Over at Home Depot, there’s a limited time promotion: buy an M12 drill and impact driver – which is already on sale! – and get a free bonus 6.0Ah Li-ion battery pack.
What are they thinking?! The drill and impact kit is already an incredible deal at $99. With this promo, you get the tools, a charger, carrying bag, (2) compact battery packs, and a bonus 6.0Ah battery.

The drill and impact driver are brushed motor models that in recent years replaced older designs.

Update: It looks like the deal has sold out, and no wonder. Still, it might be worth checking the page and signing up to be notified if/when the deal returns. Or you might be able to get a local Home Depot store to match the deal (but probable not).

This deal does work at Home Depot I got two!
fred
It looks like International tool may have the same deal
Maybe try here: http://www.internationaltool.com/milwaukee-2494-22-m12-cordless-lithium-ion-2-tool-combo-kit

No tax (outside Florida) and free shipping too – I did not check stock
Adam

My local HD had the same deal yesterday on one of the end cap displays.
I’m betting they’re clearing them out because of the redesigned M12 tools coming down the pipe. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them stop selling the non-Fuel tools altogether, or at least not selling them in store anymore.
Adam
I’m sure over time it will be cheaper to just produce brushless motors. Maybe it already is? If that was the case, it almost seems like they could make the gen1 M12 Fuel the new entry level set. Get rid of the blow molded case, drop you to 2x2ah batteries. I’ve walked out of HomeDepot with a Fuel set for $112 for the holidays (buy another tool for ‘free’ but pro-rated), and you would hope both companies are still making money. so it seems feasible, perhaps
Stuart
I don’t think that’s how things will work.
The brushed models aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, They’ll remain to be compact and reasonably powerful, with the Fuel models being the next step up and potential 18V stand-ins due to their higher power and 1/2″ chuck.
fred
I think that I agree – that there will continue to be a market for both varieties as long as there are price point differences. When buying a 15 or 20 tools at a time for my installers – I would be looking at tools that were compact, cost effective and fit for their purpose. When the M12 lineup started to proliferate – it was the ideal platform for their work – no need for 18V power and size. For this application the old M12 stuff is still perfectly fine.
M12 brushless technology has the appeal for a different audience – perhaps users who do a combination of work where it would stretch the capability. I think it also has an appeal for those who seem to seek out the newest and “best” – with the most power and features on the speculation that they may encounter a job where they need it. If you are well heeled – buying only 1 tool for yourself – then why not go brushless. But if all you need is a 3/8 chuck M12 drill – are buying 10 of them – then you may put the $400 savings to better use in your business

I’ve got several M12 Fuel tools, and have been moving that direction more and more, they handle most of the Jobs 90%+ of the time with sufficient power or torque. I rarely break out the 18V or 20VMax tools, with exception to the Job, SDS, metal shears, angle grinder. I love that I can carry more tools in less space. The caveat is that it is the M12 Fuel tools and not the regular M12, definitely night and day difference in power & performance. The M12Fuel Hackzall cuts T-posts like butter and with a pruning blade is amazing, I had the regular M12 Hackzall, and its 75% better than the DeWalt 12V sawzall, where the M12Fuel is about 85% the performance of my 20V DeWalt only in a smaller lighter one handed tool, I gave to my neighbor across the street, we are constantly re-homing tools and things to each other he works in FM for a local grocery chain.

