Milwaukee has come out with a new organizer tool box, model 48-22-8030. Milwaukee’s 48-22-8030 organizer isn’t their first foray into tool storage or organization. There’s also their recent tool backpack, zippered pouches I haven’t yet written about, and an upcoming ball bearing tool storage combo that’s engineered with some innovative and highly appealing features.

The new Milwaukee organizer comes with (8) small and (2) large removable organizer bins. Milwaukee says that the 4″ x 4″ size of the smaller bins allows them to be swapped out for common electrical boxes.
Not only are the bins removable, they each have 2 integrated screw slots, so you can mount them to common jobsite materials to keep fasteners, supplies, and parts right where you need them.
Each organizer features two front latches, for opening the lid and accessing contents, and two side latches for stacking and connecting organizers together for easier carrying or storage. Unlike most other organizers on the market, Milwaukee’s can be opened even when latched together.
The lid is designed to hold the bins in place with no gaps, creating a seal that keeps bin contents from spilling out and into other bins. There is also an integrated gasket which provides a weather seal to protect organizer contents from the elements.

The organizer’s lid is clear, and presumably impact-resistant, making it easy to quickly identify and locate contents. The organizer also features a reinforcing rib for greater strength. It also looks like Milwaukee beefed up the handle hinge for strength and durability.

First Thoughts
Milwaukee says that the new organizer has up to 20% more capacity than the competition, which I would think refers to the Dewalt organizer or Tstak organizer. Just something to consider.
I like the look of the new organizer, and especially the lid-mounted side latches that enables users to access the contents of an organizer even when there’s another one secured on top.
This looks to be another solid new product offering by Milwaukee. I wish that they would come out with a slimmer model that’s better suited for holding smaller parts, but that probably doesn’t fit into their strategy. In the meantime, my Stanley organizers will have to do.

This looks pretty cool, but I’m still with the Stanley (well, the HF knock off version) variant. I’ll tell you what I REALLY want though is for someone (Stanley? HF?) to come out with a stacking drawer system for them ala the Sortimo drawers we’ve all seen in the mythbusters man cave video. It REALLY REALLY annoys me that I’m going to have to build some sort of wooden slotted structure to hold the 15+ and growing HF boxes. Why isn’t anyone doing this????

I have a few hf ones too, they are hard to beat considering the price. I have two of these, and one with the small bins and they have held up really well, fallen over quite a few times and have not spilled everywhere. I might shoot some caulking on the bottom of the dividers to prevent anything from sneaking under them, has happened to me quite often and it gets annoying. Is this a Keter made box, like the Dewalt, Ridgid, and others?

It’s possible, but I searched and couldn’t find any comparable Keter products that could have verified this. If it is made by Keter, it is likely a Milwaukee exclusive.
Dewalt and Stanley’s Israeli-made tool boxes and organizers are made by ZAG, which was acquired by Stanley Black & Decker a number of years ago. I don’t know if SBD and Keter have any business relationship.

I always assumed they were made by Keter, thanks to the made in Israel tag. Of course, I remember what my high school trig teacher taught me about assume… Nice to know and interesting that Israel has competing makers of these things.

All Milwaukee and Ridgid boxes made in Israel are made by KETER.
Some are – at least in the beginning – proprietary but for example Ridgid has rebranded stock products too.

I have bought 8 of the DeWalt branded sorters. I have zero problems pealing the thick DeWalt logo off or the larger sticker across the front.
I also cut the lid stops off of many of them for a fully opening lid.

Looks like a good design. I really like the collapsible handle, the mountable interior containers, and the country of origin.
I would run right out and buy some if it wasn’t for one problem. I’ve already bought into 2 other storage systems, L-Boxx and the Dewalt/Stanley Pro. Once you’ve spent a couple hundred bucks on interlocking cases, its damn hard to justify buying into a 3rd system, even if it has some superior features.
If only there was some sort of intersystem connection adapter… Wishful thinking.

Yeah, great design, I liked it the first time I saw the Stanley boxes. The only significant improvement has been the ability to connect two or more together (it has to be an odd number to balance properly), I liked that too when I first saw it on Stanley boxes.
I don’t get the slots to mount the individual boxes. I can’t think of any situation where that would be beneficial.

I have quite a few Kester and Dewalt boxes similar to this one. I would also like to see a thin one that would tuck up under my front/passenger seat. One that is well made of course.

Stanley makes a think tough case sorter. I am not sure why DeWalt hasn’t rebranded it under their name yet like they have the larger tough case sorter.

What is like to see is an organizer that has sealable internal bins, so I can take a few bins out and throw them in a bag with other stuff I’m taking (in to a job) from the truck, and not have to worry about the contents spilling inside the bag. The individual bin lids would not be used while the bins are in the organizer, but having a few for each bin size would be great.
Anyone seen anything like this?

Love these so much I purchased 22 of these in the last couple of days from two separate HD’s.
The flexibility in moving the boxes around as they stay locked in position once the lid is closed, is AWESOME! This means I can load up a box with a tool or tools and the accessories. For example, in one organizer box, I put my 110v sheetrock screw gun, tips in one 4×4 box and 800 count, one full container of #7x 1 5/8 screw strips(800 ct). This really cuts down on organizing. In another organizer, I put dividers in the 4×4 cups and in each cup there is a bulk supply of standard nuts, nylock nuts, split lock washer and a flat washer, all in one cup for one thread size of bolt.
Literally getting rid of my hanging bins and going mobile!

Home Depot just reduced the price to $19.95 in stores (Sept. 28). But these can be roughly handled in the store: check over the one you want to buy: I saw one with a cracked cover and another with a damaged latch.

I use the Stanley organizers, have 30 of them, 25 small, 5 deep. Great organizers. But…..replacement bins are something like $1.50 – $2.50 each, plus shipping from Stanley. If one wants to buy several of the large bins to replace a bunch of the small ones, it’s cheaper to buy another organizer, take out the large bins and throw everything else away.
Way to run a business, Stanley. How about inexpensive packages of bins, say 6 large bins available in stores for $8 – $10? And some double-length large bins so we can stop cutting the ends out of two of them and gluing them together to fit longer stuff.
