I came here to post a comment about this not being a very good deal because Home Depot had this impact with a battery for 159 about a month ago. But then once I saw a tool bag and a free two amp battery that comes with it I ended up buying it. So I just have to say thank you for making me feel like a crackhead. You got any more of that stuff? If you do any kind of automotive work the 3/8″ stubby is a solid addition to your arsenal. I also have the big 2767 and it’s amazing, no doubt, but this 3/8″ M12 stubby can easily handle probably 90% of what I work on, including lugs and suspension bolts. Not to mention the M12 is much lighter and easier to handle. If you already have 1/2″ impact sockets you could get a 3/8″ adapter, or if you need to get set up there’s a 44pc 3/8″ Gearwrench impact set (84916N) that goes for about $85, great QPQ finish and quality for the price. Pair that GW set with this stubby and you’ve just upped your mechanic game in a major way.

That m18-2767 wrecks my wrists lol. Although i think the comparable ingersol rand wrecks them faster being that its not as balanced & more front heavy as the m18.

Matt, I’ve been racking my brain over a slim 2Ah or a fat 3-4Ah battery for this Stubby. I’d like to keep it slim for ergonomics around the home, but does the Stubby properly call for a 3-4Ah to maximize its power, let’s say on lug nuts and suspension bolts? Run time is not an isssue here. Thanks!

Rich, I love the slim form factor of the compact 2ah in the Surge, but the bigger 3, 4 or 6 is really a good pairing with the Stubby. Better power (slight but I notice it), better balance, and the flat battery lets you sit it upright. I did the 4ah and it seems perfect. Like you said, runtime is a non-issue with any of them.

The excellent Bosch carabiner worklight and the flexi-click are what’s tied me to the Bosch 12v platform.
I’ve bought a few M12 tools and converted them to use the Bosch 12v batteries. Requires opening the tools, switch polarity, and a slight trim of the housing. Thus far, I’ve converted the radio, flashlight, soldering gun, hackzaw, heated jacket, 12volt power supply and maybe a few more… but these recent cyber and BF are tempting me to just go ahead and keep a couple actual m12batteries around and adopt a new battery platform.
Between this stubby ratchet (to upgrade my 130 foot pound 3/8” Makita 18v), the rocket tower AC/DC work light, the grease gun (bought the Dewalt – never used it as it was stupid huge) and the 3/8”ratchet – those are probably all worth keeping native… I’ve bought all those deals and will sell off all the excess – it’ll be interesting to see my final cost once the dust clears.

The Bosch battery > M12 tool can be done and still allow the battery to click into place… I think if you tried the Milwaukee battery > Bosh tool mod you’d have to use tape or a strap to hold it. Not sure why you’d want to, I can’t think of a single Bosch tool they make that would be a better choice than a M12 native version.

I just already have a few M12 items and batteries, and had a chance to grab a couple Bosches (tool only) for peanuts. (the planer and the jigsaw). If the m12 batts can’t go in properly, then I guess I didn’t miss out. Nbd. Thanks.

I found it harder and harder to liquidate extra tools and batteries with new Amazon and eBay restrictions, and shipping requirements – the end $$ collected is too small.
Maybe local on Craigslist in a bigger city would work, now I just convert toys to use m12.

I would be all set if Bosch would roll out good pricing on the brushless Flexclick and come up at least a brushless impact with a belt hook. A quiet impact would be a dream…hrm look over their at those shiny red tools…

Bosch’s stupid decision not to have a belt hook on most of their drivers makes them near useless… The body design won’t even stay in a holster. The FlexiClick and LED was the only reason I stayed in their system ad modified a bunch of M12 tools to work, but I’m thinking it might be time to jump ship.

Neat, I copied that! Now I’m going to have to fix the car(s).
Any recommended deals for a mix of sockets?; metric mainly for the 1/4″ and SAE for the 3/8″.
I could really use a deal on medium quality torque wrenches too. Searching for those has been a challenge.
ps. Stuart, what’s the best way to store outdoor tools batteries – ok in the unheated garage over the Winter or, better inside the house?

Batteries will always do better in indoor conditions out of extreme weather.
Even if the batteries will work in sub zero temps I’d store them inside a climate controlled area.

I have sets of tekton impact sockets and have no complaints- though I’d probably go with Milwaukee these days they didn’t exist when I bought in.

I have the Makita subcompact version and love it. It may be longer but it’s narrower at the end which gets it into tight spots without a problem. Just tightened up my rail embedded in cement where there was barely any free space. I’ve heard a lot of great things about the M12 but it seems redundant with what I already have and need.

I picked up a Gearwrench 44pc set of 3/8″ impacts and couldn’t be happier. I also have a Tekton 1/2″ drive set and they are solid but the finish on the GW set is nicer. Personally, I wouldn’t mess with different impact sockets for 1/4″ and 3/8″- just get a 1/4″ to 3/8″ adapter and a 3/8″ impact set and you’re covered.
