Looks to me like they marked things up just to make them the same price on “sale”

Some are at their prior discounts. I didn’t notice anything being marked up, but it’s possible.
I have been told by several in the retail industry that they can only offer discounts or promotions for tools at MSRP pricing. Much of the time, this still works out in users’ favor.
It’s always advisable to compare prices when making big purchases.

Better than nothing – but typically these sorts so $ off deals leave me cold. If you want free shipping and the $20 off – you need to spend at least $219. At a $219 spend – $20 off is a 9.1% discount – and gets smaller if you buy more. I guess if you buy something for exactly $99 and add $6.49 shipping – the discount is almost 19% – but I don’t have anything on my Christmas present shopping list that fits this. I’ll pass – and see what deals come for Veterans Day and BF.

Up there you start getting better with the HD coupon you get with the card.
HOWEVER, you can sometimes stack deals and find something decent, especially things that never go on sale.

The packout parts organizers are rarely seen at a discount, so this is pretty solid if you’re in the market for a couple.

The real savings are when “contractor only” stores have Milwaukee days. In my area there’s a plumbing supply house called fergusons that has one of these events about once every 6 months. Milwaukee reps come out and they will actually bargain with some of the tools. The last time they were out, they had a special on one of their generators that was unbelievable. I forget exactly everything that was offered, but it was pound for pound the best deal on a Milwaukee tool I had ever seen…. by a landslide.

100% marked up since when has a drill driver kit ever been 689.99
rip off if I’ve ever saw one

Which model?
If you’re talking about list prices, I always disregard those. What you want to look for is the current street pricing at other authorized dealers. Does $20 bring the price below competitors’ pricing? Lower the street pricing?
