Milwaukee M18 Radius Site Light is on Sale for $199

Ryan and Ron wrote in with tips that the Milwaukee M18 Radius LED site light (2145-20) has dropped in price at Home Depot, from $299 to $199.

It’s still $299 at other vendors, suggesting this is a temporary sale price, so that’s what we’ll believe unless or until there’s indication otherwise.

$199 for an LED worklight?!

Check out our preview for more details, but consider these brief highlights:

– It’s bright (4,400 lumens at max).

– It provides uniform lighting.

– Great color accuracy (reds look red, blues look blue, browns look brown, purples look purple, and so forth).

– It can be corded or cordless.

– You can daisy chain up to 10 Radius worklights together.

– Impact resistant, IP54 water and dust resistance, hanging hook, hanging hole, light angle control.

It’s pricey if all you need is a simple worklight. But if you need a larger area task light or overhead light, the Milwaukee M18 Radius has some features that might come in handy.

Sale Price: $199

The three head rocket light with charging base also dropped $100, from $399 to $299. The cheaper stand light is now at $199.

Thanks! I added a link to the end of the post.

I see the price for the original as $249, and that’s for the kit that includes a 5.0Ah battery and charger starter kit, and the new Rocket light + charger did drop to $299.

The m12 spot light and rover flood light also dropped by $10 each, to $59 and $69 respectively. If you ask me this pricing is far more reasonable across the board, I doubt they sold as many of the radius at 299 or rocket chargers at 399 as they hoped, hence the price drop. Is it possible they just have a deal with Home Depot that they they get first crack at the new pricing and other vendors will follow suit down the road? HD has a lot of buying power with Milwaukee and I could see them demanding a price drop and Milwaukee giving it to them

They just changed it and made that kit $249 again. I initially saw the $199, then poof, gone,

you can get it for $199 if they still have the kit in your home Depot. it was great yesterday, as yo were still able to stack with the Milwaukee $200 off promo

Yup, I’ve since learned that the price is somehow linked to your location even if you’re having it shipped. And that’s what happened to me, once i set the location and checked local stock, it updated to $249. If I had just added to the cart at $199 (ship to home) and proceeded to check out, it would have given me the $199 price.

    As of 10:20 CST

Rocket 3 head led is $299
Rocket stand light kit w/5ah batt and charger is $199
    Radius lite $299

I have made several posts on different tool blogs about Milwaukee’s recent pricing decisions, which is to say that they were starting to price themselves out of a lot of customers. The sale prices we see now should have been the prices to begin with. On the other hand Milwaukee doesn’t have any real competition in the cordless lighting category, so they must have felt that they could price however they wanted to.

      I’m still seeing $249.

The $199 price for the Rocket might be regional or store-specific?

          4400 lumens for $200 = 22lumens/dollar vs Dewalt 7000 lumens for $400 = 17.5 lumens per dollar.

Is the Dewalt one getting an update? I seen one that looked identical to that and side by side with the Milwaukee the red one was far, far brighter.

Showing $199 at a bunch of vendors now. Let’s hope that this is the new price going forward.

The insanely high prices were likely aimed at initial adopters.
LEDs can be sourced for not that much money, especially for an OEM who can buy in quantity.
I honestly expect the prices on a number of tools like this to come down further.
Milwaukee can charge huge prices because there isn’t (with the exception of the even more obscenely priced lights from Pelican) anything like these lights on the market right now. That will change when other manufacturers bring copycats into the market.

I routinely see high powered LED flashlights sold on Ebay, Amazon and Deal Extreme for a fraction of the price, so the margins on power tool branded lights are likely pretty big.

What’s more, after the initial development cost is absorbed, the only real floor on price is production+marketing+distribution. Beyond that, a manufacturer could push prices lower intentionally to capture market share, or the retailer could clearance out product in preparation for new stock.

I think the price will come down too. Perhaps they will eventually run from $99-$150… $199 is a pretty decent price base on what I have seen as far as the output, build quality and uniqueness on the market. It’s not enough to make me jump at it. But if I have an immediate for such light I don’t think it’s a bad deal.
