Adam wrote in about FANTASTIC deals that Home Depot is running right now on two Milwaukee M18 LED worklights.

YAAAAAAAAY! Sorry, hard to contain the excitement. I saw this listed on HD this last week, and always said out of stock, though I hadn’t seen it listed in my many site visits for the lights stock status.
So I actually called HD a few days ago, and after 10 minutes of researching, the guy said it was no longer being stocked. Not a direct answer to my question of when it was actually sold or was it just a place holder for a future promo, but the guy tried.
I’ve checked every day, and it’s back, or live for the first time, today. It’s almost a B1G1 deal for the $150 model. It seems like an unnecessary promo to me (from a Milwaukee perspective), as the lights were just released, and seem to be OOS more than in stock, and probably didn’t need that much of an incentive to buy.
I think that YAAAAAAY properly captures my own sentiments here.
There are 2 deals, but the bigger and better one is on Milwaukee’s new M18 cordless LED tripod stand worklight.
The new Milwaukee stand light was just released at $249, which is a very reasonable price if you ask me, especially compared to the few competing products currently on the market.

Right now, you can buy the Milwaukee LED stand light with a 5Ah battery and charger starter kit, for the same price as just the bare tool!

I had the chance to preview the new worklight at Milwaukee’s 2015 media event (here’s a link to all of our Milwaukee media event new tool coverage), and it was very impressive. I’m still working on testing a production sample, but it’s every bit as awesome.
These LED tripod lights are sturdy, quick and easy to deploy, comfortably portable, and just fantastic in every way I could think of. Even the quality of light and color accuracy is excellent.
As Adam wrote, Milwaukee doesn’t need to offer such a great bargain on this new release – as it’s already a hot item. Not that anyone will mind!

This is a special buy with unknown expiration date or supply limit.
The bundles includes the Milwaukee M18 stand light ($249 via HD) and a 5Ah battery with charger starter kit ($129 via HD). Since the bundle price is the same as the bare tool price, that means the starter kit is essentially free.

The Pelican ProGear 9420XL RALS LED tripod is the only cordless LED tripod worklight alternative that comes to mind right now ($245 to $260 via Amazon). If I recall correctly, it used to cost a lot more.
Another alternative is to attach a small LED worklight, such as the Festool SysLite (or SysLite II) to a tripod or light stand, but you’re going to lose out on a lot of the versatility, durability, and ease of deployment of Milwaukee and Pelican’s respective tripod worklight products.
There’s also a deal on the Milwaukee 2360-20 M18 LED flood light, where you get a bundled battery at no extra cost. Sorry, there’s no free bundled charger with this one.
The flood light is a smaller worklight with pivoting head and 3 prong port for connection to AC power via an extension cord.
This is also a very good deal, considering that a 5Ah battery is priced at $129 by itself. As mentioned, Home Depot also has the 5Ah battery and charger starter kit for $129, which is lower priced than elsewhere. Either way, you can’t get a 5Ah battery for less than $129 (at least not from an authorized dealer).
With this bundle, you get the $149 worklight and a $129 battery at no added cost!

I am in the process of buying one now! thanks for the find!
Pete
Now the dilema of deciding which one is “NEED” lol hopefully theyre there when i get to work so i can decide!
pete
The only thing i noticed was that the floodlight doesn’t come with a charger like the tripod does. I really want both! lol I think i’m gonna go with the tripod.
Stuart
That’s a sign to buy both. You need 2 batteries for 2 tools to be at the ready, but really only 1 charger. Hehe 🙂
Michael Quinlan
You had to say that, didn’t you? Now I have one of each on the way.
Steve
I think the floodlight is a pretty good deal it is a bit cheaper, but it all depends on what your working on.

Since we’re talking about lighting, this is in a different category, but I tried the Rockler LED Shop Light with Reflector Shroud over the holidays. It is amazing for $29 on sale for the smaller wattage. So, if you are looking to light up your work area very easily and inexpensively, this is a great light. I just took out the old bulb and put this in and it was amazing how it flooded the area with light. A very wide range. I was going to install the 4′ long tube type of LED, but now don’t need to do that.

Well I have had some trouble with the rockler brand but they do have quality in their stuff but the reason Milwaukee is expensive is because you can’t go wrong with long lasting heavy duty stuff 5 year warranty bigger brighter LED’s and are still innovating this product. i’m not saying rockler is a bad brand but does have their dissapoinments…

A great find! I just got my order in.
Thanks Adam! (and you too Stuart!)

I picked one of the stand lights up during Zoro’s 30% sale. It is ideal for use when working under my 4-post car lift. Easy to move around, stable, and you can get a lot of light pointing right where you need it. Certainly a good deal with the battery thrown in.

Can the tripod light also be powered by AC power? That’s a major selling point for me in something like this
Jason
No the tripod is battery only.
Michael Quinlan
It’s disappointing that they included AC power capability in the cheaper light but not the more expensive one.

Why would I want a bunch of CFL’s.??? at least that’s what david above is pushing
Mike I.
I completely agree that AC power would have been a nice option on these. Not having this seems like a miss on Milwuakee’s part.
That said, they do last quite a while on a charged 4.0 battery. It will start blinking as it nears the depleted state but at that point it is time to swap out or recharge the battery.

In360light more better.

I purchased the older m18 2361-20 a couple weeks ago. When these popped up yesterday I purchased the 2360-20 with a 5 amp hour battery. I’ve only had the m18 2361 for about 2 weeks and I am pretty happy with it. It’s durable and reasonably bright, the handle is awesome and it’s very portable. However, I don’t feel it’s bright enough in some situations. I thought about buying the stand but decided against it, and one of the reason’s is because it doesn’t have AC (and it’s 100 dollars more as well). Another is that I feel the 2361 is flexible enough for me that I don’t need to go that route.
I purchased the Milwaukee fuel drill and impact combo at the beginning of December and one of the reasons I went with it is because of the lighting solutions. I really don’t need anything more than the staples in tools (reciprocating saw, drill, impact, circular saw, and lights) having good lights actually tipped the scale against the mikita combo set.

I have a need for something like this, but I’m not sold on either of these. I prefer small lightweight tools and so am more drawn to the Festool SysLite. Though I don’t own any Festool and so would need to buy another battery to be able to cycle between them.
If the 2360-20 were a little smaller in format, I’d be more interested since I already own a lot of M18. If the light on the 2130-20 were somehow detachable from the tripod it would be a lot more versatile for me. Also, the lack of A/C power seems like an intentional move to sell both lights IMO.
Stuart
There’s also a small hex-based worklight, also shown in this post: https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/milwaukee-m18-led-tripod-worklight-other-m12-m18-led-lighting/%3C/a%3E , that’s relatively compact, although you wuld have to build your own tripod-mounting system for it.
I’m not sure why Milwaukee left an AC hybrid power off this light, but it does run for a very long time on battery power.
I’m guessing they found it to be a cost that few customers would be interested in.

I ended up buying the portable light and it arrived today. I used it while I was working in my crawl space and it’s very bright. It’s a lot heavier than I expected. I’ve often desired the tripod light while at work, and am thinking of ordering that one too and then deciding whether I want to keep both.
I’d hate to think that I spent $400 on lights. But the portable one is too bulky and heavy to really hang or perch in a spot that will be useful while I’m making terminations at work. And the tripod one is too big to be useful on the type of project I was working on today.
Dean
Anyone know when this deal expires? Personally, I think the $149 portable flood light is a better option.. at least for me. Its brighter than the tripod, has a plug for electric and its not much more than a spare 5.0ah battery (Which I was considering purchasing anyway)
