Is this a good deal?

On an eligible $150 order, you save ~10%. On an eligible $300 order, you save ~11.7%. On a $600 order, you save 12.5%. But, the further you are from the minimum savings thresholds, the lower the percentage savings.

If your potential order happens to fall close to the different saving tiers’ minimum dollar amounts, or there’s something you need to buy right now, this is a good deal. If your purchase can wait or is very far from the thresholds, then you could try to pad your order to get to the next promo tier or sit tight and wait for a better percent-off or dollar-off promo.

$35 off a $500 order amount, for example, would only be 7% savings. 7% is still money saved, but you might be able to save more if you can wait on your purchase. Acme Tools has historically had an 11% coupon for Veteran’s Day.

I’ve always wondered if HD more then merely appears to offer better Sale deals on Milwaukee simply because they are surely their largest retailer in the US?
    Thoughts? Statistics?

I don’t quite know how to answer your question.

Home Depot does have some better deals that you cannot find at Independent Channels.

They’re not direct money-savings promos, though – Home Depot’s best Milwaukee promos are usually “buy this, get that, and at a lower price” bundles.

For some promos, such as the Black Friday/Holiday season hole saw set, but not the “Pro Black Friday” set, Home Depot is the customer and appears to have a say in the price point targeting and marketing. That’s why you see incongruous marketing in the special buy sets, specifically in their contents and part count.

This is only worth it if you have to have something right now. Otherwise it is nothing more than ploy to lure people in with minimal savings

It’s not a ploy, it just requires a little more strategy for shoppers who can wait for a better deal.

If we predict an 11% discount for Veteran’s Day, which I would say is likely but not guaranteed, today’s deal works out better for certain tools and order totals.

One could also wait for the holiday shopping season, but exclusions and availability also change from promo to promo.

This promo has fewer exclusions than usual.

35 off 299 is 11.7 percent… 75 off 500 is 15%. I mixed up the lines the first look too.

      35 off $299 is ~11.7%, but that $75 off requires a $599 minimum order. So it’s $75 off ~$600, not $500, for max savings of 12.5%, not 15%.

On a $500 order, you would still only save $35, or 7%. You would have to add $99 to a $500 order to save $40 more and get the max $75 (12.5%) savings.

If your order is say $560 before discount (or rather $559), or close to it, bumping the order total to $599 makes sense. But if you’re at anywhere between say $400 and $520 or so, you’re in “not that great a deal territory” in my opinion.

Ahhhhh 99s everywhere! In any case, agreed, they’re best-case percentages only, and slickdeals is still rife with “here’s a combo that put you as close to 299 as possible to maximize the savings”. If you want to buy only what you want, a flat percent off is better for wide ranges of total cart values than what’s here.

These tiered deals were always less attractive than a % off deal – unless you planned to spend the exact amount that starts the tier.

Acme is doing a HPT/Metabo 15% off deal for a limited time – using code METABOHPT15

Also, if you plan on buying Ridgid plumbing or Greenlee tools – ToolUp is doing a $50 off $499 deal – using code TRADE50

For folks in Canada – I got an email from Mississauga Hardware announcing their Milwaukee Madness sale – to run 10/1 to 10/9

I just bought a brand new ryobi battery ride on lawnmower and Milwaukee 1 3/4 SDS Max hammer drill for $1200 from my local 2nd hand bodega that buys HD and Lowe’s returns by the semi. I then sold that ride on lawnmower for $2000 the next day. So I got a $650 SDS max hammerdrill that I needed for “free” plus $800. There are some things you have to buy at retail prices, other tools can be found at GREAT discounts if you’re willing to pay cash and buy at a bodega.
