Hot Deal: Score a Milwaukee M12 Radio and Cordless Screwdriver Combo for $79

Milwaukee M12 Radio with Free Cordless Screwdriver

Over at Home Depot, certain stores (and online distribution centers) still have a couple of the special Milwaukee M12 radio and cordless screwdriver combos that were $99 last month for Father’s Day.

The special combo comes with the radio, Milwaukee’s older-style cordless screwdriver, a charger, and a single Li-ion battery pack.

If you’re looking to be the coolest guy on the block with the latest and greatest gear, save your pennies for Milwaukee’s new M18 Bluetooth jobsite radio instead. But if you want a modest radio, bonus screwdriver, and solid M12 battery to get them working, you can now get this combo for $79.

The radio and screwdriver combo is currently available for free shipping, and in-store pickup is another option if one of your local stores has any combos left in stock.

Buy Now(via Home Depot)

My guess is that the new $79 price is intended to help clear out remaining stock, and that once all of the combos are gone, the deal’s unlikely to return. Well, possibly at least not for a couple of months until there might be some unsold special combos from Home Depot’s later-in-the-year winter holiday displays. Even then, there’s no guarantee this radio and screwdriver combo will come back. When I last posted about a similar post-holiday clearance deal 4-1/2 years ago, the holiday special at the time was an M12 radio and drill kit. Maybe the next promo combo will be a radio and impact driver combo.

Can someone explain why you’d want to own a power screwdriver? I have the m12 drill/driver and impact driver….just not sure what the use case is for a screwdriver.

    Thoughts?

The only reason really is you get a clutch with the screwdriver and you don’t get that feature with an impact driver.

A screwdriver has a 1/4″ quick change chuck, which is more convenient for fastening applications. The clutch settings might also differ a little bit, but probably not.

It often cones down to a question of whether you want to do more drilling or driving.

cuts back on fatigue if you’re doing assembly, cabinet installs or working overhead all day.

I use mine for small fasteners you wouldn’t want to use an impact for.
It is essentially the same as the drill but with a hex drive instead of a chuck.

I often have a drill bit in my 12V drill for pilot holes and a drive bit in the screwdriver, so I don’t have to chuck and unchuck between screws.

This exactly. Pilot holes in one small drill, screw in the other.

My battery operated screwdriver (Dewalt) is used almost everyday. I mostly use it to assemble items. I also use it to screw-in power receptacles and switches into back boxes. The clutch with settings keeps me from stripping out the screw heads or over tightening them.

I frequently use 2 or 3 drill/drivers at the same time. One with a bit. One with a countersink. And one to drive a screw. I won’t use an impact gun on nice projects; mostly for framing or deck building.

The UPS guy dropped off my new radio/screwdriver kit a few hours ago. It’s a heck of a deal for $85 (California tax).