I picked up a similar deal Tool Barn earlier this week. $109 for the factory reconditioned M12 Fuel brushless hammer drill/driver and impact. Came with two batteries – 4ah and 2ah and the hard plastic case. Also included was a Milwaukee travel mug.
Arlo
You are one of the lucky ones. I clicked on the email at 9:30am and they were already sold out! That was a great deal.
The yeti
In Canada we are offered this kit without the bag or the extra battery for 199 . Gotta love paying double
Chip
Am debating, all I need is the battery….but my helper lost my 2nd fuel impact.
Maybe this^ impact will limp along till the gen2 fuel comes out in November?
Have been using the 18v as a second since the loss.
Btw ,when did HD start selling Hilti?
Pete
Dang! The ONE day i dont check ToolGD. #toolGD and they offer a 6.0 for FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gah! Im gonna HAVE to go to home depot… lol see if i can find one
Stuart
It was out of stock from the start. I saw deal, scraped together details, had to get some stuff done, and when post was ready I saw it was already sold out. Maybe it was sold out even when I first saw it but didn’t notice.
There’s potential for deal to come back, or in-store matching, or similar deals elsewhere, which is why I went forward with it.
fred
You also stimulated others (like me) to look for the same deal elsewhere – and we found some – that were at least as good (maybe actually cheaper if you save sales tax).
Home Depot has the buying power to offer some great deals – but sometimes others match them or even do better.
Pete might still want to look at the deal at International Tool or CPO that have links above.
Jonathan
I was talking with the Milwaukiee rep Friday afternoon and they are offering the 6Ah with other tools kits as well. It’s a heck of a deal the 6Ah Battery is $99 by itself, the 4Ah are pretty amazing. I may pick one up from international just for the battery
I used my FuelM12 hammer drill with MATCC 6pcs 3.94 Inch Sponge and Woolen Polishing Buffing Pad Kit For Car Polisher ($8) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BWJX3U6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and used it with paint cleaner, polish and then wax, the smaller size made working around bumper A/B/C pillars and mirrors a dream. I’ve got several batteries but I never was dead in the water waiting for one the recharge. It’s was the easiest, and fastest I’ve ever detailed one of my rigs. I would only buy the dedicated M12 tool if I did a ton of orbital sanding (7K RPM and a removable 2nd handle) but 7K RPM will burn a paint job and throw wax out some distance. The drill has more than ample RPM’s.
Milwaukee has had some pretty mind-blowing promo’s I think they are really pushing to dominate the cordless market .
Jonathan
Correction 8,300 RPM one the 2438-22X M12 POLISHER SANDER
Steve
It’s a good deal, I got the drill driver set for $99 on Black Friday or one of the recent holidays….now that I’ve seen they’re revamping the m12 drill and driver set, I’d probably hold out. The current models are nearly as large as the m18 units.
Stuart
Brushed versions are not being revamped, only Fuel.
RedShirt
I think you can still get this at the brick and mortar HD. My local one shows that there are 15 in stock.
TJ
I just bought the deal with the bonus 6.0 Ah battery from my local Home Depot today, after reading about here today.
I figured, what the heck, I’ll drive over and see.
They had at least 10 more sets in stock.
Kevin
At CPO, they’re offering several tool options with the free battery.

I bought the M12 fuel hammer and impact set for $179 with the free 6 AH battery ($199 then a 10% off coupon HD had just sent me), that sale has been going on for a while and still seems like a great deal for the two fuel tools, and 1 each of 2, 4, and 6 AH batteries. I also picked up the M12 Fuel circular saw for $129 and got another free 6 AH battery. The circular saw is sold online for $129 without the “free” battery, and $159 with the “free” battery. I pointed it out in the store and they matched the $129 price and still gave me the battery.
Ed
I just came back from my local Home Depot just to check out the Milwaukee deals. The combo with free 6ah battery is sold out on line and my be available by 6/22 but the store gave me the same deal so I got the combo and battery for $99. I also while researching these found some online stores were offering a similar deal but they were tools that have been discontinued and replaced with tools of slightly higher ratings. This new kit is what HD is offering. So try your local HD store and they might dive the same deal that was offered online.
Ron
The best deal I’ve ever lucked into. Had to buy a set in a pinch while on the road doing an install (quick turn bathroom remodels) because I’d left my Makita battery charger at home. It’s been a month and I haven’t gone back to my 18v Makita’s. LOVE these drills … and that smoking deal makes it so much sweeter.
