Yesterday we posted about a Milwaukee M12 impact driver deal and a 3-tool bonus combo kit deal that appeared and then disappeared from Home Depot’s website. The combo is reported to be available at some Home Depot locations for $199.
After a bit of searching, we found an even better price for the same bonus combo kit over at Amazon!

The Milwaukee 2497-22p bonus combo kit (Amazon link) includes the M12 hammer drill, impact driver, bonus multi-tool, and 2 12V batteries plus charger and case for about $190. The kit is listed as a new arrival that ships in 3-5 weeks, so it’s probably a limited-time holiday special.
It’s worth remembering that Amazon does not charge your credit card for an order until it ships. Our suggestion for those interested in the combo is to buy now to lock in the $190 price. If you find a better deal locally or change your mind, you can always cancel before it ships with no penalty. If you wait too long and supplies run out outline, bonus combos may still be available at your local Home Depot.

What do u guys think of this kit? Worth the money??
James
Dangit! I already got it at Home Depot thinking it was a steal. Of course, due to Murphy’s Law, it’s now on sale at Amazon. You can thank me later.
I think it’s definitely worth the money. Many of the other combo kits include the 3/8″ non-hammer drill or the cordless screwdriver. Those aren’t bad, but the hammer drill and impact driver are much more desirable, IMO.

It is absolutely worth it if you’re looking to start or grow a 12V tool collection. The hammer drill is incredibly versatile, the impact driver is useful for driving in fasteners, and the multi-tool is said to be a very hand tool as well.
That said, personal preferences differ. If I were looking for an impact driver, my money would go towards Dewalt’s 12V version, with Bosch as a potential second choice.
But if looking for a new drill/driver, my money would likely go towards the M12 hammer drill kit, which is normally priced at $160. But in this case, the extra $25 gets you a universal multi-tool and spare impact driver. As Paris Hilton would say, that’s hot!
James, on the bright side, even though you paid $15 more not including tax, you have the kit in-hand. If you complete any projects in the next 3-5 weeks with your new tool kit, it was worth the slightly higher price.

Just wanted to add a few things. Home Depot stores are receiving limited quantities of this item for the Hardware Holiday Gift Center set. In store it is priced at $199.00, however your local store should match (not beat) Amazon’s lower price. I personally had the adjustment done in one of the store’s I work.
Disclosure: I work for Home Depot.

Thanks Big John for the insight!
I have had problems with my local Home Depot price-matching Lowes and even HomeDepot.com, let alone Amazon. The usual excuse around holiday times is that the item is not a regularly-carried stock item or that the store I ask them to price match to is not a “local competitor.”
But if your store does price match Amazon, maybe other stores are softening their policies as well.

Stuey,
I can’t go into to much detail (for obvious reasons), but in an effort to put customers first, there has been a bit of a shakeup with the price matching policy. Home Depot stores are not required to to use the 110% guarantee in regards to the new price matching policy for an internet competitor, but they are supposed to meet the price on this considering it is a stock SKU. If you have difficulty in the stores, I advise you to call the Customer Care line right there from your cell phone. It should never have to get to this point, but believe me, Customer Care will make sure that you are taken care of. If you would want to discuss things further, you can hit me up on the GarageJournal forums under “BigJohn20”.
