line of M12 compact cordless power tools.

That’s probably how they’re able to price this so low. Part of the thinking on Milwaukee or Home Depot’s end could be that, at $99, a lot of users might buy this set just for the included tools but ultimately find it to be a gateway that leads deeper into Milwaukee’s M12 lineup.

Online Coupon: $5 Off $50 or more! Enter Promo code HDHOLIDAY. Valid 11/23/2015-12/03/2015, online only.

The promo price is valid thru 2/1/16, but it could possibly (probably) sell out before then. If you order before 12/3, you can save extra $5, making the final price $94 with free shipping or in-store pickup.

Good deal, and I almost bought it yesterday. But then I ended up getting the $149 M12 Fuel Drill + M12 Fuel Impact combo instead.

$149 or $199? I got the M12 Fuel combo that has been on special buy for $199 — this is the one with the hammer drill and impact driver. I don’t really need the hammer drill, but after using the kit in the store the tools felt great and the upper-end M12 Fuel driver had speed and torque specs that were comparable to most other brands’ non-brusheless 18V offerings, so this seemed like a great compromise between the nice small form factor of the M12s, but still getting enough oomph to do plenty of work that most of the “standard” 18V offerings would do.

And as you say, the thing that tipped me to Milwaukee — the lineup. The M12 lineup has so many offerings… it’s basically like the Ryobi lineup except, you know, the Milwaukee tools are well-reviewed from pros on down, whereas the Ryobi lineup is hit and miss, at best. For the quality of the M12 tools, to have a kit to kickoff the set… adding bare tools actually looks totally affordable.

$149 via Adam’s comment on this other Milwaukee post from a few days ago: https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/black-friday-2015-cordless-drill-deals/#comment-758732%3C/a%3E%3Cbr /> (I’m still “deciding” between the m12 and m18 kits, but I’ll return the m18 kit next time I go to HD)

I at first thought that the Hackzall was a bit of a joke – when we got our first one as part of a bundle. Then the plumbing crews thought they were great – especially under the sink and in tight spots – we ended up with 12 of them. Their not quite up to what you’d use a full-sized sawzall for – nor as refined as a jig saw – but they filled a niche for our plumbers. Interestingly – our cabinet installers did not like them as replacements for older corded tools like the Bosch 3294EVS inline jigsaw (sadly no longer made) or the Ridgid R3030 inline reciprocating saw that some of them used.

Just used my Hackzall for hacksaw type things last weekend….needed to cut down the metal stair portion of our new attic stairs. Trying to do it on an angle with the stairs half folded and resting on a work table using a handheld hacksaw was NOT WORKING.

Whipped out the Hackzall and had 2 perfectly angled cuts in a couple minutes. The format of the Hackzall gave me excellent control over the angle before really digging it in and cutting. Beautiful tool.

While I already have the drill from the $89 drill / speaker promo, I might get this and sell the drill alone on the internet….
Anyone know if between the 18 v and 12v if the movement (back and forth) or stroke is the same???

I couldn’t see for certain, but in the product image it looks like the battery says RedLithium 2.0.

I just grabbed one at my local HD. They had the price tag at $149 but $99 in the system. Pretty good deal!

I was going to grab one of these, but price online and in store went up to $149 despite the note that pricing was good through 2/1/16… WTF HD?

Oh well, I’m probably better off with the M18 bare tool hackzall anyway to go with my other M18s… Still annoying.

Maybe there was a clause that lets them modify deals?

Your local HD store might be able to honor the lower pricing. Or if you complain to HomeDepot.com customer service, they might be able to help you out in some way.

$119 now, still higher than the supposed 2/1/2016 deal expiration.
