Milwaukee Manual Knockout Punch Set

Milwaukee’s M18 cordless knockout punch tool deserves some serious attention, but there’s also a lot of interest in their manual punch set. The manual punch set (49-16-2694) includes 6 sets of punches and dies, 2 draw studs, a tube of grease, and a long 1″ ratcheting wrench.

The set comes with 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″, and 2″ punch and die pairs, with the sizes corresponding to typical electrical conduit sizes. Nominal hole sizes are going to be a bit different.

Milwaukee Exact Knockout Punch

These punches and dies are identical to those included in the M18 powered knockout punch driver sets, and feature laser-engraved crosshairs for easy alignment, large size markings, and split tooth geometries that break up slugs for easier removal.

Milwaukee’s knockout punch sets are compatible with competitive knockout tools, in case you run out of elbow grease.

Surprisingly, Milwaukee’s manual knockout punch set is priced a bit higher than Greenlee’s comparable Slug-Buster set, model 7238SB. Milwaukee’s set is available for $329, Greenlee’s is ~$290.

The reason for the price difference is because Greenlee’s standard knockout set is rated for use on mild steel, while Milwaukee’s is rated for use on mild steel and stainless steel. The exception is the included 1/2″ punch set, which is only rated for mild steel, but a stainless steel-rated 1/2″ punch set is available separately.

I’d buy this and not use the wrench; instead I would use a cordless impact wrench. With this manual knockout punch set and a Milwaukee fuel 1/2 impact wrench both should all run less than 1,000 dollars unlike the Milwaukee m18 knockout punch driver kit that cost over 3,000 dollars.

Not sure what the ~benchmark~ is but the Greenlee KO cutters have always fared much better than any other brand on the market ! I still have some larger sized dies that are so old (they come in a leather pouch) that are still good

Not sure about this set or the Milwaukee M18 tool – but we found that hydraulic powered KO cutters were the way to go. We had a Greenlee set – and if your shopping for one – you might look at Zoro when they are having one of their 25% off sales (like now -for Labor Day – with promo code “DAYOFF” )

Depends on what you’re doing and how much you’re doing….
If space allow, I’d rather run a impact on it than use a Hydraulic set anyday..
