Great deal. In addition to your criticism – it’s also not “perfect” because it can’t cut 5 1/4″ baseboard properly due tonite limited vertical clearance.

Just a comment – nothing compelling for me – but the saw deal seems pretty good if you need/want one – even adding sales tax its $80 cheaper than Acme or ToolUp

I’m not on team red yet (other than my corded sawzall), but wondering:
Are the 9.0 batteries useful for other Milwaukee tools (drill/driver, etc). or are they too bulky/incompatible with hand-held tools?

Depends on the tool.
Drill, impact driver, or other compact tool? It’ll be less than ideal. Larger tools would work better.
I usually wouldn’t use an HD battery with a tool that works better with a compact battery pack.

I’ve run the 9.0 in the tripod light, but it’s got a permanent home in the cordless vac – barely fits but runs much longer than my 5.0. I find the 5.0 is more than enough for my drill, driver, and skilsaw.

How would this compare to other 10 inch sliders, cordless or corded? I’ve been tempted by the Bosch 10″ axial slide, but wondering if there’s a real difference between the two other than the sliding mechanisms, and now this is about $70 cheaper at the moment.
Also – I didn’t see this in the item description at HD – can this convert to a corded model, or is it cordless only?

This is cordless-only.
I haven’t done a lot of comparison testing, but I believe I’ve heard more than once that it does the job but doesn’t quite compare to a corded saw power-wise.
I like the saw, but haven’t quite settled on a recommendation yet. I need more use to do that.
If you’re looking for a cordless 10″ saw, this is your only option. If you want something smaller, there are a few more options. If you want greater capacity or power, Dewalt’s FlexVolt model is your only choice.

In my Scouting Beaver-Days – this would probably have been just the ticket for cabin renovation/rebuild. As it was – we’d donate the loan of a truck-mounted Miller Diesel welding rig – and run extension cords from its AC outlets to the chop saw, table saw etc. At the end of the weekend you would go to sleep still hearing that diesel humming away. Miller advertises that some their current crop of engine-driven welders are quiet.

Thanks for the heads up, Stuart! I’ve been planning to get one but this clinched it. I’ve got a 12″ corded DEWALT that handled 99% of my needs in the field, but that’ll replace a sliding hitachi in the shop. That, and another corded Milwaukee slider (handled 1% of my needs) will go on Craigslist to help soften the blow to my wallet.

Seeing this price for you guys in the USA just shows the thievery that Milwaukee is committing in Australia. The same saw is $999 with just 1 x 9.0ah by redemption and no charger.
There is absolutely no justification for this whatsoever. With the exchange rate and even adding our sales tax it should be around $740 AUD.
It’s not just limited to this tool either, its the same rip off with all the latest releases while everything else is priced @ 20% dearer than the other brands.
I am pretty much at the point where I am going to sell off all my Milwaukee tools and move to Makita which is much more fairly priced.

Very happy woth mine so far , checked it out against my Starret square , no issues , for what I do battery life is not an issue . I mostly use the 9AH batts in the vacums .

Some stores will. All depends on the management. The bold lettering easily gives the store an easy reason not to though. Not likely, but it can’t hurt to ask and see how friendly your HD is.

There are two HD close to my house. One with a larger warehouse hence generally carry a better selection, the other have much friendlier managements. Guess which one I have made all my larger purchase from?
There isn’t anything wrong with asking. If they say no I am grateful for an answer and move on. If they say yes I’ll remember to pay it back.

Sorry. Sometimes deals can be ordered online for in-store pickup. This one cannot. I’m seeing “This item is available in some stores,” presumably because it’s a special 2-battery bundle.
The kit is available for in-store pickup, as is a special SKU which has the saw and an added battery pack (2734-21HD-48-11-1890).
Home Depot sometimes operates strangely in this way.
My feeling is that 2734-21HD is the regular kit, 2734-21HD-48-11-1890 is the regular kit with a separate battery, 2734-21HDP is a promo SKU which has the extra battery in the same box.
I’ve confused Home Depot associates with promo tool bundles before when ordering online for in-store pickup. They might see the same SKU for one tape measure or a BOGO 2-pack.
And so I believe that the restriction is a logistics thing, and not a conscious attempt to annoy customers.

Well dang. I went to buy it a few minutes ago, and no special pricing, even though the timer still had 20+ minutes left. It isn’t too helpful having a timer that isn’t accurate.

But since the timer always says 4am ET, I can’t make up my own number and say 4am ET.
One of these days I’ll stay up to see if I can determine exactly when the deal pricing ends.
If you made a big enough stink to customer service, maybe they can do something to help you (but unfortunately probably not).

In case anyone missed this deal, Toolup.com has the same thing (ie. with 2 batteries) for the same $480, potentially without sales tax depending on where you live. Good today and tomorrow. I can vouch for Toolup.

Two Home Depots that I visited today in Phoenix (Thunderbird and Cave Creek) had the Milwaukee M18 Miter Saw (the package with a “free” extra 9AH battery) on sale on the floor for $350. When I scanned the bar code using the HD app, $599 came up so I was not sure what was actually going on. I don’t really need a miter saw (I’ve already got a Dewalt DWS780 12″), but this was a deal that was just too good to pass up since two 9AH batteries would be more than $250 by themselves and I’m up to my ears in Milwaukee M18 tools. So I ended up buying a saw which did, indeed, ring up at $350. I brought it home and spent an hour playing with it and I’ve got to say that I love it! Thus far, more than the Dewalt! Plus, I’ve now got two 9AH batteries! I’m trying to convince my son-in-law that he needs me to build shelves for his new tough shed this weekend so I can give it a real workout.
